um it wasn't an issue for Garrus/Tali or Isabela/Fenris... I think it's more of an issue that they just wanted to focus on the new characters and giving them romances as it should be.

What I've heard of Trevor Morris' OST for Inquisition does sound less generic than that in the previous Dragon Age games .

The most memorable piece of music from Dragon Age II is I'm Not Calling You a Liar by Florance and the Machine. The most memorable pieces of music from DA:O were elven ballads that would have felt right at home in Lord of the Rings.
My favorite was the drinking song at Tapsters. The words were in dwarvish but the subtitles were English. Awesome!

songs like qunari rising, too me were something that you wouldn't hear hollywod or in many other games. there is something fresh and very primal about it. while yes the music is somewhat "not quite there" yet, it isn't bad either. if thedas is like medieval europe, then the music would be very controlled and simplish. mostly with stringed instruments and grandparents to today's brass instruments.
by controlled i mean that the papacy pretty much wrote the rules on what music could sound like, the folk singers ignored them thankfully, but the pieces that were formally written followed notations approved by the church.
the music of the dragon age games to me, outside of the hollywood required themes, sound almost like a backlash to the controlled simple notations of europe circa 1200 ad.
that being said, i can listen to dark fantasy, and hawke's family themes all day long.
i don't know, this just screams DA to me and can't really be mistaken for any other setting
and this always makes me tear up a bit when i hear it
