I'm not surprised of Cass being the default Divine. She is not as extremist in one direction or the other as Viv or Leli.
Indeed. I always figured she would be the default choice.

I utterly despised Gregoir...I like the idea
But I thought Samson was ok, he shows how far the templars had fallen and the conversations with Cullen were well done (imo)...but from what I've seen on youtube Calpurnia is indeed a bit more compelling/interesting as a character.
I also can't really select many things in the keep...seems a little buggy to me. For example, I'm pretty sure I befriended most companions...but I only get hidden tiles
Divine Cassandra makes absolutely no sense in the default world state. Because: The Inquisitor recruited the mages as allies and recruited the grey wardens. That alone puts Leliana 25 points ahead of Cassandra in the election for Divine.

Good point.

Well, I doubt the in-game points were meant to influence the default selection anyway. Only thing that makes Cassandra a good default choice is the fact that she's an 'inbetween' Divine, which is probably why she was chosen.

Default Divine is Cass? Hmnn that was my second guess, because she is in the middle of the road in terms of reform.
Leliana is not extremist.
And I admit that I wish I could fight Calpernia, but that would require sullying my save file and Bioware's telemetry with a templar playthrough, and that's something I'll never do.
That reminds me: what's the default on Hawke in Inquisition? Is he/she the one who stays in the Fade? That would continue the trend of 'the PC does a heroic sacrifice'.
If that's the default, it doesn't bode well for the Inquisitor.
Don't know, that choice is hidden from me for some reason. Think I'll have to try to replay the game first.
How is getting stuck in the fade for the millionth time better then time travel? I never understood what's so great about the templar questline. Not to mention that the mage questline feels a little better for the general pacing of the story. The Cole scene at Skyhold makes no sense if you sided with the templars, the red templars make an more interesting faction then just the mages being used as canon fodder for the venatori, Samson is actually an known character by the fandom and the fact he becomes an nemesis of sorts for Cullen helps to spice things up a little.
Without trying to derail too much...
Here's a link to some of the arguements I used before. However to some of the new ones you raise.
I fail to see how the mage quest is better for the pacing of the overall story, worse? No. But better, I disagree.
I also disagree that the Cole cutscene at Skyhold not making sense if you recruited the templars. I always saw "In Your Heart Shall Burn" happening almost straight after the recruitment mission. So the inquisition's companions never had time to truly talk about who or what Cole is and what to do with him before going off to seal the breach and having Cory knocking on their door.
I find the red templars better on the templar path because there are still red templars even if you succesfully saved the majority of them. The mission helps you get emotionally involved by seeing their corruption first hand and wanting to help root out the rest of the corruption. It shows that even if you were mostly succesful, it was still not a flawless victory. A good thing considering how much of a "boring invincible hero" the inquisitor feels most of the time.
And Wulfram already covered Samson.

Calpurnia is hot and unique looking.
Samson is only one of those.
You can still select stuff in the hidden tiles. It only shows decisions you made so far.
Hm, I suppose the keep didn't register all of my choices. I know I sacrificed Stroud on my first playthrough, but I can only select Alistair etc.

I have the same issue and I've been saying this since yesterday. However, it seems like the other way around for me; I only get choices made on my first playthrough. Just about everything I did on my second isn't reflected.
Leliana is not extremist.
Yeah, she is. It's a good thing - the Chantry needs an extremist right now.

I think playthroughs that uploaded a while ago don't work properly. Loading them up in game so that they re-uploaded seemed to fix most of my issues.

Funny thing because i did exactly the same and cassandra was divine in my pt.

If you did her War Table mission, it might have tipped things in her favor.

That would make sense.

Calpurnia is oomph..
Where is Cass the default, I have Leliana as default in my keep

I allied with the mages my first run, and managed to elect Cassandra. It makes sense.
Also woot Divine Cassandra master race... :3
but when you tally all of these up, it's a bit weird. Celene (solo), Wardens, mages..

Master of nothing.
Now that I think about it, I imagine that my inquisitor is the one that strays futhers from the default path. All major choices aside from Divine Cass are different.

This woman punches bears in the face in the name of Andraste. Show some damned respect.
I'll show respect when she finds a name worth punching for. Or possibly when she stops being so conservative. Until then, I appreciate her partywide damage boost vs. demons, but prefer Blackwall as my tank otherwise.

Except that's literally exactly my first playthrough. It can happen.

Fair enough. It just seems odd and rare for a default.
