This smile gives me life doe.

second day in a row that I'm out of likes
*swears*
you can have mine
all of them
This smile gives me life doe.
That and when the party begins and she speaks with you I think are some of the only times she actually smiles and appears glad (Save for you know, reminiscing over the Warden and Justinia.)
I only wish the Warden-reminiscing scenes were proper cutscenes, so there would actually be facial expressions/something cinematic accompanying them. The zoomed out free-camera conversations are so boooring.
I usually just pan the camera over to someone's butt or something. Gotta find something to do during them...
And I've come to the conclusion that, for whatever reason, it's incredibly difficult to get a good screenshot of her in the final party scene. I have about 20-30 attempts and she looks high out of her mind and/or about to fall asleep in almost all of them. ![]()

*shakes fist* Smile for the camera will you!
Does Leliana have some scratches on her right cheek?

I think that's just some weird shadows/lighting/something going on. They're not in anything else, anyway.
I'm remembering how much I like her smile and her voice when she's happy and peaceful. And her imitating Josie after you resolve Valence peacefully made me laugh. She should do impressions more often. Plus, I still want to hear what trouble she got herself and Josie into with a twine ball, measuring stick and handkerchief, damnit! ![]()

...Well she does seem fairly pleased and kind of cracks a smile throughout the convo if you tranquilize the guy at the end of The Shrine of Dumat in the templar path. ![]()
Now you don't see this but for another smile as soon as you enter Valence and she says "Just as I remember it" she does break into smile but the camera cuts away for a Quizzy dialogue wheel.

Spoiler
I reckon that's a nostalgia smile right there, place brings back memories of Justinia and the Warden simultaneously. ;_;
...though not happy ones if the latter is dead, I guess...
Hmm...someone on the Nexus made a bunch of retextures for Leliana's outfit that are actually kinda pretty.
Spoiler
Love those designs! Yeah, chainmail doesn't really feel right for her, especially considering she's all about the sneaking and the inflitration and the picking the snot out of a man's nose with a longbow at two hundred paces. Think the blue colour scheme is the best as well; kinda imagine she's wearing it to show solidarity with the Hero of Ferelden (Warden colours and all that, you know?)

The fake smile and the voice she makes crack me up every time ![]()

And I guess this one counts as a smile too ![]()
Ooooh yeah. That exasperated fondness! One of the best facial expressions in the game, and it also shows the depth of their friendship and understanding.
Leli and Josie seem to exchange the understanding look a lot. Like the 'Oh lawd Varric I know what this means' upon hearing about Hawke.

I really love the sisterly bond they set up with these two. One of the best BrOTPs in this game. Glad they went that way with them, instead of the other speculations before release. :S

I'm conflicted about it, actually. I think there was much potential for either kind of relationship between them; there still is, if you go through the game unspoiled and don't get the "older sister" line from Josephine (which I didn't in my second pt). They could have left things open to different interpretations without necessarily establishing the sisterly bond (or a romantic one) as canon, at least for people who didn't choose to romance them in DAO or DAI.
Oh well. I guess Bioware really, really wants us to ship Leliana only with the Warden, regardless of other world states. This doesn't keep the Josie/Leliana dynamic from being my favorite thing about DAI.
Okay the fact that I'm still bitter about Cassandra and not exactly fond of Blackwall might also play a part in this. Don't mind me.
I just think a sisterly bond between them is so much more meaningful for both of them. I'm someone who (generally speaking) thinks extremely close, basically-familial friendship is just as good as a romance sideplot - sometimes more so. I'm really glad they depicted the relationship between Leliana and Josephine that way, rather than just shacking them up. Not all bisexuals have to be intimately involved, srsly.
There's also the fact that anything that isn't Leliana/Warden makes me twitchy. If I actually had a world state where she isn't romanced perhaps I'd be a bit less vehemently opposed, but part of me took no small measure of satisfaction seeing the Josephine/Leliana ship get run into the ground. Warden/Leliana is only OTP as far as I'm concerned. ![]()

Agreed on both counts. Leliana and Josephine have exactly the sort of bond that I'd like to see more of, especially between women (who too often exist only to be the obligatory trophy-girlfriend).
Their very brief exchange at the victory banquet is another example. I swear Josie secretly enjoys panicking over that sort of thing -- it's a nice chance from saving the world. ![]()

I... yes, I'm perfectly aware of that, thanks. I didn't say they had to. ![]()

Varric says something to that effect if you ask about her. 'If you see Josephine running around in a panic, she's fine. I think she enjoys it, actually.'

He has choice words about the others too. Listen here.
DAI Leliana is superbe.

I always thought that look they shared the. was a mutual understanding of 'she will kill him..' like they both thought it at the same time. Haha makes me wonder if they have to babysit cassandra behind the scenes..Leli and Josie seem to exchange the understanding look a lot. Clever mercy, how fitting of lelliana.....Well she does seem fairly pleased and kind of cracks a smile throughout the convo if you tranquilize the guy at the end of The Shrine of Dumat in the templar path.

I think Leliana's backstory doesn't leave a lot of room for there to have been something more than friendship with Josephine. Besides their friendship not really being established until after the Blight (of course that could have been written differently), I was under the impression that Marjolaine may have been Leliana's first serious relationship as an adult, and was probably the only relationship she was in the entire time she was a bard. They were together for a lot of years. And then after Marjolaine she has potentially been in a 10 or 11 year relationship with the Warden.
Assuming Marjolaine was Leliana's only ex as an adult, that would pretty much just leave Leliana's dalliances as a bard. But that wouldn't work with Josephine, since that's 'business' and a slightly exploitative relationship. It would be hard to see how they could remain friends after. And it might be OOC for Josephine, since she's not one for casual relationships.

It would have probably worked for a world state in which Leliana isn't romanced, but that sounds like an amount of work that they didn't deem necessary so we got what we got.
I see it working just fine without a romanced Warden.

Even so, it's nice to see two women being close friends. There aren't many strong female friendships in games.
