I really don't know what it is with people butchering Leliana's name.

Even the official soundtrack did it.

Considering my name ends with an "ana" (and is also pronounced "ah-nah") too and people are constantly misspelling it with an "anna," people butchering Leliana's name grates me. Probably more than it should, but eh - personal pet peeves seeping in and whatnot.

Morrigan is awesome, but I do wonder how players would have responded to her in the long term if Witch Hunt had never come out.

I liked her a lot even without Witch Hunt, gave her the benefit of the doubt most of the time. Witch Hunt did add in some interesting tidbits though. And ditto'd to everyone preferring Morrigan as a friend than a romance. For some reason it just felt a bit more... intimate? Like I felt closer to her and knew her better as a buddy than as a lover - both when playing as a male Warden and a female Warden.

In other news, I don't know why I've taken this long to delurk in the Leliana fan topic. I've probably drawn more fan art of her and my Amell Warden than I did of any other Bioware couple/subject I played, ever. :P Really, really happy to see her back for DA:I, even if she's not a companion. Love her look in the new engine; the hood reminds me a bit of Kasumi.

I think it would also further complicate dealing with all the possible romance states.  They already have to deal with the state of any other active romance for the Inquisitor and now Leliana's various states with romance with the Warden.

I think that plays a part, to be sure. On a story/lore standpoint, it's not hard to imagine she's simply at a different point in her life where romance just isn't something of importance to her right now. She's got other concerns, she's likely changed over the years as the Left Hand of the Divine... She's just Not Interested. Personally, I'm more interested in seeing how she's changed and grown over the past decade than than the fact she's not an LI this go-around.

I seriously hope this isn't in reference to the Warden.

The word 'may' is suspicious in this context.

GODDAMN BIOWARE

Not all Warden's will have entered a relationship with Leliana.

Leliana has ensured that all Wardens have entered a relationship with her, regardless of the PC's preferences or desires.

She is most insistant.

Even if that Warden 'killed' her.

Especially if they 'killed' her.

I'm trying to find my 'Leliana thinks she's the PC and the Warden is her LI' post. I believe it was in the old Romance thread.

Damn. How did you find that? What is your magic power?

Leliana approaches romance in the way most players do. She knows the Warden is available as an LI and assumes if she uses the right flirt lines then that toggles your romance state.

Unfortunately, the Warden romance is buggy and even when Leliana has raised your affection level and done your sidequests, you sometimes still don't act like you're in a romance with her. Also, the Warden randomly cheats with other companions, which is some weird feature the Maker added because it's 'dramatic.'

If Leliana manages to get around the romance bugs and can reload until she gets a faithful Warden, it's an awesome, very satisfying romance. (Until the next game where her LI 'disappears' again because it's 'dramatic.')

I'll also note here that the companions get their own message board to hang out at, and Leliana believes that DA:O is her PC getting a chosen one role, which she finds a bit cliche.

She's also caught wind that DA:I begins with her mentor dying, and then she, Cassandra, and Cullen start up a new organization to replace the Seekers. There's a romance discussion thread where Sera mostly posts pictures of attractive, half-naked women she says the Inquisitor looks like while Cullen talks about funny/cute things the Inquisitor can do. Leliana complains that the Inquisitor isn't an interesting LI and wants to know what happened to her Warden.

Cassandra sometimes pops in to remind people that there are other threads where they can talk about gameplay and STUFF THAT MATTERS but everyone mostly ignores her.

I can totally see Cassandra as a 'stop having fun' type.

From afragmentcastadrift:

Random Dragon Age: Inquisition headcanon -

Given the friendship between Leliana and Josephine, I figure that perhaps, when the spark of romantic affection becomes evident and clear, a certain bard, former companion of the Hero of Ferelden, Left Hand of the Divine and all that, might approach the Inquisitor for a little heart-to-heart.

——

Leliana: My dear Inquisitor, might I have a moment of your time?

Inquisitor: Certainly. Please, feel free to speak of anything you wish.

L: Well… I have noticed that you are spending a lot of time in Josephine’s company.

Inq: Lady Montilyet? Well, yes, she’s a valued advisor.

L: And you seek her… advice… often.

Inq: As needed, yes. She is extremely capable, and her guidance has been most welcome.

L: I’ve seen the way you look at her.

Inq: …what?

L: Those lingering glances when she delivers her reports…

Inq: …how…. you’re not even in the room when…

L: The way your cheeks flush whenever she speaks…

Inq: …*incoherent stammering*

L: Let me be clear. I have known Josephine for some time. I consider her a friend. A dear friend. And if you EVER deign to hurt her - lie, cheat, berate, betray… even if you so much as accidentally break one of her quills, I. WILL. RUIN. YOU.

Inq: …

L: I am a bard, trained by the finest. I know 1001 poisons and 230 places on the body where a blade would strike fast and true. But if you harm her in any way, I will use the dullest and rustiest knife to cut out your eyeballs and then feed them to you, do you understand me?

Inq: … yes, ma’am.

L: Good. *casually brushes off the front of her armor*

L: I wish you both much happiness.

Inq:

Inq: … thank you.

Also a sketch by her:

Because I hate being threatened, my response would be more along the lines of "You would never make it past my rock armor. But your point is well taken."

Ugh, I hated it when Wynne began to talk like that when I was romancing Leliana. I'm perfectly capable of not hurting a videogame character, thank you very much.

How would you rock armor protect you from poison?

Rogues have always been the best counter to mages. Slipping into a mage's bedroom and slitting their throat while they're asleep seems much better than running up to one on a battlefield and hoping they don't nuke you before you reach them.

Certainly it would protect me from the dullest, rustiest knife available.

Also, if levitation was in the game, I would be sure to sleep in a room that could only be reached via levitation; I would have the stairs removed, fly in through the window, and periodically grease the outside wall below it. If that's not an option, I'll rig up a bomb to explode in the face of anyone who picks the lock on my door. Being a Dalish leader of an organization full of Andrastian rogues, I doubt that I'll let my guard down much at any given moment.

I appreciated Wynne's sentiment. But really, everything she says is so condescending. She's old, yeah, and fancies herself worldly although I'd say she is far from it). But does everything she say have to sound like she thinks you're incapable of breathing without assistance?

I think the "you need to break it off with Leliana" convo is the only convo with her where I don't at least try to be polite to the old hag.

In wars and battles everyone gets hurt.

Alistair: (after being resurrected) Oh, seems i'm still alive.

Morrigan: What a  shame. And here I thought it was going to be peaceful for  a change.

Allistair: Heyyyy

Okay, you'll defeat rogues with levitation abilities that don't exist and rogues will defeat you with sniper rifles that don't exist. You'll rig a bomb on your door and they'll detect a trap and disarm it.

Rogues are the best people for taking out mages.

We don't know if rock armor would protect from a dull, rusty knife applied to, say, your eyeball.
