Do you think it might be because Alexius 'removed' the spell that was sustaining her youth or life? 

 

I mean, she does look awfully young for her age and if you killed her in origin she'd most likely had a bit of sacred ashes to survive and who knows what that thing is able to do. 

 

Anyhow, I'm never sending Leliana there.. nobody deserves that.

I don't think so. Leliana looks the same in DAI regardless of what you do in DAO in the Temple of Sacred Ashes. What I think happened is that Alexius, who was Dorian's mentor which would most likely make him a necromancer since Dorian himself is one, tried to sustain his dead son / dying son by siphoning off Leliana's life force towards Felix. 

 

So that means in order to cure Leliana from what we think at this point is accelerated aging, is to siphon the life force from someone else to her or to use advanced spirit healing magic.

I am sure it could. I mean, the developers' default World State is one full of tragedies. So most likely we can avoid it by gaining more power or using other methods.

The cutscene in the Gamespot video seems to me that happens after you kill Alexis, as far as I recall.

Well there's a choice I will NEVER EVER make, in fact I think that's the one choice all my playthroughs will never see, hopefully we really can have cullen murder the lot of them.

Oooh, boy. I never really had a heavy opinion on Cullen before, but now I'm going to trust him to run in there and burn the place to the ground like he wanted to do to the tower ten years ago. What if instead of sending Leliana we send Cullen and his soldiers. But this causes his soldiers to die and him to be captured instead.

Can you imagine the rage the Cullen camp/thread woul fly into if Cullen gets disfigured?
