While I understand the desire to play as Hawke, I wonder where it would fit within the game as it stands. The Fade? Crestwood? Some off-screen event that has nothing to do with the ongoing story? I think if there was to be an option to play as Hawke, it would have to actually mean something. In all the aforementioned instances where playing as Hawke might have been possible, it literally wouldn't change anything besides having someone other than your usual party to control.

Well of course the game would set up the Hawke-thing a lot differently if that were the case. I agree, just giving us the option to play as Hawke during what we already have would be weird, especially if then the Inquisitor is still there and gets turned into an NPC.

Ever since people speculated that you might be able to play as Hawke during the time he/she was present in Inquisition I've been wondering why BioWare didn't allow for that option.

Hawke could never have lead the Inquisition because there's too much bad history attached to that character. After all, Cassandra explains that neither she nor Leliana could have become Inquisitor because they're too "political", too tied to the Chantry ... and yet none of them was buddies (or even worse, lovers) with a terrorist and mass-murderer of Anders' caliber. A Hawke who bedded and spared and protected Anders would be the worst imaginable choice to hold public power anywhere. It would beat even Fiona's level of self-aborbed, unrepentant f*ck-uppery, and that is no small feat.

Edit: Oops. I totally misread your post, I think. Sorry! But, yes, suddenly switching player characters would have been really weird.

Here are, all, of the dialogue possibilities for a living female warden/did the ritual/ morrigans personal quest.

Here is the dialogue:

Morrigan"One thing that makes me curious: did you encounter the hero of feralden at adamant fortress?

Top  response (Im sorry)

Middle Response (It was very chaotic)

bottom response(Not that I know off)

Investigate option: (You knew her?)

If you choose all of the above 'choices'  after the investigate option then will get you the same reply:

Morrigan: ' She is not the sort of woman to fade into the background, if she was there, then you would have known.'

If however you don't pick the investigate option, and then choose the bottom last option, you get this:

Morrigan: When the Champion of Kirkwall mentioned a Grey-Warden ally. I assumed it would be she. It was afterall, just the sought of thing she would involve herself in. But that begs the question:  if the hero of feralden was not at adamant, where is she? My suggestion? Track her down. She could be a great aid against corypheu s or a terrible foe to the inquisition

Intrestingly, doing it this way will unlock the ' Contact the hero of Feralden Operation',  when I would normally get it from romanced Lelliana.

If you pick the investigate Option then you get this:

Inquisitor: Was  the Hero of Feralden a friend of yours?

Morrigan: We traveled together during that time she fought the blight.. She helped me I helped her. Indeed without her help my son might not have been born.Regardless, did you see her?"

(All of these dialogue possibilities were  taken directly from the game, recorded on paper, and typed on P.C. Courtesy of yous truly-ATEW   :D)

Thank you for finding and typing all of this up! :D

Interesting that you can get the Contact mission this way, too. Nice to see she still cares, considering how close they were/could've been. "If she was there, you would have known" just makes me wonder what she pictures the HoF doing when everyone around her is in a panic, summoning demons :P

"She is not the sort of woman to fade into the background..."

Morrigan, my Warden is a rogue. That's exactly what she does. :P

Never get that dialogue though, Wicked Eyes always comes after Adamant for me. Prefer Leliana's romance dialogue anyway.

Leliana scares people as much as Cory does.

Pity that she is not romanceable but then in real life also, the best ones (Leliana, Morrigan) are always taken ;) unless of course you are a badass Warden :D

Makes sense I suppose, I remember Patrick Weekes actually drew parallels between Leliana and Corypheus a while ago, both of them being believers who have lost faith in their god and gone over the deep end, calling Corypheus her 'dark mirror' of a sort.

...makes me even more glad I unhardened her after thinking on that a bit...

Don't worry, she's not a Mage. Also, not Tevinter.

That seems to be the basic requirement for trying to physically enter the Fade.

No, I do not count the Inquisitor. They never wanted to do it.

You're welcome :). I was a bit dissapointed that she did say anything about the warden being like a sister to her.

