It isn't rly manipulation kick dog systematically and he will escape when dog will see you and hide under the table , give cat food systematically and he will teach that you will give them food and will wait in front of your door.

Or it will attack you. All animals have distinct personalities, including humans. Some dogs will run away, others will fight back.

This Cracked article has some interesting stuff.

I don't know about the cats are dumb part. Some species are quite intelligent such as lions who use tactics not seen in other animals.

Chimpanzees and Otters have even been known to use tools and lions know to attack another lions spine when they fight.

Well only if you corner them at least in dog systematic case of abuse that was in case of my neighbor to the point when he always hide under the table when he saw him but then neighbor tried beat dog when dog was under the table and dog bite him then.

Exactly, lions prove the feline species are pretty smart. They use strategy when hunting and are know to create choke points and "herd" the prey towards other lions waiting in ambush. All of that without making a sound.

I'd be interested in knowing what tactics lions use that no other animal species uses. I find that claim doubtful.

Neither chimpanzees nor otters are cats.

1. The existence of one or even several effective solutions is does not make an animal smart.
2. Evidence is not proof.
3. Herding prey is something many pack hunters do.

I think I agree. But slightly lament the lack of the tasteless joke.

Is it too much to ask to see Leliana without a goddamn hood? Even fanart depicts her with it.

Lions are known to use common teamwork tactics that humans use:such as using numbers to take down larger prey and in the case of water buffalo which often prove too much for a team of lionesses wait until the male arrives.

They kill their prey in the most efficient way possible by suffocating or crushing their spine.Lions have a remarkable ability to sense where the others are in position without making a sound.

maria is right by the way.  yes many animals use tools and herd but that does not make them "intelligent" hell i really doubt intelligence exists.  but we all manipulate to get what we need.  whether it is food and attention like a baby does; or a cut purring to increase our desire for it's affection.  we all do what we can in order for our genes to survive.  there have been numerous studies on this and well richard dawkins has made a career on it.

some take the sociopathic route

some take the route of sure i'll help you, if you help me

and some do the altruistic route.

next time you go to a park, watch how kids react with each other.  then adults.  see the manipulations that are occurring.

lelianna, as much as i love her; was all about manipulation; even if she was not conscious about it.

i really recommend reading "the selfish gene" it is fascinating.

How do you define intelligence, then? *genuinely curious*

i think humans have created an aspect thought pattern that cannot be measured accurately with other forms of life.  yes we know ravens, dolphins and wolves are intelligent by these weird ass standards we created.  Which include recognizing oneself in a reflection.

but lets take a human, and put them in the wild and see how well they do without tools.

we are "intelligent" because we say we are; but i expect our pets (not dogs since they are inbred morons) like cats look at us and just go "fools" with the actions we do that they don't agree with.

of course i am claiming that other species  are able to have cognitive reflections and thoughts like we do, so this is based off of a fantastical notion in my head.

Well, if you take intelligence to mean 'ability to gain and apply knowledge', then most animals have a degree of intelligence. The idea of putting a human in the wild is slightly flawed: humans are herd animals. There are very few who could survive for long on their own in the wild, even 'experts'. Putting a group in the wild could lead to a very different result.

LoL i had 6 dogs in my life now i have 3... simple dogs can't manipulate because they don't have mental capabilities to do so.

Incorrect. Your view of dogs as dumb animals is not in line with the views of modern science.

Hare: We know that as a species, dogs are remarkable in certain areas, like taking someone else’s visual perspective, or learning from someone else’s actions. In particular, I’ve been interested in how dogs recruit help and how they take someone else’s visual perspective. However, most of my research with dogs has been about the cooperative way they use human communicative gestures. Or put more simply, how they can interpret our gestures to understand us or get what they want.

Scientific American - The Brilliance of the Dog Mind

"The average dog is about as bright linguistically as a human two-year-old," said Professor Stanley Coren, a leading expert on canine intelligence at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver who has carried out the work."

*snip*

Professor Coren, who presented his work on Saturday at the Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association, believes dogs are among the most intelligent animals and can rival apes and parrots for their ability to understand language.

*snip*

"They can also deliberately deceive, which is something that young children only start developing later in their life."

I think it started from manipulation and puppy dog eyes... or something.

That doesn't give much pretty much you can't be manipulated by two year old unless you are watching baby geniuses.

That's just classical conditioning, which is one of the psychological research subjects Pavlov is quite famous for. And it can be applied to us humans as well.

Can't be manipulated? So when a 2 year old cries in front of you, you would just ignore it?
