Lels will bend the rules to suit her personal needs I'm sure of it. It's common knowledge she's the HoF paramour so with her making as many radical changes as it is I don't think many will bat an eye towards her keeping her lover close.

I know what they said. But looking at it strictly in-game, the Warden seems to have been completely forgotten in that whole thing. One of the many reasons her suddenly having no reservations on becoming Divine whatsoever is so annoying. You'd think having a lover of ten years would give one pause, but nope. :/

Especially when your Warden is someone who would not be compatible with that lifestyle at all. They can't keep track of that, but a more neutral response from her would have made it better. Better than the kid-on-Christmas-morning way she seems to think about it now. :/

And them actually replying to that Twitter question has always seemed like a serious 'Oh crap we probably should have thought of that beforehand...' moment.

I really think they forgot about that entire thing.

That's not the only place where that happened. The Keep shows that they didn't take into account that some people would both romance Leliana and kill her, for example. Same thing with Morrigan. The Dev Team didn't think of everything.

Well, that one is pretty obscure so it's understandable it slipped their notice.

Not sure how they didn't notice how annoyingly jarring going from 'I love her so much and I will drop everything to rejoin her forever and ever soon' and then flipping to 'Let's become the Thedas equivalent of the Pope! Warden? What Warden?' is, though.

Giselle would have been an awful choice.

It's still kinda weird that she isn't one at all, though. Nor is the possibility even discussed with her (from what I recall). You'd think she'd be seen as an obvious candidate to at least some of our circle.

I actually thought Giselle was going to be Divine before they threw in the "oh yeah, time for you to decide who becomes Divine! Now. Oh, but also all these other choices and things you've said contribute, did we forget to mention that?"

I'd say Hufflepuff.

Her Patronus is a nug, obviously. :P

Hahaha yes! I hadn't even thought of Patronuses

Ooh, that's a tough one. Honestly, like you said, she has traits which could put her in all of the Houses, so let's see how she doesn't fit.

Slytherin is the house of the cunning, but also usually has ambitious and self-centered members, something I don't particularly see in Leliana.

Hufflepuff is the house of the hard-working, selfless, but also of fair play - something Leliana isn't. However, Hufflepuff is also the house of loyalty, which is very much present in Leli.

Gryffindor is the house of the brave and daring, of nerve... but also of chivalry. Not sure if Leliana fits in the Gryffindor common room.

Ravenclaw is the house of the intelligent, those with knowledge and wit.

Leliana is basically one who I could see put in either of the Houses... maybe we need a new House for her. I guess you could say Origins' Leliana is a better fit in Hufflepuff, and Inquisition's Leliana would lean more towards Slytherin.

It's interesting, because if you think about it, the students of Hogwarts almost always fit in the archetypes for their respective Houses... something which doesn't quite fit Dragon Age characters, I don't think. Maybe it's because Rowling has a very... strong belief of those Houses reflecting people in real life.

Agreed. I'd be inclined to say Hufflepuff over Slytherin, if only out of her own personal choice. Besides, if it came down to loyalty or fairness, I'd see a Hufflepuff going with loyalty. Leliana would be more than willing to do shady things for the people she cares about, because she cares about them.

Ravenclaw. She's not ambitious enough for Slytherin, not chivalrous enough for Gryffindor, and lives primarily based on her mind.

I've worked this out for a few other characters as well!

Josephine: Hufflepuff.

Cullen: Gryffindor.

Cassandra: Gryffindor.

Varric: Hufflepuff.

Solas: Unknown, given the haziness of his true background and goals.

Sera: Tough choice, but I'll err towards Gryffindor.
Vivienne: Slytherin.

Blackwall: Gryffindor.

Iron Bull: The alien aspects of qunari culture might skew him away from any point that could be well-represented here.

Dorian: Tricky, and could honestly go any way. Maybe leaning a bit toward Slytherin, or possibly Ravenclaw.

Cole: If any could be considered applicable, Hufflepuff.

