I've always been kind of torn on 'Sister Nightingale.'
On one hand, it sounds like an old nun name, on the other, it sounds incredibly kinky.
It's a Florence Nightingale reference but kids these days aren't interested in books or history.

Leliana isn't a statisian or nurse. Alternatively, the bird itself is associated with romantic poetry and death.

Falling in love with the lady who patches you up? Well, I suppose she is working to put Thedas back together again.

What makes you think it's a Florence Nightingale reference?
Leliana isn't a statisian or nurse. Alternatively, the bird itself is associated with romantic poetry and death.
"At Thebes, she wrote of being "called to God", while a week later near Cairo she wrote in her diary (as distinct from her far longer letters that her elder sister Parthenope was to print after her return): "God called me in the morning and asked me would I do good for him alone without reputation.""
Does that ring a bell? It's a also a very rare name.

Sry... but I believe that it isnt a reference to Florence Nightingale... I just see no conection between Leliana and her...
I believe that - above all - its a reference to the animal.

@ Star Fury, that makes a lot of sense. And it tells us quite a bit about how Leliana is going to approach her role as Spymaster.

This reminds me of people insisting that Morrigan is a reference to the goddess, Alister is actually King Arthur, and that shot of dudequisitor and friends at the table is based on the Last Supper.
Fans tend to see connections where there aren't any.
You can always ask Sheryl about it though.

Nightengales are strong symbols for poets. Leliana calls herself a poetess. That's all it is.
That and she spontaneously bursts into song at night. ![]()

Or they just never saw the similarity. Other than both having a bird in their name. It's a Florence Nightingale reference but kids these days aren't interested in books or history.
A bird which Leliana showed liking to all the way back in DA:O, in some banter with Shale. I'd say that's where the name came from instead...

Leilana was a bard. She sings. A nightingale is a common nickname for a singer. There's not much more to it than that...

I bet she and Edward Kenway could have great talks together about birds ![]()

Leliana knows how to sing. Isabela will vouch for her singing especially since it doesn't take much for Leliana to sing.

Pretty much what I was going to say, I don't see why we need to read any deeper meaning into it.
It's a bit like everytime people compare any picture of people around a table to The Last Supper. I bet that Leonardo Da Vinci would be mortified to learn that he'd accidentally ruined that kind of portrait for centuries to come...
A cigar is sometimes just a cigar, after all.

I don't think it's likely.

Would explain everything. The Maker got jealous after Leliana interacted with the warden (extra wrath points if you romanced her) and made the warden dissapear. Same thing happend with Hawke - except you can't romance her, but the Maker didn't want to take chances this time.
Waht a twist.

At the very least I've always found the relationship between her and Andraste interesting... she seems to have the utmost respect for Andraste and has a few things in common with her, the love for song and now the powerful position she has found herself in. There's that sort of weird attraction she has to her, and how that kind of influenced the relationship she has with the Chantry.
Which is why I don't believe that what the guardian said has much merit to it. I think Leliana didn't take what she said about the Maker speaking to her in a visual aspect as lightly as he suggested.

She looks like she did in the Sacred Ashes CGI trailer
Her best look! That's actually the lockscreen on my iPhone.

Guardian told she was lying about vision considering that guardian was speaking truth about every companion i don't see why he would lie here.Pretty much more you gain influence you have with her and know about her you can see that she is a hypocrite and changed a little pretty much after her mission she confirms that pretty much that she ended where she started only confirms that more.

He doesn't speak the truth about the warden far from it...
Hm all he says about grey warden is his past (based on origin) and that is 100 % correct and truth but as devs did it correctly in rpg game it is up to player how pc feels about their past about other companions he speaks truth as well only morrigan interrupts him...
He doesn't speak the truth about the warden far from it... Plus we know the Rose was a real thing because Alistair plucks it and gives it to the female romanced warden
And? how rose proves anything she said that she saw that after her "vision" pretty much if she was speaking about.
