Yeah, I've spent most of my points on the Secrets perks so far, it's always the first place I go when I have points to spend.

Even when I have no points, just because Leliana is there.

Leliana's skill tree is probably the most practical of the bunch. I always make sure to put it to good use as early as possible. Cullen's tree is also pretty handy.

What sort of life do y'all think Leliana would want to live after she retires from the Inquisition (or being Divine. Not sure how that works)?

After DA:I, my Warden and Leliana will have the life of adventurers!

Really, I imagine she'll still get up to the kinds of stuff one would expect a former spymaster/bard with the Hero of Ferelden to get up to, (adventuring!) hopefully just without anything as morally taxing and mentally exhausting. Staying away from the spying, assassinating and such that did nothing good for her. She sounded like she rather liked the idea of dropping it all, so I reckon that would be about what she wants. And probably needs. One of the many reasons I always have Cassandra on the Sunburst Throne.

...get a lakeside cottage somewhere in Antiva for downtime, as I was saying earlier...hmm...

Well, I don't think she can really retire from being Divine, the position is for life. Besides, she probably wouldn't want any successor to roll back her reforms, so she'd stick with it for as she was able.

If she's in a romance, then yeah, she'll be with the Warden, no matter what he or she ends up doing (or continuing their long-distance relationship if she's Divine.)

If neither of these conditions happen, then I could see her adventuring, like Snook suggested. If she really wanted to get back into the spy business, I'm certain Alistair would be happy to take her on.

Speaking of Leliana adventuring, I thought this was a good read if you like fanfic :)

I usually agree but it was well written enough it didn't matter to me. It could be read as friendship, since it happened years ago and nothing necessarily comes of it.

That was actually pretty good (and I don't even ship them).

Definitely well written, enjoyed it. They captured the characters well, even if the Josephine/Leliana ship still irks me as they've said there's no romantic history between them and Leliana is romanced in the vast majority of my runs so I'm incapable of ever agreeing with it. But, fanfiction is fanfiction.

It's not long-distance.

And Kieran. ;)

Or maybe she already has, since Morrigan accuses her of having a bad influence on her son. :P

Morrigan thinks of my Warden as her sister. Leliana and my Warden are long-time lovers. Therefore, Leliana is Kieran's honorary aunt.

The cool, crazy aunt.

Aww yiss.

Funny that Morrigan became gentler while Leliana became harsher over the years.

Yeah, the role reversal they did is interesting. Makes sense; Morrigan was living comfortably and away from her problems, potentially with a son to mellow her out. Her life had improved. Leliana's, meanwhile...she was dragged right back to where she was before. Killing, spying, all of it.

And when you think about it...in some cases, Morrigan became a mother, while Leliana lost the woman who might as well have been her mother. Leliana's life went south fast while Morrigan is probably happier than she's ever been.

It's a shame the two of them never really interacted to highlight how much they've both changed.

It's a shame they never interacted, period. I don't know if this was an oversight but Morrigan and Leli barely acted like they knew each other in this game, which is just weird considering everything that happened in DA:O.

It's actually one of the oddities that I noticed right away.

The writers sure love to put Leliana through the wringer...

Some will argue that Cullen has had it worst, but I honestly think Leliana's life has probably been the most tragic. She's up there with Fiona and potentially Hawke (if you killed off their mother and both siblings).

Both Cullen and Josie still have their siblings and parents to cling unto, while Leliana has, well, no one really, except the Warden, and Schmooples II. Makes me wonder who are those few friends she mentions that she deeply cherishes. Except Josie of course.

They still don't seem to like each other too much, so it's not surprising they weren't buddying it up or anything, but yeah. Some sort of interaction was sorely needed.

Same with Warden Alistair and Leliana, tbh.

Hmm...the Warden, (Even when not romanced, I've heard she apparently calls them the only person she trusts completely.) Josephine, maybe one or two people we don't know about. Maybe some of the others in the Origins cast she stayed in contact with. She calls Zevran her friend, though I don't imagine he's a 'deeply cherished' one, given their interactions in Origins. :S

All we have is the dialogue about Morrigan's dress.

It's mentioned that Leliana has changed her views of Morrigan and

Spoiler

I'm sure Leliana and Morrigan had some conversations. I can headcanon them and I think it would be a nice material for some fame fiction. In my world state my Warden had a love triangle with Leli and Morrigan and did the DR but he loved Leliana. I think it's quite logical for them to have those chats in private.

I like to headcanon there was some off-screen conversation where Morrigan tried to ask Leliana about the Warden's whereabouts. While trying not to sound too concerned. Even though she really is, because my Warden and Morrigan were like sisters and the closest the latter has ever let anyone get, and might have been a bit worried when she saw she wasn't with Leliana. Especially on top of the whole Warden debacle at Adamant.

Maybe Morrigan would tell Leliana to let her know that she regretted the way they parted, whenever she gets back. Because my Warden herself is probably never going to see Morrigan again.

Hmm...feels.

I was just thinking: if we romanced Leliana with a manipulative Warden who cheated on her with Morrigan, hardened her and then defiled the Ashes (you can bully her into not attacking if she's hardened), it would explain her frosty yet concerned attitude towards Morrigan. It's possible the Warden will treat her just as badly.

That little scenario would also mean that she hasn't been truly loved by anyone but her mother. Marjolaine, Justinia and the Warden all used her for their own purposes. And Morrigan's childhood was horrible and isolated from contact.

Notice how they both have someone they dote upon: Josephine for Leliana and Kieran (possibly) for Morrigan. Leliana and Morrigan have in a common a great need to give and receive affection that was twisted and abused by someone in their background, Marjolaine and Flemeth respectively. They are both dreamers too. Leliana through her religion and she focuses on the future and change (her plans for the Chantry if made Divine) while for Morrigan it's through magic and she focuses on the past and preserving/rediscovering lost magic lore.

They have more in common than either would care to admit, I'm sure.
