I've been replaying Leliana's scenes and I think I was able to understand what she says when she has a knife to Felix's throat.
Alexius says "Let him go and I'll get you what you want." And she answers "I want the world back."

Mike said that they jumped up in the story, so it's possible that when he said that mages conquered the castle he meant the Imperium, similar to how the RT were invading Crestwood.
And I think Leliana's kidnapping happens after that quest, not before.

I may be missing some context but as it stands I don't like how Leliana slit that guys sons throat right in front of him. Makes me wonder if hardened Leliana is canon, because that is some cold blooded ****.
