I don't imagine Dalish kill Halla for anything. Probably sacrilege to do so. They think of them as clanmates, basically...would seem a bit weird...

I usually just headcanon DA:O elves all had shoes because Ferelden is too cold that time of year or something. Though, my Lavellan and Solas were running around Haven in bare feet, so...I don't know anymore.

Oops. Yeah, sacred animal my bad. Maybe it's ok if the Halla died from old age/illness.

I loved how no matter what boots I crafted for Solas, he would ALWAYS cut the tip to let his toes breath. Dude, I used dragonlings scales and you just cut it?  :P

We'll my elf killing halla at the exalted plains is awkward now

I never killed Halla on purpose. Fennec too. Ugly Wyvern are ok though.

Sometimes one of my party members would kill a Halla behind my Lavellan's back, because it accidentally ran into the crossfire and got registered as an enemy somehow.

Wanted to turn around and smack a fool.

Put me down for F!Tabris x Lels, too. Mostly because the city elf Origin is my favorite, but also because Adaia and because elf x Lels is all kinds of adorbs.

Yes. The writers opted for hippie forest-dweller street cred at the price of a hilariously unrealistic nomadic-pastoral society.

I like forest hippies though.

I preferred it when they were pretty much just a bunch of occasionally hostile forest hippies rather than BioWare's punching bag, tbh.

My favorite is rogue F!Tabris X Leliana. I like being able to call Leliana out on her opinions about Elves and how well she accepts the criticism. I also like how we can relate to Leliana as a fellow rogue and the hard times she's been through.

I like being able to call Leliana out on her opinions about Elves and how well she accepts the criticism.

That conversation is why elf Warden x Leliana in general is the best for me. Mahariel is my preference, but Mahariel, Surana and Tabris all get slightly different versions of that conversation. I just think it's so important to see that Leliana can do that, step outside herself and acknowledge ignorance on her part and actually approve of being called out for it. One of the many reasons why the people I saw calling her some kind of blind zealot in DA:O have always baffled the hell out of me and made me wonder if we encountered the same character. Hmph.

Elf conversation isn't a romance moment, but I like to think of it as one. I imagine that's about where my Warden started to allow herself to loosen up around her a bit.

Can I ask what everyone's favorite origin to romance Leli is, and why?

Surana. Can't really explain why, it's probably the most bare-bones origin in the game, it's just Amell as an elf with next to no established personal history. They let you do that yourself, what I've always liked about it.

Yup, city elf sounds better with Leli saving the mommy of the city elf in her dlc and all. Buuut my Cousland could have been the king of Ferelden. He could lie to himself and think he didn't take the throne because of loyalty to the dinasty of dragons, but he did because he wasn't going to dump Leliana for some ugly chair. And I wasn't going to change my choice for Marjolaine to get both. There are other thrones but only one Leliana.

Yes. Neither of my Dalish Elves killed Halla intentionally. Heck, neither of them attacked them.

Also, elves post-DA2 have this thing where covering your toes is a mortal insult or something.

And the third thing, how did you get Elfy armors in Haven? To my knowledge, schematics for Rogue and Mage armors drop in post-Skyhold areas, and there is no Rogue version already done, the Mage armors that are done both drop in Exalted Plains, and if you randomly lucked out for the Warrior version, that requires Silverite for other classes to use (which... well, Emprise du Lion...) - and you had a Mage, as I recall?

One Halla died in my playthroughs so far. DORIAN! IN THE THRONE ROOM!

Rogue female Tabris...? Interesting...

Rogues ftw. Rogue female elves ftw in particular.

Well, Solas was running around Haven in barefeet anyway. My Lavellan was still running around Emprise Du Lion with her feet exposed, though.

I bet running around the Western Approach felt nice...actually made my feet warm just looking at it...

Hah, yeah. Emerald Graves, Exalted Plains and The Hinterlands also look like it might be somewhat comfortable.

Hissing Wastes, I'm not sure. Apparently deserts get REAL cold at night. Emprise du Lion, I'm not sure how they manage.

In Val Royeaux, I also don't think. Remember Merrill in the Gallows? "Everything here is cold, hard stone. I wish I wore shoes with soles, now."

Still, you didn't answer how you managed to get a non-Warrior Elf to have Elfy armor in Haven :P

And lastly, anyone else think it's kinda strange for Elves who wear Dalish armors to wear boots in Skyhold, but nowhere else...?

I didn't, was just remembering snowy places. Took me way too long to discover Snowfleur skin on Rogue armours lets mages wear them.

It wasn't until I was about 30 hours in that I could balance looking elf-ey with good stats.

Spoiler

I like the scarf, though.

Yup. The scarf is awesome. Both of my Elves wear that armor.

One doesn't count, really, because she's already a Rogue.

The other, however, does, as a Mage.

Yeah, I hooked up femme Tabris with Leli. Something about pairing her with another rogue seems right. She kind of says you remind her of Marjolaine.. the fun parts. But you're a better person.

But I also like the elven mage with her too.

Change of subject: marshmallows exist in the DA unverse (Iron Bull mentions them in a banter with Varric). I can imagine Leliana and Tabris roasting some over the camp fire. :D

Plenty of other critters to kill for meat and leather, I daresay. Especially since halla are either sapient or close to it.

Also, my main Warden with Leliana was an elf mage. They have some common cultural experiences, but my mage isn't religious, really, as well as being a blood mage and being naturally inclined to do amoral things for science. Leliana is her morality chain, of a sort, and my Surana pretty much stays on the up-and-up around her.

The City Elf had the most powerful origin quest/prologue as far as I'm concerned. It's depressing how that quality of writing is practically nonexistent in more than half of Inquisition's quests.

Good prologue as well as conclusion. Not many other origins get to go back home/have family alive, AND kick ass in their presence and be the hero in front of them. :) And then save the alienage and the entire city later on to boot. It's kind of cool having that personal tie to the final questline.

Some fan art is needed here. The Warden, Leli, Alistair, Winne, Oghren, Zev, even Sten sharing the marshmallows and some laughs while dog jumps around to catch some, Shale looks confused and Morrigan shakes her head.

Shale would probably comment that they look like pigeon droppings and Morrigan would sneak off with some.

Then Zevran would probably suggest this:

(Kahlua is a coffee liqueur.) Coffee exists in DA and comes from Antiva. And cocoa is apparently from Seheron... Sten mentionned jungles and large cats in a convo with Zevran... Is Seheron South America?

Eh. Using rape as a plot device for the protagonist who is not raped is pretty skeevy, and I can't blame Dragon Age for not repeating it.

Some of Seheron brings up S. America imagery, yeah. It also has pyramids.

Doesn't the rape thing only happen if Tabris is female though?

In any case, that's not really what I meant. It's more to do with how organic the opening is and as a result how easy it becomes for you to connect with Tabris on a deeper level than usual. While most origin stories did pretty well in that department, I give bonus points to the CE version for its depiction. I think it does an especially great job setting the stage for what's to come, all the while making sure that you actually give a damn about the protagonist.

Iron Bull showed us something that can make grow chest on your chest, but I wonder which other different liqueurs exist in Thedas.

I'm sure in Antiva they will have some kind of grappa

And let's make that art a comic, Basement Cat ideas are too cool for just an image.
