Found this little gem on tumblr.

Couldn't post it as a full image here, but here's the link either way.

Seems Cole finally figured out how to put honey in Leliana's wine. :3

Cole is learning, he's getting better :)

Also, have to say it's a delight to see Leliana in a more positive light in that drawing  , too many negative emotions throughout DAI  ;)

I must admit, I did a total fangirl laugh when I saw Leliana talking about shoes in the Winter Palace and then trying to justify it by saying she could tell a lot about people through their shoes. That may be so, Leliana, but we know.

There was also a war table mission where all the advisers suggest different ways to improve morale of the soldiers in the Western Approach...and Leliana suggested we requisition them some nicer shoes.

Oh you.

Who thinks Leliana has the potential to be an enemy in DA4?

Leliana is one of my favourite characters, but someone can only take so much betrayal before they become vengeful.

Hypothetically scenario:

  • Marjolaine seduces and discards Leliana, must endure betrayal from a lover and torture.

  • Warden claims to love Leliana, then tosses her aside for Anora when the throne is in reach. Leliana finds him with Morrigan in Redcliffe before last battle.

  • Divine Justinia claims to care for Leliana, but Leliana's services are too useful to her power/(or stability of the nation) to reach out and bring Leliana back from an increasingly downward spiral of expediency and ruthlessness.

  • Inquisitor befriends and relies heavily on Leliana and her agents for the survival and expansion of the Inquisition, utilising their abilities far more than the other advisors. When the time comes to select a new Divine, the Inquisitor supports Cassandra; because either knowing that as his lover he will extend his power, or not wanting the rebirth of the Seeker order and another military faction to compete with.

Leliana, like a dagger under the pillow that is clutched so tightly during the long night, is then discarded by all at the first rays of dawn.

How many times can someone be cast aside or put in second place before they strike back? Leliana's faith has carried her a long way, but once both the Divine and the Herald of Andraste both use her, perhaps that religious faith will finally break?

So in DA4 I could potentially see a bitter and hateful Leliana, who would perhaps be a lieutenant for the Big Bad in the game, before he betrays her as well (as is the way of so many other badguy lieutenants).

end scenario / rant.

I really feel bad for Leliana, of all the characters in games I like, she has to be both one of my favourites, while also being one I feel most sorry for.

Darth Traya: It is the destiny of all beings to betray and be betrayed.

*Looks under hood*

That you Leli?

I don't really expect to see Leliana at all in the future, or at least not much. They say the series is going north perhaps, so she's either Divine in the distant Val Royeaux, off who knows where with her Warden, whatever it is she does in a non-romanced non-Divine playthrough...

And if she does show up again, I doubt it would ever be that.

As much as I love her character I hope this is true. Through the games, dlc and novels I think her story has been told enough. Not to mention all the variables in her history would need to account for.  My biggest concern about a possible return would be this from her character interview:

Leliana’s Song shared her backstory, establishing her relationship with the woman who would become the Divine. In Dragon Age: Origins, Leliana is coming to terms with her past and trying to figure out who she is. In Dragon Age II, and the Asunder and Masked Empire novels, we see Leliana in her role as Left Hand of the Divine. It’s been a long road for her, and in Inquisition, we’ll get to see how her journey has shaped her as a person, and where the path might take her in the future.

But the whole "path might take her" I would assume refers to a certain ending.

Yeah. It'd also admittedly rustle my jimmies a bit for them to just separate Leliana and my Warden yet again, after she said she was going to join her for good this time. My feels would have been for nothing. >.>

Maybe in other outcomes she could be set for a brief cameo or something, but I kinda hope it isn't that scenario.

Has anyone else played through DAI with a dead warden who romanced Lelliana? Man, some of her dialouge makes me almost feel guilty; especially the one when u first reach sky hold.

Yeah, I imported one out of curiosity, and it was pretty bloody depressing. Seems like she lost all faith in the Maker even before Justinia's death in that scenario. :C

Spoiler

Didn't have much motivation to continue with that world-state...

I hope this is the end of Leliana, barring Inquisition-related DLC where she hopefully reunites with the Warden because I want to see that it would be totally relevant to the story. She's by far my favourite, but I think the best thing you can do with a character is recognise when their story has been told.

Also, the adviser war table banter I've had...

Cullen: If you squint, Lake Calenhad is shaped like a bunny.

Josephine: Perhaps we should take a--

Yeah, seems fitting to me that Leliana's story is over with Inquisition aswell :) , though I do want to see the next Divine's coronation as the Inquisitor in the near future, *cough* expansion *cough*  :P

On my second playthrough and I seem to have completely forgotten; when is Leliana's personal quest supposed to trigger again? After Halamshiral, right?

Its my first runthrough so yeah. I'm not going all the way back just to change it, so I guess I will see this depressing lelliana to the end. It does go well with the story though, and it makes me wonder if that scenario was more difficult to write. than just writing Lelliana being upset about the divines death.

it would have been cool, if the warden dying: turned her so bitter, that she became a villain. Imo

That made me wonders something, did Leliana ever get the chance to get the Warden's eyelashes and put them in a jar? Maybe that's what is in her lockbox...

I wondered the same about Leliana being catty with Morrigan, does she act that way even if the Warden doesn't romance Morrigan in Origins, or is someone still feeling a little jealous that her crush got nabbed by and had a kid with the swamp witch?
