Am I the only one who thinks DAI doesn't need MP?The game mechanics would have to be revamped for it to work and that time could be better spent in other areas.

Depends on what the hypothetical MP mode would be. As a general rule, no significant revamping of basic game mechanics is necessary.

Not that I think the game needs one. Luckily, it looks like it might not happen after all.

No, it's not just you. I'd rather those resources go toward the core game, but I won't complain if MP is announced. I'm sure other players will enjoy it.

I feel the same

Yeah,ME3's multiplayer worked because the mechanics were already there for it to be possible.Dragon Age has always been about tactically controlling your party and pausing the action to plan your next move.

It's still taking resources from the project in the form of man hours and money.

Cj's point is valid to that extent at least.

Contrary to popular belief, that is not true.

The budget that would have been available for the MP wouldn't have impacted the SP budget.

DA's gameplay isn't suited for the typical multiplayer game types that many games use.Major changes are pretty much a requirement for it to be feasible.

You're still taking away assets to work on it though, nobody can argue that diverting resources to multiplayer has had a significant impact on the main game.Which is why games like Titanfall focus on the multiplayer only.

Which is why I said it depends how it would turn out. I don't really expect any type of MP to be 'typical' in this game. Neither horde nor PVP would make sense under the current circumstances, unless consistency with the SP story and lore wasn't an issue for them.

Those assets were never taken away from the SP

Some games say otherwise. That's why I like it when a game dev focuses on solely the multiplayer or single player. It's better than having a strong single player and a weak multiplayer or vice versa.

Some games probably don't have two separate teams

So long MP doesn't impact the SP in any way, I'm cool with it. :)

I think I've heard that line before.

Multiplayer isn't really relevant to the Leliana thread

Unless it's being used as a euphemism

Yes, actual game developers have said that MP does not divert resources. The BioWare developers have said it as well.

Electronic Arts gives BioWare money specifically for MP. If there's no MP, then BioWare doesn't get that money at all.

Yo baby, want to do some 4 vs 1 co-op? I upgraded my staff of force last night.

Well, let's make it Leliana relevant.

What type of MP person would Leliana be?

Either a spy type character with high damage or stealth or a long range type.

I actually meant more as in behavior. I don't know all those crazy MP terms :(

But yeah, as a character she'd definitely be a sniper.

She would stay away from the main fighting and pick off large enemies from a distance. You'd only see her during objective rounds or when she was reviving you, but at the end of the match, she'd have the largest kill count.

The only player archetype I thought of immediately is Oghren, who would be the prepubescent 12-year-old just stringing random profanities into sentences inbetween bragging of "all the bitches he's banged", how massive his dong is and how everybody else on the server are massive [insert homophobic, racist and/or misogynist slur] that are about to get SUPER PWNED by him.

Proceeds to ragequit once somebody kills him.

But he'd do it in an endearing way.

"lol L2P nub"

But I would disagree with your assessment. Oghren is the kind of player who Leeroy Jenkins boss battles and makes crude passes at female gamers, but he takes his losses like a man.

Now, Justice-possessed Anders? That's a ragequitter if I ever saw one.

It just doesn't feel like MP if you don't have one of those.

Would you believe that in all my time playing ME 3 MP, I never had anyone talk **** during the game? If anything, PC gamers are a very quiet lot.

I can think of at most 5 times where I heard anyone talk at all while playing with randoms, let alone talk smack.

The most **** I've gotten in online gaming has been in Magic 2013-2014 matches. They seem to be a touchy bunch.
