So has Leliana's post-Origins relationship with Morrigan been discussed in this thread? It strikes me that as trusted advisors of the two most powerful people in Val Royeaux, their paths must surely have crossed, at least to the extent that they knew of each other's positions.

You bring up a very intresting point. If they'd cross eachothers paths, i imagine it would have been filled with animosity in certain playthroughs.
1- abandoning the warden in the U.S scenario
2- OGB
3- relationship status

Well exactly, and even ignoring those personal issues which aren't perhaps directly relevant to Orlesian politics, what did Leliana think of an atheist who dabbles in dark magic having the ear of the Empress? How did Leliana forwarding Justinia's agenda fit with Morrigan's schemes? It's all potentially quite fascinating.

Leliana's reaction in a playthrough with a male Warden romanced Morrigan and did the Dark Ritual is (hopefully) going to be interesting, since;
1: Leliana was clearly infatuated with the Warden and expressed some jealousy towards Morrigan, so there might be some lingering resentment.
2: Leliana has had a decade as Justina's top spy to learn that the death of the Archdemon always results in the death of the Warden who slew it, leaving the Warden's inexplicable survival a major mystery in-universe, one that even the Wardens are stumped by?
3: Even though she's (probably) not aware of the OGB, Leliana's no doubt heard rumours that Morrigan was seen in the months post-Blight, heavily pregnant with a child that was most likely the Wardens?
4: She's probably wondering why Morrigan left in such a hurry after the death of the Archdemon, which in retrospect seems highly suspicious?
5: If the Warden went with Morrigan in Witch Hunt, Morrigan knows their current location and knowing her, probably is refusing to reveal it?
I know it's probably too much to expect all of those things to be addressed, but it'd be nice to see at least one of them mentioned as reasons Leliana might provide the Inquisitor as why not to trust Morrigan?

So... Knowing all this, did Leliana try to interfere with Morrigan's plans in any way before the events of Inquisition? Did she attempt to subtly undermine Morrigan's influence at court? Did she perhaps thwart some scheme of Morrigan's with her spy network? Did Morrigan manage to somehow subvert one of Leliana's schemes for Justinia? There's such potential for history about which we don't yet know...

I could definitely see the two of them playing a game of cat and mouse with each other in court, trying to undermine one another. Although I wonder how much Morrigan is actually visible at court and whether or not she's content to simply remain in the shadows, while people like Vivienne do a similar job for Celene but in public?

Well, if Leliana had really wanted to mess with Morrigan she could presumably have sicked the Templars on her. Since she didn't, presumably they're not overtly hostile.
What? And cause a huge ruckus at the imperial court? That's not her style at all...

Well that would make two of them hiding in the shadows... Still plenty of room for intrigue!

Well... She's a spymaster and ex-bard. She's going to want to undermine in ways that don't draw attention.

Mmh. Since Justinia planned to recreate the Inquisition, it's quite possible that she didn't have too much of a problem with the Empress having an apostate for an advisor. It shows the Empress is open to unusual and different ideas, which would suit Justinia and, by extension Leliana, fine.

A fair point, but this apostate isn't even Andrastian. In fact she's an overtly anti-chantry atheist, and Leliana knows it from personal experience. Does that not perhaps go too far even for Justinia?

Maybe she has bigger fish to fry? Also Morrigan being so close to the Empress makes it risky to make a move against her.

That's why I'm envisioning subtle manoeuvrings! It would be cool if we find out some stuff in conversations with Leliana after meeting Morrigan. I'm probably way off-base somehow. Who knows what the writers have come up with? Gah! I want the game NOW!

I'm curious too how deep they went with the political stuff. 10 days and we'll know.

I guess that depends on how closely Morrigan is tied to Celene's agenda. We know Celene wants from Morrigan an objective view on magic that's not clouded by chantry teachings. Considering that Leliana's personal theology is actually quite at odds with typical chantry dogma...I don't think she would have a problem with that. But we know nothing about Morrigan's agenda, of course.

Yeah that's a good point. What's in Morrigan's mind is the key mystery, here...

Same here. My warden would have eventually told her lover what Alistair did to keep them alive.
On the other hand, I would be surprised if she knew for my Amell who romanced Morrigan and refused the DR. I see no reason why he would have brought it up to someone other than say Grey Wardens: "Oh yeah, she proposed me something weird"

I'd probably find it easy to avoid the subject, just mention that it involved naked Loghain and Lels might be all "ok, that's enough information I think".
