You know, the more I rewatch that video, the more I'm starting to believe that is where you officially recruit Leliana.

My theory is that Cassandra and Leliana take the Inquisitor captive after the explosion at the Temple of Sacred Ashes and try to get answers about what happened. Soon after they get attacked by Alexius' men. Cass and Inquisitor manage to get away, while Leliana and the others try to hold off the attackers and fail. The Tevinters kill everyone, subdue Leli and bring her to Redcliffe.

But Cameron Lee said that the Alexius fight doesn't happen for everyone. It happend in that playthrough because of choices made earlier. Also, it was said you don't have to send Leliana, you can send someone else.

Interesting but unlikely. It was said that not every player would get this particular scenario because of branching choices, so this is not the beginning of the game.

Oh well, scratch that.

I get the fealling that "it doesn't happen for everyone" is because Alexius' original attack that supposedly killed the Inquisitor can actually be won or lost based on choice you made.

There might even be different choices that can make Alexius not attack you in the first place. It get the felling that the Red Templars and Venatori are "swappable" at certain story point based on story choices: both use red lyrium, both act like bad guys and both stand on the extremity of the mage/templar feud.

Interesting point. Like how you could lose the Cauthrien battle? Instead of dying you simply got locked up in Fort Drakon and if you won then you could proceed.

Yep, although this time, I don't really expect a Fort Drakon escape (well not for that storyline at least, they really seem to want you dead).

Leliana got captured in the "lost" scenario and that was probably because she haven't been sent somewhere or was told to do something right before the battle. Sorta like ME2 pick-who-does-what but with different plot consequences over just "X dies because he isn't up to the task".

God after watching that Alexius fight I really love the new Leliana. I didnt care much for her in DA:O but this brooding, somewhat damaged Leliana is great.. So bummed I cant romance her :( Wish it was available if you didnt romance her in DA:O :(

This somewhat damaged Leliana is much hotter than the somewhat damaged one we got in DA:O. I like my women damaged, but only in specific ways that cause them to go badass.

Just stick some t*ts on Fenris and I'll be good.

Which is somewhat strange, because I can't imagine anyone accurately seeing her as not badass as an adventurer in DAO...

Um, Leliana in DA:O was cute and feminine. Cute and feminine people can't be badasses.

It's like... a law.

Just as long she doesn't go full angst, I'm fine with her new attitude.

Okay, catching up!

wow, and here i thought i was the only one who's seen that (course it was a rerun, but damn i feel old)

Aside: Kelly's Heroes is amazing.

Returns to shadows

It's awesome!

I am SO not sending Leliana down there in my canon playthrough. Maybe Cullen.

If the game goes this way for me, I'll feel obliged  to send her there to see how it turns out!

A very potentially problematic Leliana. I'm not fond of the implication that mages don't belong in the world.

I think she's far more angry at these particular mages doing big world-breaking things rather than at all mages in general.  I think it's far more "See what they've done? No one should have that kind of power!" instead of "Grrr, mages!"

Not to mention the torturer's line 'you've got no one to protect now' heavily implies that the Divine died. She saw her as a friend. Poor Leliana.

Leliana also expresses suprise at seeing the Inquisitor while being rescued.

She may have thought the Inquisitor was dead as well.

Anyways, the first thing she says is "You're alive." This implies that she thought the Inquisitor was dead. Before you open the door, the torturer tells her, "There's no one left."

If this was simply a mission where Leliana was sent to assassinate someone, she failed, and was captured, why would she believe the Inquisitor had perished?

Dorian says, "You aren't curious how we got here?" If it were simply a matter of them riding to the town and killing people as they made their way to the castle, I don't think he'd say that.

That seems the most likely explanation.  It's like seeing the Inquisitor alive reinvigorates her.

Since when did Leliana become so...pro-Circle? I don't want to say anti-mage but she seemed pretty pissed at the mages.

"Pro-Circle" and "Anti-Mage" are two entirely different things.  Circles can be good, if done right.  All the ones we've seen or heard of, not so much, because people.

On another note: the female qunari is so tall. Look how she just towers over Leliana!

I was boggling at that for a good few minutes. The qunari Inquisitrix is huge!  She's taller than everyone else!

Might be earlier to say, and I'd love to be proven wrong, but I have to say I don't think I like Leliana in Inquisition. I'm gonna keep my eyes on her all the time and probably let her sweeping the keep most of the time unless I have to use her more often than I think. >.< I never trusted Cullen either so Scribbles will be used as much as possible LOL.

I am still of the opinion that this may be Dorian specific loyalty (or disloyalty) quest.

That way it is optional and can only be unlocked if Dorian has a high enough approval rating and or Leliana espionage crew is high enougn level.

I wonder if they'll end up pulling a Tali vs. Legion scene?

I'm actually a bit surprised how quickly Leliana seem to recover after the Inquisitor & co rescue her. Though it's true we don't yet know how long she was held captive or even what was done to her but I find it odd that she seems fit enough to put through some arrows through all them demons immediately after being rescued.

Another thing I find curious is the discussions of Leliana's anti-mage attitude. As far as I know we haven't seen how she treats mages after the demo we've been shown (though maybe I've missed something) and in it she only snaps at Dorian and only because she probably doesn't want to talk about those things, at least yet.

People are just making assumptions as usual. It mostly started from an article about someone playing it at E3 and they called her anti-mage and now that the demo is out on YouTube people are making their own assumptions as well. But it's obviously a very heated moment and we have no idea how she'll react when things are calm.

Well, what else can we do but assume at the moment? Besides, it's better when assumptions are wrong, that way the game still surprises us. It's not much fun when you guess all the twists.

Now I have seen Leliana in action....(I only just got to watching the video), I can honestly say she looks so alluring...much , much better that in DA:O and the teeny bit we saw of her in DA2.

Just as Lara Croft looks so much better in Tomb Raider 2013 than in previous Tomb Raiders. Yes.
