I've actually considered this before; in some sense, making Leliana Divine is a surefire way of reducing any chances of her appearing in future installments. Her non-companion role in Inquisition is still relatively limited compared to others; you were just able to see her at any time because you two happened to share the same living space. With a potential Divine status, it pretty much closes the deal on whether she will ever appear in a significant role again.

That said, as someone who never wanted anyone else to replace Justinia, I'm okay with that. In the greater scheme of things, it fits with my own 'ideal' vision of a post-Justinia era. Honestly, I'm only really curious about what it all means for a Leli-romanced Warden.

Hopefully the Warden doesn't get the Nerevarine treatment and never comes back. How would you feel if the Warden was permanently lost in the unknown lands?

Gladly at least they wouldn't destroy him/her and turn into something s/he wasn't.

Meh. I'll give BioWare the benefit of the doubt for now and assume they put those Warden references in for a reason, and that they aren't going to forget about it next game, shoehorn her into a new role, and pull the separation card yet again. If they do...I'll have words...  <_<

It'd also be nice if they ever make reference to the Inquisition spymaster in the future, they'll mention it as someone else in a Leliana-romanced import.

That would also make me very, very miffed. That whole thing needs to be wrapped up. Still crossing my fingers for a DLC somewhere down the line...

No good conclusion for a alive warden is one of the biggest failures of DA IMO, and knowing we're not going to get an expansion for DA:I, I'm fearing I am going to add "No conclusion to the inquisitor" to that list.

Hawke is kind of in limbo now too, if alive. They pulled the disappearing act on him/her yet again.

I'm starting to think Dragon Age needs an Animal House-style 'Where are they now?' ending with every game, for every single character. It'd help.

Just look how much better it would have made Mass Effect!

Joke all you want, but I am still miffed that Bioware's grand ending for my Warden before we moved on to a new player character ... was her getting a book from Morrigan after listening to her advertise DA2 and then just leaving.

Gee, thanks, Bioware, what a great and awesome ending befitting of the Warden.

The more I think about it, DA has managed to disappoint me more than what happened to Reapers and Cerberus.

They create some pretty great ideas, but don't know how to deliver or bring some cathartic conclusion. Warden, Hawke, Mage/Templars.. And to some extent, the Civil War could have been better too.

Well going through the Eluvian with Morrigan could be considered a satisfying ending but if you didn't romance Morrigan, the ending is pretty meh.

I'd love a dlc with the HoF, but I'm afraid they are not bringing the Warden back.

If they make the most probable move: a cameo, or a another letter, or a codex entrance, or some mention in some conversation, I just hope they don't break my headcanon: the Warden came back, the Hero had found a cure, at least for himself/herself and s/he and Leliana rode to the sunset. The end.

Thanks for that video, it made me laugh and my day had been quite tough. The iChildren cracked me.

And don't forget the DRAMATIC BUILD UP OF SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC FOR SOME REASON AS SHE WALKS INTO THE DISTANCE WHAT DOES THIS MEAAANNNNNN

Yeah, that sendoff really blew for anyone who didn't romance Morrigan. The only reason I even bother to do that DLC in my playthroughs anymore is for the extra Dalish origin content.

Did we even find out what the heck that book was? I still have no idea. Maybe Morrigan found something that set the Warden off looking for the Calling cure?

Well, if I'm being perfectly honest with myself, it's not something I haven't considered. In fact, part of me expects just that. But it's one of the more pessimistic parts...

Hopefully they're smarter than that. Nothing worse than throwing your previous story out the window in the name of a 'new role' or a 'new entry'.

Nothing DA has done is worse than what happened to the ME franchise. Cerberus became a giant tumor on the franchise, sucking out quality the more they appeared, be it the games or EU. And don't get me started on that joke that was the catalyst.

Mass Effect 2 and 3 crashed and burned the franchise.

Maybe the disappointment feels greater because I probably like DA more.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd be happy even if the Warden didn't show up in person but a reunion with Leliana was implied. I think I said a few times I'd like to see her show up all disheveled and obviously 'content'. That would be plenty for me. Or *ahem* overhearing the reunion. Know what I mean? Wink wink, nudge nudge.

This would be fine as well, kind of. I'd definitely prefer a more satisfying conclusion (though I'm sure that conclusion you speak of would be satisfying for Leliana, hueh hueh hueh...) with the Warden perhaps playable for a bit, but...I just want to know the Warden succeeded, got back, whether they cured the Calling or not, reunited with Leliana, etc. If they can't physically bring them back, I hope they at least leave me content with where they left them. As of now...I'm really, really not.

A reunion between the Warden and Leli could be done without a VA for the Warden. There would be no words, just a long kiss. Replace Leli with Morrigan, Alistair or Zev for other romance options, or just make a scene with old comrades laughing in the tavern for people who left the Warden unromanced. Add Inon Zur music and it's done.

Part of the problem may be simply having too many things going on at once. Consider that DA:I basically has three wars going on simultaneously, all of which the Inquisitor gets dragged into: The Mage-Templar War, an Orlesian Civil War, and the fight against Corypheus and the Venatori. Each one of those events could be the main focus of a single game. By rolling them all into one game perhaps it guarantees that some of them are going to be largely off screen and resolved with a single quest.

Makes me wish the DA2 expansion didn't get cancelled and had the Mage-Templar end there

Corypheus was a mistake to begin with.

I mean, if push comes to shove, they should go with these other storylines. Not throw out some great stuff that fueled these boards, and turn DAI into a boss fight with one of Hawke's DLC villains.

F*cking stupid!!!! Not sure how else to put it.

edit: Wait, I'll add that Cory could have served a good purpose on the themes of faith and such in this game. But they didn't really deliver there either.

I recall reading somewhere that Cerberus was never meant to go all out the way they did in ME2, which is apparent in their hush-hush portrayal in ME1.

Would've worked better if they explored the topic of Faith more. And worked even better if the Inquisitor was originally Hawke.

In any case, lets have a slapfight then. ;) I say "No", you say "Yes". You get to remain Bioware fan. I finally fall out of the fold.

Yeah in ME they were just a small group, then Drew wanted to do something new with them for ME2, then Mac Walters happened and turned them into the Space Illuminati :P
