Anyone else get the feeling that Leliana is one of them?

Welp, now Leliana is getting scarier for me. Sorry Warden, I wish I could have told her what you said about her in your letter. Seriously, why wasn't that an option?

I'm definitely going to have to redo this play through at a later date...if only I'd known that little spare or kill situation at the beginning would be important.

Thank you! I ended up figuring it out on my own. It brought back unpleasant memories of "The Girl Who Waited" episode on Doctor Who, but once I let the realities of the quest actually sink into my brain, I realized that I just have to deal with it.

Welp I beat the game and luckfully avoiding having Leliana

become Divine. I freed the mages and had Celene live and told them to work together. I guess sucking up and supporting to Cassandra worked out.

I like to think that the only thing that Leliana is happy about now is her love. She lost the Divine the woman who helped her save herself and bring peace to her mind. You notice it when she talks about the warden or even the divine she goes back to her soft spoken voice and giggles. But with little but 1 thing left in the world that she cares for, of course she is pretty much fed up with it all.

I can say though I'm definitely not fond of the conniving goal of being Divine by her. That definitely wasn't my Leliana I knew. Heck she wasn't this way when you run into her in Dragon Age 2 and her 2 appearances in the Novel made it seem like she was still kind.

The one interesting thing I found is the only times she wasn't acting and sounding all super broody heartless assassin was when she was talking about the Warden.

That gives me a small bit of hope at least. Inquisitor might not have been able to, but maybe my Warden can help her whenever she gets back from her little adventure.

I shall headcanon this as well. I'm kinda annoyed that there wasn't a slide for every character at the end. Instead of just.... 4 slides.

I agree the ending was underwhelming. The skyhold celebration was so meh when compared to the post coronation in DAO. Felt rushed and tacked on.

 

Anyways I reloaded a save at the end of winter palace to see if I could get and see what happens it Leliana

is Divine. I crapped on Cass and fully supported and agreed with Leliana. Never got a war table support mission but she flew her ravens away after I said I supported her.  Turned the game to casual and rushed through the remaining missions I guess the hidden variables were close because this time I got Leliana as Divine and all I can say is the writing is completely nonsensical. She spends all game talking about returning to the warden at Haven and after Adamant and if she's Divine there is no mention at all. The slides showed shes pretty good especially if unharded as she gets a peace with no bloodshed. After the epilogue she just says she has preperations then is going to Val Roleaux for good and the Chantry has no idea what there in for. The only time she doesn't sound like a heartless machine in the game is when she speaks of the Warden and you can hear the tone and sweetness in her voice but it's completely ignored in the ending. I don't know if it's a bug or oversight but it really made no sense why at least one sentence about a romanced Warden wasn't thrown in by her or the Inqusitsor asking what about the Warden especially since she talks about returning to them? I suspect that the whole Divine thing was added last minute as there is no flow and seems so sudden as a showcase of player "choices." I don't think it will happen but i REALLY wish Sheryl (her writer) would chime in to whats going on in a romanced Leliana case as Divine. I heard Cass mentions and breaks the romance if she is Divine but nothing is said in Lelianas case. It's like they forgot shes a DAO LI or like I said a massive oversight or nonsensical writing. I recognize the Inquistor makes these Thedas changing decisions but enough to influence Leliana to become Divine and completely forget about the Warden she talks about and has loved for the past 10+ years? Seems ridiculous and like I said nonsensical.I guess she gets mother Giselle to marry them when/if the Warden returns as a showcase of the new totally reformed Chantry. Lelaina as Divine sucks. At least a non DIvine you can headcanon she leaves to reunite with the Warden. At least I didn't get this on my save and this was just testing it out.

Seems odd they'd just forget that, given the fact there were actually quite a few Warden references from her before that and they were all really sweet. I mean, sure, Leliana probably thought about what she was going to do regarding the Warden in that situation, but it would have been nice to know.

Where does it imply that? Wouldn't be surprised, to be honest.

 

Also, like I said before, I don't think Divine!Leliana will break up with the Warden. Even if Cassandra breaks up with the Inquisitor, Leli is no Cass. I think Leliana has reached that point in her life where she doesn't take anyone's ****, and since everything about her being Divine screams CHANGE, I don't think she'd give up on them, not after her saying that she's lost everything and won't bare to lose them as well.

 

Also, to those who've finally finished the game, how much content does Leliana have compared to the other advisors?

So I was wondering if there was anymore references to the Warden romance. This is what I recall.

The convo about the Warden you can have at Haven.

 

When you reach Skyhold she mentions that with the Hero by her side she though she could do anything

 

After Adamant you get the letter quest and a bunch of dialogues and then the letter itself and a little speech when she gets it. 

 

In her personal quest she mentions that she traveled there with the Hero after the Blight. Apparently if just befriended she traveled there alone (can someone confirm?). It's like the Warden meeting her girlfriends adopted mother.

 

Also I don't know if it's from a romance import but when you can rescue a certain someone from prison Cullen mentions that she always had a soft spot for Wardens.

Who will poison the enemy with his special booze he brew it himself, and he'll interrogate his enemies by getting them to drunk enough to spit the information. Also being a dwarf come in handy when he need to stealth.

I think it will still be her.  It doesn't have to be time for her to take on the Divine role yet (they could take years to prepare).  She was made Divine in my game but said she'd be sticking around the Inquisition until then.

Still doesn't make sense that she could become divine with a Romance flag activated. You'd think that in some way it would perhaps lower the chances of her becoming Divine to Vivienne and Cassandra. Heck even an entirely new conversation where she would deny being the Divine because of the Warden. Unless she went full "dark" as it were and wanted power and after being broken/hardened by the inquisitor she just drops the warden (After 10 years.) which would make her pretty foul in my opinion. The Warden went on the quest for the cure for Leliana, so that they may live a long life together instead of her watching the Warden wither away in their sleep.

I always wanted to try and take a shot at a years later comic of that nature, very similar to the one an artist did of their warden and Zevran. Where Zevran notices the taint now manifesting itself as bruises and sores on the Warden's back and realizing its pretty much time.
I remember the comic moved David Gaider so much he actually wrote a little short story for it.

So, tried importing a save with Leliana dead (and the UosA defiled)... Did not have as big an impact as I had expected. Maybe more later, but I have to do 20h of hinterland missions first

Leliana didn't seem entirely enthusiastic about the idea of becoming Divine in my game. Not sure why, in some people's she seems to have really wanted it.

I'll just go ahead and believe the Warden crossed her mind when the prospect of it came up. Because...yeah, one would think your girlfriend trekking across the world so she can stay with you would cross your mind before you make yourself a chaste nun...

I'm interested to see what happens with this. I think how you evolve her personality might effect the chances. I sure hope it does anyways.

Especially because I told the chantry representative it was THEIR choice if they wanted to go be candidates, and Leliana doesn't seem very into the idea. Her whole sidequest played out in my game (where she's "unhardened" as it were) as releasing her from her duty and feelings of obligation to the Chantry. So I'll be pretty mad if she still gets roped into being Divine after all that.
