Well he couldn't tell what warden feels as he rly can tell about it and as i said if you refuse telling about your feeling then spirit won't be able to judge you and speak about your feelings.
I am so happy that Leliana is coming back. II might now buy this game 
assassination ,manipulation and playing orlesian game... sorry but she did come back to what she was doing... hardly honest work. only thing that is difference is her master nothing more oh and perhaps that she have new excuse to do that.
From what we seen in the novels and DA2 she's mostly just a messenger girl who occasionally has to protect herself and go to parties. She isn't playing the game as the Divine is above that, but she chose Leliana for her skill to read people. We don't see her actively trying to manipulate anyone into giving her info so far but rather just as an observer.
Now obviously she might be doing something else in inquisition, especially since it seems the Divine might not currently be in the picture anymore... but that's not related to her leaving the Chantry in Lothering at all.

The fact that Leliana will be present in DAI regardless (probably) the fact that she might've remained in Lothering (I don't recall if the slide stated that she died here) makes me think that they might do the same for Sten.
She left lothering if you won't take her to party you will meet her second time near exit and she will want join again if you refuse she will leave lothering and go to orlais even her codex in da 2 says that.

I can imagine that Leliana set him free before leaving Lothering, since she was one of the most vocal about letting him go, despite knowing his crimes. From there, we could imagine that Sten made his way to Lake Calenhad, intimidated the scavenger, went to Orzammar, intimidated Faryn, then found his way to Redcliffe and intimidated Dwyn into giving him back Asala. Then he legged it back to Par Vollen to give his answer to the Arishok.
And hearing Corinne Kempa's voice in ads is strange... it's kind of like my reaction when I finally realised that the Experienced Elf, Lothering merchant and Jethann were all voiced by Mark Meer.

Yes then he found holly grail and defeated the cyclop then ze.. sorry arishok nailed him to a rock so griffon could eat his liver every day then the warden rescued him as one of the quest from king alistair. of course before leliana sneaked out of the warden camp for few days and s/he didn't notice and back to lothering just to free sten or specially for sten after she left lothering back to free him.
