I thought it abit strange that Varric had no flirts whatsoever, i remember female Hawke being able to flirt even tho it wasn't serious but the Inq never has the opportunity

I don't know why, but for some reason it'd feel weird to flirt with Varric. He seems a lot more... sad in this game than he was in DA2. But I know that's not a very good reason why you can't flirt with him because one can flirt with Cassandra as well and she seems really troubled by everything. Plus I'm probably one of the few who see Varric in DA:I that way.

I just think BioWare wouldn't want people to get their hopes up, considering he's such a popular character. I know that gives it a bit of a metagame reason but I do think that's it. And as for Leliana... I need a hug option instead of a heart option in every conversation with her in the game. Including a 10-minute hug.

lol, yeah. Cassandra pulling my Inquisitor aside and stammering to explain why she wasn't that into her was probably the most hilariously awkward thing in the game so far. :S

How did you get that? If I recall I made her smile, it was adorable. And after that no more flirt options.

'Give her a hug for me damnit' totally should have been in the Warden's letter. She needed it.

It was pretty soon after getting to Skyhold if I recall. I wasn't locked into any romance at that point, so I guess Cassandra still thought my Inquisitor was going for her in earnest. :S

The scene's been uploaded, I think...

I got that scene too, i think you have to be not in a relationship 1st & Cass will eventually talk to the Inq in private & nervously say she's noticed all the flirting towards her but that she's not into women

Id say Varric is more serious in DA:I while mostly being his normal self, unlike Leliana who goes from a idealistic person to a unforgiving psychopath who shows no mercy to anyone seen as a enemy to the Inquisition

... unless you stop her from having Butler killed.

I wouldn't call Leliana an unforgiving psychopath. Ruthless, yes, but she is in charge of a large network of spies facing a threat larger than life, responsible for the safety of the most important organization in all of Thedas (at that time). It's not particularly an easy job.

Don't you have to disagree about her spies too? even tho it makes the Inquisitor sound like a naive idiot

I'm not sure, I haven't actually gone through with 'softening' her in the game myself. But I don't think it's absolutely required, no.

Pretty sure it's required. Somebody a few pages ago did one thing differently in that one particular conversation and she ended up hardened.

How do you make Leliana Divine?

I ended up with Cassandra in my playthrough. That might have been the route I was going to go anyway, I'm just not sure how I got there. I know Vivienne has a war table mission to set her up as Divine, but Leliana & Cassandra didn't have a similar mission. And with both of them I just went with the 'You'd make a good Divine' dialogue options. Is there one conversation that locks in one over the other?

Apparently 'f*ck yo system' style choices like freeing the mages, Briala, etc. gear it towards Leliana, along with voicing opinions sort of like that throughout the game. Telling Vivienne, Cassandra, etc. that the whole Chantry needs to be overturned, and things like that.

Not quite sure how much the choices part matters in the whole Divine selection process, though. My Inquisitor expressed some views in line with Cassandra's, supported Cassandra through dialogue and the war table, and she ended up Divine, much to my relief - despite the fact that none of my choices favoured her at all. Part of me thinks your influence when you voice support for your candidate might have something to do with it.

This is your best bet. From David Gaider

Who ends up as the Divine depends on the choices you make in the major plots, as well as (to a lesser degree) some of the attitudes you express towards the Chantry. If you talk to one of the candidates, an operation will open up that allows you to throw some influence their way...but that is not necessarily going to ensure them becoming Divine if your previous choices have weighed very heavily in favor of a different candidate.

Just disliking the Chantry is neutral (depending on the context). Sentiments that suggest the Chantry needs to reform, or that it isn't doing its job, will push Leliana a bit closer towards being Divine. For her, however, the biggest influences by far are allying with the mages at the end of the Redcliffe plot and handing power to Briala at the end of the Wicked Eyes & Wicked Hearts plot.

Makes sense. I had the Inquisitor side with the Templars, and during the Ball forced Celene, Gaspard, and Briala to make peace which is still a victory of sorts for Celene. Also duing the chats about the Chantry I usually had the Inquisitor go with the 'reform' rather than radical change route.

I just recently finished a playthrough where Leliana became Divine, with a female elven mage Warden imported, who died killing the Archdemon. That's a worldstate I like the idea of Leliana becoming Divine in. Going to headcanon that her reforms regarding mages and elves were a bit...inspired.  :crying:

Probably going to make a canon one before long with a living Warden and her not being Divine though.

The way the Inquisitor says 'You have a history with the Warden who ended the Blight, don't you?' leads me to believe the HoF's love life is kind of well-known. In a romanced playthrough I'm thinking the Inquisitor probably knew the answer to that question before they asked it, and thus it would be inappropriate.

I'm pretty sure Leliana being in a relationship with the Warden is common knowledge. The codex entry for her in DA2 was really bugged but it was supposed to read:

Leliana is a legendary adventuress in Thedas, a heroine of the Fifth Blight and reportedly the Hero of Ferelden's lover. Some stories say she yet remains at the Hero of Ferelden's side, but other tales from Val Royeaux say she'd been spotted in the company of Divine Justinia. Rumors within the Chantry claim the Divine has a plan of her own—one that involves Leliana as her personal agent—but few know what such a plan might entail. Given that Leliana is a master storyteller, it's not impossible that these rumors are of her own creation. The truth remains to be seen.

So yeah I think people probably know.

It's tricky to be sure. I got a mission to support Cassandra as Divine and Vivienne still got the job. I think the war table mission depends on who you talk to first. I conscripted the mages in my playthrough. Next time I'll go with the Templars and disband them. I'll try to get Celene, Briala and Gaspard to agree to a truce. We'll see who I get after that.

That above picture makes me wanna boot up my DA Origins copy and replay through the game again with all the DLC.

The fact that there was no reunion scene with those three in DAI gave me the sad.

I wonder if they'd ever make a DA Origins HD Remake? I'm all in for reliving my Warden-Commander's adventures again, in HD this time. :P

I know I'm not the only one who lingers on her mission reports....

::raises hand::

It is not as bad as when I tried to open every locked chest in DA:O with my Mage just to hear her say "Allow me. I can do that for you." :)

I love Leliana, and I especially enjoy her more when she is more heartless. In war sorry you do what's needed to win. That and well I always enjoy my character's going off the beaten path and being a bit more devious :P. Thus, when she goes towards the more heartless side, I encourage it.

Even though encouraging that behavior may lead to a certain Grey Warden being tossed to the way side down the road? Look how fast she disowned and threw Justinia into a ditch when she is hardened. The Divine was one of her friends, close friend even and being hardened in Inquisition makes her then think that Justinia was using her (well she was but Unhardened Leliana sees what Justinia was getting at with the message.)

So whats stopping her from becoming so lost in the "darkness" of war and chaos that she just sees the Warden as something similar to the Divine? Something thats just holding her back. Especially for the power hungry hardened leliana who wants to be Divine. *shivers*

Crazy how drastic the differences are between hardened and unhardened for Leliana in this game. One reverts back to being kind and wants to INSPIRE the people to be better. The other is cruel, calculating and will silence any who opposes her with a knife to their throats.

I wonder what Sheryl prefers...

... probably best not to know.

I love playing devious characters, but something about this game makes me not want to do it. I want to be good. Same with Leliana.

...yeaaaaah I'm glad I managed to keep her unhardened this second time around. The new hardened Leliana and my Warden would...conflict. A lot. Not even sure how much she'd recognize her afterwards.
