._. She doesn't?

If she was paranoid, she'd have moved from Chantry to Chantry, never staying in any place long enough for anyone to get to know her. Actually, since that looks suspicious as it is, she would have never joined the Chantry to begin with and struck out on her own.

If she thought people were following her, why'd she plonk herself in Lothering and be a sitting duck for over two years?

Meh, it could be argued that she was being savvy and maintaining her cover until a crew came along that could protect her. That would imply that Leliana is a great deal smarter than she lets on. Maybe she smartened up after the fiasco with Marjolaine.

Still, unless Sheryl comes in here and tells us point blank whether Leliana is a sociopath or not, the matter remains open for debate.

Option A: Leliana is stone cold sociopath, she's very smart, she manipulates people to get what she wants and she's good at adapting to a situation and adjusting her goals accordingly. The betrayal by Marjolaine was a miscalculation on her part. Being Left Hand of the Divine is not a bad achievement for a commoner born out of wedlock.

Option B: Leliana feels insecure in acting on her own behalf. She needs people with stronger personalities around her to guide her and make the hard decisions for her. She changes her personality in order to please the person she attaches herself to. She has a 'clan' mentality in that the only people who really exist for her are those close to her. That's why she had no problem killing/stealing/manipulating before. She only started feeling empathy for others after she got a taste of her own medicine and was forced to widen her view of the world.

I suppose that is true, but this thought has been nagging me since my initial playthrough of DAO years ago to be honest.

Things just seem to fall together for Leliana just so, like she was pushing things carefully in that direction, just biding her time, waiting, watching and preparing and bam.

Things end very, very well for her.

There are too many coincidences at work. There's no way she could have predicted Dorothea rescuing her. There's no way she could have predicted the Blight happening. There's no way she could have predicted the Warden coming through Lothering. And frankly, banking on just two Wardens successfully beating the Blight when they have been branded criminals is monumentally stupid. It's the longest of long shots.

For the record almost every companion in the DA series has characteristics that fall under the sociopath list o' traits.

A few i admit.

There's no way she could have predicted Dorothea rescuing her

Probably not no, but even so, Dorothea admits Leliana could have escaped WITHOUT her help, in the very DLC she helps her escape.

There's no way she could have predicted the Blight happening.

No, But then she didn't pick Lothering herself, although that turned out to be very, very beneficial.

There's no way she could have predicted the Warden coming through Lothering.

Incorrect, It's the first major settlement outside of the wilds for hundreds of miles.

Given the battle was going to take place at Ostagar, she likely saw the royal army going through lothering on their way down the Hinterlands, along with the greywarden vanguard.

Inversely, it makes sense for her to assume they will return the same way, this is further confirmed by A, the army returning that way, and B, every one else for a hundred miles going that way.

And frankly, banking on just two Wardens successfully beating the Blight when they have been branded criminals is monumentally stupid.

Is it? The Grey Wardens of the first blight faced worse odds, and yet they sill won, beyond that given that all life will perish if a blight is not stopped, there are many reasons to make sure the grey wardens DO succeed. Beyond that? It gives her a way out of Lothering and thus the advancing horde, and to get away from those spying on her.

It's the longest of long shots.

It's a gamble, but all of her life was a gamble, and this one had better odds then most in my eye.

I'd personally be amused if we learned that the Rose Bush coming mysteriously back to life that provided one of the "Signs" she got from the Maker, turned out to be nothing more than an accidental byproduct of Bethany and/or Mage Hawke secretly experimenting with magic in the dead of the night.

Leliana misinterpreted the omen. The flowering rose bush was but the first portent of the Elder One's coming.

It is prophecized that he will come after a Hero betrays a Fallen Friend, an Old God plummets from the sky, the Mother of Many turns against the False Father, a Red Beacon emerges from Roads Deep and the Horned Armies are turned away from the Black Wall. The Hunters from Tevinter and the Demons of the Breach are but the first of his servants

IA! IA! THE ELDER ONE COMES FOR US ALL!

What i hope is that bioware has also taken the time to let us experience how the relationship is between warden and leliana, and not just a random "they are still together" then it is not mentioned anymore.

Because we all want to know what has happened and so on.

The inquisitiors romances are in focus but i hope that they don neglect the previous romances we had from DAO

I'm pretty much with master warden z, whe. It comes to Lelliana. Things just seem to magically fall into place for her, and the way she says "he/she is dear to my heart' In DA2 always bugged me. It came out too smooth, and the way she looked sort of guilty when she says it.

It's like an unseen force is watching over her...

I for one think there are far too many conspiracy theories about Leliana, and was legitimately looking for repentance with the Warden and eventually just found her calling working for the woman who saved her life, and I don't think they'd throw all her development away for 'She played me like a fiddle!'

But that's just me.

. It came out too smooth, and the way she looked sort of guilty when she says it.

Didn't we just establish that true sociopaths don't feel guilt?

She was faking it! Even though she had no reason to even mention her relationship. Leliana never had a real emotion in her life! She was just pretending to cry in her cell, in case someone heard her! And she ate Schmooples as soon as our back was turned! And she doesn't really like shoes!

She planned it all to become Left Hand of the Divine! That way she can indulge her murderous urges while pretending to work for the greater good!

She's eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil!!!!sSig_conspiracy.gif

A blank slate character is like the protagonists of every Bethesda game. They have the barest minimum of a backstory (usually nothing more than 'You start as a prisoner') and practically no personality whatsover, with very little dialogue to define the character.

The DA:O protagonist isn't voiced but he or she isn't a blank slate. The Warden has a defined backstory (see the Origin stories) and plenty of dialogue that helps define who that character is.

Yep, it's up to the player to define the personality further, as in most RPGs. That's why it's a role playing game. Protagonists with pre-established personalities can alienate the player if they don't care for it. Looking at you, Jason Brody.

HEY GUYZ SO IZ LELIANA BANG-ABLE? TY IN ADVANS

edit: Leliana isn't a sociopath, I don't think. Being a sociopath is essentially having an on/off switch for socialising and you don't necessarily react AT IT'S BASE correct me if I am wrong. She doesn't ever lose that at all and she reacts instantaneously to things.

editedit: sociopathy is really barely understood by most people - a sociopath isn't an evil person just one that doesn't really get human behaviour all the time, if most of the time
