Yeah it really makes the most sense to send Cullen in that situation, mostly because he truly has the means to take them down.

I just hope she isn't in the hands of a Bolton like character, they enjoyed it too much.
Still think she will get tortured mainly using magic tho, horror spells and such, might switch it up and use physical torture too to really push her to the brink. Either way it's gonna suck. I'm hoping to avoid this scenario in my run if I can.
Why the knife to the face then?

On the subject of Leliana being tortured: I forget who pointed this out, but look at how she is restrained. She is hanging by her wrists. Her feet are not touching the ground. Her whole weight is supported by her wrists. That stuff hurts. Imagine what this does to her arm joints. *shudder*

I think her toes are touching the ground.
But all the same, it does indeed look very uncomfortable.

Threatening her. Like I said they could use physical torture too but I reckon mages would use more sinister forms of torture on their victims, mental torture through magic mainly. Dem brains could get fried, I think that's a worse fate than physical torture myself. This is all speculation right now, won't know till we play. Also she will probably be only wearing bloodstained rags when we meet her in that scene.
Or maybe if the torturer goes all Ramsay Bolton on her she could be missing a finger or a toe here and there, bit of flaying, old skool sadist. ![]()

Heck, he doesn't need magic for that. You can hear the torturer telling her 'you've got no one left to protect'. Being reminded constantly of what she has lost is not pleasant. And for all her 'anger being stronger than any pain', she looked more exhausted and ready to die than anything else.

Makes you wonder how long they had her locked up then. It must have been a few days at least.

You still don't torture people with their armor on. I hope this placeholder thing is the truth and she is just in clothing in the final release.

I'm sure what we saw wasn't the real article, they don't want to spoil us too much. She'll more than likely be in bloodied rags I reckon.

Mmm most of my knowledge of torture and interrogation techniques comes from literature i have read, they didn't stress that much back at training, they have their own specialists that they go through training to get that sort of skill.
That said i have heard knife work is fairly successful, the removal of toenails and fingernails tends to be the most commonly employed blade work, you then proceed to staunch blood flow by applying a cauterizing implement to the afflicted area, but of course in Thedas you don't have the majority of drugs that most intel agencies work with, so i'd assume the process would be fairly involved.
Even with Magic, you still likely would see most of the torture in question coming from plain instruments of pain, blunt weapons to shatter bones, bladed ones to remove non critical appendages that don't bleed much, The Taliban was fond of cutting off earlobes and the webbing between toes.

Well the trailers and PC Gamer she had the chainmail.
They did say that was a place holder because her actual appearance would be 'spoilery'. I'm wondering whether that was the original plan or a last minute decision after the backlash that ensued... *conspiracy mode activate*

I think it's a last minute decision because if it's so damn spoilery why are you showcasing it in demos and trailers

All this talk of torture makes me sad that they already said you wouldn't be able to torture people.
That was probably the funnest minigame in gta 5.