Great list! I'd lean more towards Ravenclaw for Dorian, given how much time he spends in the library and the fact that he wasn't willing to give up himself for his family's ambition. But Cole is absolutely a Hufflepuff...and I may or may not have read that as "Cory" the first time. The image or Coryfish chillin' in the common room by the kitchens amused me far more than it should :P

The way things are with them it's seems like an eternal long distance thing anyway, HoF is running around the west somewhere trying to find a cure to his/her slow death. He/she is busy with that, Lels being pretty devout and driven I wasn't all that surprised that she was pretty enthusiastic about taking on the fantasy Pope job given the ideas she has in mind. Both have made it work in their own way this long, I don't think Lels will toss her partner aside so readily now given that she is the Divine. Have faith Snooks, she loves the Warden too much to let her/him go that easily, the Warden doesn't need to be in the public eye, he/she can still support her from the shadows if they are uncomfortable in that environment.

I like seeing Lels spread her wings though as much as I love my warden I'm happy to see her being her own woman.

Forgive my lurky ignorance, but what twitter question?

Someone asked what becomes of the Warden relationship in her Divine ending, and Patrick Weekes said it'll be a dirty secret for a while until she changes some rules. Sheryl Chee then confirmed that.

So, they had to answer a glaring question via Twitter because it slipped their mind in-game or something.

That kind of thing happened quite often back in the Mass Effect days. Lore questions were being answered/clarified on friggin' Twitter because the games never bothered addressing them.

It was taking too long to find a female elf warden to make this meme with.

See, that's one of the biggest problems right there. Leliana doesn't seem to have an issue with the fact that the Warden is going to come back after years of searching because they wanted to be with her...only to come back and potentially have their heart broken because she went and became Divine without even thinking of them at all. That...that is seriously bleh.

he/she can still support her from the shadows if they are uncomfortable in that environment.

Having to hide to stay together seems like a pretty miserable existence to me.

I like seeing Lels spread her wings though as much as I love my warden I'm happy to see her being her own woman.

That's all well and good, but this should be something that gives her pause. She's potentially ruining a relationship she's had for ten years. The way it's presented in game doesn't give me any good 'Aww yeah you go girl' feelings. It just makes me think she either forgot or has no consideration for her long time significant other's thoughts and feelings whatsoever. She can still be her own woman while not doing that. :/

I'm interested to know if it was planned but forgotten, planned but cut or just plain overlooked. The last would be odd given they have references of warden romance and leliana becoming divine is hardly an obscure choice.

At the end of the day it's open enough that I feel it's perfectly feasible for her to correspond with warden lover on the issue before Leliana announces she wants it. She so radical as divine that I equally find the conclusion that she'd find a way to continue her long-term romance probable unlike conclusion implied in cassandra romance. Obviously I would have preferred it to be properly referenced rather than left open ended.

Seems unlikely, but some post-end DLC mentioning it in-game would be nice, regardless.

That kind of thing happened quite often back in the Mass Effect days. Lore questions were being answered/clarified on friggin' Twitter because the games never bothered addressing them.

Not to mention killing characters off via Twitter and replacing them with a reporter that, from what I've seen, nobody actually likes <_<

I'd rather stay out of this particular arguement, but I'll give you that Leliana even says the Warden is searching for a cure as much for her as themself.

If we're looking for a villainous Hufflepuff, Meredith might be a good candidate.

Contacting the Warden in the uncharted middle of nowhere seemed like a serious pain in the arse to pull off, so I highly doubt Leliana and the Warden had any regular correspondence afterward where they discussed this. Which one should do before wanting to make a life-altering decision that will effect both of you.

Yep. Apparently that slipped her mind. :/

I think Leliana's just absolutely confident that this won't screw over the Warden.

Who says the matter wasn't raised in that contact and responded to in the private letter. It's hardly as if Leliana wouldn't have known her name was being mentioned as a possible divine candidate.