You should do Wicked eyes before Adamant, at least once :P

Nah, seeing how hopeful and excited Leliana gets before and after that operation, when reflecting on the Warden and when she gets the letter, is something I can't do without in a playthrough. Morrigan doing it just wouldn't be the same. :S

This is interesting and makes me wonder if there are bugs regarding this. Regarding Morrigan's comments about the HOF after Adamant I have only gotten them if I have not yet talked to Leliana. If Leliana has given me the war table mission Morrigan says nothing about them. If I didn't talk to Leliana and had Loghain as import Morrigan's convo stopped after I exhausted the tree-no mission or anything.

EDIT although I tried and did this:

If however you don't pick the investigate option, and then choose the bottom last option, you get this:

And got it with Loghain-import.

In the same situation with Alistair even if I investigate no matter how I end it she continued speaking and offered the operation.  In this case I could then go back up to Lels and she would talk all gushy about the HOF to me and re-give the mission.

Now If I completed the mission without talking to Leliana before, the war table text describes how they don't know where the HOF is-just scattered references as opposed to when Leliana gave it. When completed it mentions no second letter in the summary and you get no follow up from Leliana (the codex does mention her and the second letter though) So yeah. Seems buggy. Make sure to talk to Leli before doing the mission.

I'd think a romanced Leliana would get priority, so in theory you could simply talk to her before talking to Morrigan.

Edit: Didn't see the above post, but I still think talking to Leliana first, starting the War Table mission, then talking to Morrigan would work best. It'd avoid the bugs, you'd still get the full romance dialogue/letter, and you could still talk to Morrigan about Adamant. Thanks for testing it, mrcrazyman.

You only get locked out of the lelliana scene scene if you did not pick the investigate option and then choose the bottom dialouge option, and if you talk to morrigan before Leliana.

Thats really, really weird. I got the operation from Leliana, and was still able to get morrigans dialouge about the HOF. The only change being that the last dialouge just gives u the same response s the others, instead of changing it.

Yeah, it does sound like its bugged..

It's weird. If I talk to Leliana first when I go and talk to Morrigan she does the whole "So you spared the grey wardens from destroy goodwill...Still should a true archdemon arise...or so they would have you believe" But then just goes into her normal tree of Tell me more about you/What are you working on?/Goodbye. Maybe words travels fast down to the garden that Leliana knows where the HOF is so Morrigan doesn't have to ask if you saw her? Oh well. I've seen the dialogues in game so it's good enough for me

She's already making so many sweeping changes -- and I'm with the people who think that she's a tad too over-the-top successful -- that she's going to face a lot of pushback.

I'm surprised nobody came in to tell you that "it's just a fantasy game". They always do that to me whenever I point out unrealistic or implausible aspects of BioWare writing.

Some people just can't accept that there's an ending that isn't complete and utter failure. Some people are just too pessimistic.

I might have to try some science with the Wicked Eyes/Adamant quest order later. I'll see what I get.

I agree. I'm terribly sorry. I came into the thread, noticed that people were quoting that great Morrigan dialogue find by AWTEW, went back looking for it, noticed that post, and seized on it in a fit of mild pique because getting into arguments about that particular subject has basically been my last week here on the BioWare Forum. I didn't mean to actually start yet another argument with somebody.

Whatever I think about Leliana as the Divine - nice Lels or scary Lels, and no I'm not going to say whether I like what she does or dislike it because that is a separate question from plausibility - it is secondary to the fact that she is my favorite BioWare character ever and I love her to death.

We should have been able to make that Chantry Mother in Denerim who just wanted the world to have bacon Divine.

She'd be the best choice by far.

That's pretty much exactly how I feel.

I never do her Divine ending for a plethora of reasons that irk me, but she's still my favourite DA (hell, BioWare. I'm with you on that.) character of all time. Which is why I'm glad this thread has always stayed as the one safe haven from the more heated discussions about the whole Divine debacle. It's warm and cozy in here, and full of nugs.

I mean, we do Divine stuff sometimes, but not in a terribly serious way. I come here for the Leliana, not the Victoria, tbh.

Leliana 's mission overrides Morrigans if you romanced her. You can talk to both with no fear :)
