Maybe Shale, being a golem, is completely obviously with Fem Warden and assumes she & Leliana are just friends. Some real life people are like that, so maybe the talking statue is just as clueless.
On that note someone setting Shale straight could have made for some humorous banter. Maybe Alistair. Or Oghren, if it was going to be bawdy.

I really liked Shale. She was very funny at times, but seeing the ground tremble everytime she took a step made me nervous. Fancy getting stomped on by her. My squishy form would definitely be squashed

Shale and Leliana also have a dialogue, though I don't know if that's gender-specific. The Wiki says it is, but I don't know if that's the case.
- Shale: I notice the sister has spending a great deal of time with it.
- Leliana: With "it?" Oh... you mean him. I'm surprised you would notice such things.
- Shale: I am made of rock. This does not make me dense.
- Leliana: (Giggles) I suppose not.
- Shale: Does the sister not see a problem with serving two masters?
- Leliana: Hmmm. Ignoring the "serving" bit. I'll assume you mean the Maker. I´ve entered a chantry as a lay sister. But I never took vows. Even had I, the chantry doesn´t prohibit two people from comimg together in love.
- Shale: I was told that the sister left behind the service of the Maker to journey here.
- Leliana: You never really leave the Maker. Not in your heart.
- Shale: That seems like an argument for infidelity.
- Leliana: You... are very catty for a walking statue, you know that?
- Shale: It has been mentioned.
Dang it, that's pretty nice, I wasn't even aware Shale talks about your warden like this, I never rolled a bro romancing her.
Kinda wish you got the hair convo tho too.

A question was raised regarding Leliana's appearance in the E3 gameplay demo, mainly how she doesn't look like she's been in a medieval torture dungeon that's not of the fun kind. John Epler responded:

This got me speculating. What about her physical appearance in the final version of that scene could possibly be spoilery? Considering how and where the Inquisitor finds her and the dialogue that follows, her possibly having cuts and bruises and just overall looking rough wouldn't be any more spoilery than the sequence itself already is.
I'm drawing a blank, except for the thought of what if the Venatori infused her with red lyrium?
Something along those lines would also help explain (well, in addition to torture) why she seems super pissed off at mages in that scene.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw his reply. Or they somehow made her a mage? Put a demon inside her? Whatever it is, I think it goes beyond run of the mill torture.
It could simply be that she's wearing a different outfit that reflects her character's evolution during the game

Sheryl did say Leliana has 'adorable undies.' Maybe they didn't want to spoil the inevitable death of said adorable undergarments.
