They did. Both Patrick Weekes and Sheryl Chee (you know, Leliana's writer) have said she would change the rules. Here.

As I recall this was pointed this out to you before and you dismissed it as headcanon. Patrick Weekes and Sheryl Chee don't count as devs?

So they did. I stand corrected then. I don´t recall seeing this before but now I do, the link I mean. Could it be I was referring it to be something they just said and not in the game I guess (even they are the writers). Since for people who do not follow devs twitters or this forum can´t know about that line of thought.

Since Kieran and the DR got brought up... am I the only one who was totally floored by Leliana's acceptance of it in Inquisition? Not that it's a bad thing--or a good thing, for that matter--it's just I honestly expected her to be much more against it, especially if a romanced Warden fathers the baby.

I remember that was one of the choices I really bit my nails over in my romanced Leli playthrough. My assumption was that, had we the chance to speak with her beforehand, she'd pull an Alistair and be like "no no noooope, dark sex ritual?? Deadbeat dad? DO NOT WANT", but she... seems pretty okay with it? Huh.

And another thing... for those of you that hardened her in Origins, married Alistair/Anora and kept Leliana as your mistress... does that still apply if you unharden her in DAI?

I remember that I tried to look for the option to explain the DR to Leliana. In my headcanon there's a truly dramatic reaction. I had the love triangle, you know, it's hard for anyone to admit the DR on that scenario. But, it seems Morrigan was right. Leliana would admit the DR as a way to safe a life.

Even with Patrick and Sheryl exact words I still think they are talking about Leli's intentions and not what it's going to happen, or else that would mean the Warden will return and the Cure Quest will end (on a good or a bad way). And that's a much bigger thing than Divine Vicky's lofe life.

Even if they were talking about her intentions, it's still a much-needed reassurance.

Sorry if I sounded aggressive. There are a lot of minor oversights in this game when it comes to the characters, both in imports and in the game proper. The lack of interaction between old friends/comrades Leliana, Alistair/Loghain, Morrigan, etc. Leliana switching between cold disdain and warm affection when talking about the Warden based on certain Keep choices. It was funny, in a way, but still...

Don't worry, I was not offended. I mysel have a tendency of sounding a bit blunt, but it is only my way of writing. I agree with the lot of missing things too.

i was a little surprised to hear Leliana still liked Kieran and was grateful to Morrigan in an import where a Warden who romanced Leliana did the DR.

Part of me was thinking she'd pull a Catelyn Stark with Jon Snow kind of thing.

I always envisioned Leliana being a bit cross with my Warden for a while, because she's making Alistair do something he really doesn't want to do in order to save her own skin, but I've always figured she'd take it over the alternative; her being, well, dead.

Of course, her being cross with her was probably averted by the usual desperate 'we're probably about to die' smex they were no doubt having in the other room. Not sure why I had to watch Alistair and Morrigan's creepy candle scene...

So...I was fine with her seeming to like and accept Kieran pretty fast. I quite liked the sort-of-an-Alistair-reference she drops.

I would have expected a male Warden who did the ritual themself to get a bit more of a mixed reaction, though.

Wait, how does that happen? I've heard of a bug with Morrigan where (even if you're a female Warden) if you make your Warden stab her in Witch Hunt she'll be confused and think you've romanced her for whatever reason, but I've never heard of any weird bugs with Leliana.

Poor Alistair had the expression of a rabbit about to be eaten alive by a wolf in the DR scene. But at least if the female warden was romancing Leliana that moment didn't had cheating implications. There are people out there that had to take a choice with a romanced Alistair scenario which is much worse. Sacrifice your character, his boyfriend or make him bed that witch...

That's the thing with Bioware games, a few variables, some grey situations and they inspire so many interesting headcanons. They know how to hit in the feels.

Simple. Pick 'romanced Leliana', 'Defiled the Ashes' and 'Leliana dead' in the Keep. When she talks about the Hero of Ferelden, one minute she'll be snide about how the 'hero struck me down', the next she'll be all sugar about her love. They didn't account for that possibility. She alternates between the two.

Yep. If you make the Warden a monster and the Inquisitor too, Leliana really needs an 'how to spot a jerk' check list. Marjolaine, Justinia, the Warden then the Inquisitor... can't catch a break.

