There is no point engaging with these types of people. It's the same kind of people who claim Game of Thrones supports rape culture if it has a rape scene

 

That being said the GTA V torture scene was only there to get publicity IMO

Game of Thones supports rape culture because it has rape and then the actors anddirectors say "She really wanted it."

Even in the original books, it treats sexual assult by characters we're supposed to like (Jamie, Drogo) as being not as big deal as the sexual assault done by characters we're not supposed to like (The Mountain.)

Even as a (obvious) fan of the books and the show I know that it's extremely problematic in regards to it's treatment of rape and sexual assault. It's important to be constructively critical of the things you like, and try to look at them objectively.

Maybe not the place, and maybe folks should stop inserting modern 21st century, Western Hemisphere morality and cultural values into a place that such things are alien.

The show depicts rape and sexual assault as barbaric and horrible(such as Crasters Keep, can't think of another in season 4) - if you think this is problematic, then I think THAT is problematic.

Woah, woah, woah. I don't think that at all. I agree that the show depicts rape and sexual assault as something bad (99% of the time). The presence of those kinds of events in story telling isn't what's problematic. The whole event with the change in Cersei and Jaime's scene (which I originally perceived as consensual, but messed up, in the books) was problematic, as was the response from the writers/directors. The issue I have is generally with some of the messed up fan/critic perception and response which isn't the fault of the show, or Mr. Martin.

 

Rape is a very prevalent and underestimated crime. Rape culture is the culture that surrounds it, and it is contributed to by media such as GoT. (If you don't know what rape culture is/don't believe it exists then this discussion might as well not be happening, so don't bother responding to this) Characters like Theon and Jaimie who commit these assaults and are still treated as poor babies, or even heroes, and are not reprimanded in-book or in-show contribute to the "oh, it's okay, everyone makes mistakes, they have such a bright future ahead of them." mentality people have in regards to rapists.

 

Media influences the real world. Any basic level advertising class will tell you that. And when it comes to a crime that is already belittled and misunderstood depictions have to be very methodical and careful so as not to contribute to that culture. Game of Thrones is not always careful or methodical. Not many shows are. It doesn't mean that the show is all bad (I am of the opinion that the books handle this a lot better than the show), or that I'll abstain from it, but to me it is undeniably problematic.

Pretty much everybody I brought for the Archdemon fight got wiped the hell out, so I can probably see them all getting Archdemon nightmares. >>

I had a playthrough where Dog killed the Archdemon after Warden died last second.