Originally, though the idea was thankfully scrapped, the Inquisitor could become the Divine. Leliana and Cassandra were not happy.

Notice they're both crying. Leliana also seems to have gone through Alexius' 'experiments'. Brr.

That Inquisitor deserves a 'present'. smiley-throwing-bomb.gif

Huh.

I guess they didn't think there were any people horrible enough to romance her and then kill her, and thus the scenario slipped their mind. :S

Either that or murder. Also, is that Cory's head on the Quizzy's staff?

Can I ask what everyone's favorite origin to romance Leli is, and why?

I think city elf is the best to romance considering the elf dialogue, how accepting Leliana is, and Leliana saving the city elf's mom in her dlc

Partially bias towards my canon speaking, but Dalish is my favourite. I'm a sucker for cultural difference, which there's a pretty huge amount of between a Dalish Elf and Leliana, (Leliana's whole life is based around other people, has had a comfortable life in considerable luxury once...Mahariel lived in a forest and has probably met like one or two humans in their life.) and the elf-specific conversation with her is probably one of my favourite bits of dialogue in the series.

Always fun from an RP perspective too. Perhaps my stubborn Dalish woman getting over her mistrust and opening up to this Andrastian woman isn't the most original tale in the book, but I like it. :3

Hmm...when I think about it...my Mahariel was rougher on the outside but softer on the inside, with significant amounts of experience with outdoors-ey stuff, hunting, skinning, survival, generally rougher stuff and the like, but she hasn't actually seen very much of the world...while Leliana was softer on the outside and rougher on the inside, sweet girl, loves nugs, shoes, flowers, but who's actually the more grizzled and worldly of the two deep down...never quite thought of it like that before...cool...

Got to agree with this. I don't know about 'best', but I thought the Dalish-Leli romance was wonderfully crafted, and I enjoyed it way more than the Cousland version which didn't really stand out.

I will say the City Elf romance does have a unique poetic side to it though, considering what happens in Leliana's Song (which to this day is still unknown to many, particularly those who never played a CE in the first place).

My favorite is with SnS Female Cousland Warrior. Mainly because the HN origin is my favourite origin tbh.

I roleplay her as someone who hides her shyness with stoicism. And after the Cousland massacre, she becomes even more careful around others (and quite depressive), starts doubting her own value in the world. For example, I don't think she much cares if she dies in the Joining at first but starts healing by tagging along Alistair and Morrigan.

At first she is very confused at Leliana, and only recruit her at the exit of Lothering because Alistair insists.

She starts falling for her when she sees that Leliana keeps on trying to see the beauty of the world even after suffering hardships herself.

It's kinda corny.

Another reason is that I can imagine both have had to deal with nobility life (albeit in different ways) and that's gives them a sort of common ground on how they shaped their values and question them.

I can see the City Elf working well for me too, but my Tabris belongs to Zevran.

Personally the City elf. The numerous mentions of how they take after her mother gives a feel that they are a bit of an adventure seeker which can play similar to Leliana especially if rogue and given bard training by her. The race relations and past is the part I love though. Leliana has her embarrassing dialogue about elves while personally I feel the City elf has their own negative formed opinions of humans that they overcome. The little over the head dialogue in LS Adaia says "I will teach my child of humans like you. You are a light in a dark place." Given that she was killed by humans, the events of the Origin story and the general Alienage life the only positive human that Tabris may have heard of is her mother’s comments about Leli. To eventually meet and fall in love whether or not they know that it was Leliana rescuing her mom forming possibly Tabris's only positive opinion about humans is remarkable.  Gotta think that Leliana's view that the Maker may have been playing matchmaker seems like it may be true.

Despite coming from entirely different walks of life, though, it didn't stop my Mahariel from going crazy about shoes with her.

...they don't have very many pairs of good shoes where she comes from...

At least DAO elves all had shoes, and Dalish probably crafted ones with fashionable Halla leather so prettier than Ferelden fur boots.

I don't imagine Dalish kill Halla for anything. Probably sacrilege to do so. They think of them as clanmates, basically...would seem a bit weird...

I usually just headcanon DA:O elves all had shoes because Ferelden is too cold that time of year or something. Though, my Lavellan and Solas were running around Haven in bare feet, so...I don't know anymore.
