Leliana, well... it depends if she is in a romance or not. If she is, screw being the Divine!

That's the big thing here. :S

And she's romanced in everything I ever import, so to hell with ever making her Divine honestly. Ain't nobody got time fo dat.

Well, then you must be an miracle maker, I checked the point system in the Dragon age wiki, and after recruiting the mages as allies and recruiting the wardens, even if you fully support Cassandra and do the support war table mission, she stays 3 or 2 points behind Leliana. You can check it out:

http://dragonage.wik...Divine_election

I know how the points system works. I've checked my save game with the plot flag tool, Cassandra can always be put above the others through dialogue alone.

I don't see how she could win if you added Briala/Gaspard into the mix with the Mages and the Wardens

I had Celene alone in my first run, which doesn't give Leliana any points.

My second run was Templar allies/Celene+Briala, which was a bit easier to get Cassandra in. She had a pretty whopping lead in points, actually. Briala doesn't give Leliana as much as you'd think unless she had Gaspard around her little finger.

I still think Leliana has a good skill set for the Divine position.

1) She was the Divine's Left Hand for years. Unlike Cassandra, she was personally close to Justinia. I would imagine Justinia often confided in Leliana about issues arising in her Divine position. I think of it as Leliana is almost the Divine's apprentice during those years (IIRC she didn't leave Justinia's side much).

2). Leliana was a bard and has experience with The Game and charming people. Seems like this would help a Divine out. In addition, she'll have a better insight into politics than most because of the bardic past.

3). Leadership skills? She ran the Divine's spy network and now the Inquisition's so....I'd say she has some.

4). While not a skill, Leliana does have awesome connections. HoF, Inquisitor, possibly the Ferelden king. Heck, she knows the current Arishok (might be helpful if the qunari invade...idk).

She does have quite a resume. But I think Vivienne edges out when it comes to overall leadership and political experience, given her past positions and relationship with the Orlesian Court and Celene.

Additionally, Vivienne is generally more 'independent' than Leli, in the sense that she isn't overly worried what others think of her and her policies, which seems to be reflected in her ability to make decisions and be fully confident about it. I honestly don't see that in Leliana, as much as I prefer her.

I don't think I could ever care less about the Divine choice. Mages and Templars can all go plough themselves for what I care about them

But Leliana is romanced by my Warden and Vivienne hates my guts, so Cassandra wins out.

I still think Mother Giselle would've been better off...

As far as the points system, it is possible to get Cassandra from dialogue alone, as Snook said. My first playthrough was Mage allies, Celene/Briala, Wardens recruited, both (inspired) Leliana and Cassandra supported when talking to them but no War Table missions done. Cassandra ended up Divine.

It really is weird that she isn't an option. Can you even ask her why not in-game? I do not recall.

The lack of that option still baffles me. I swore they were building up to it throughout the game. I thought that was why her character existed, in fact.

Giselle just doesn't have the charisma or stature for the job. I don't even think she'd want it.

Well I always romance Cass considering Josephine really doesn't interest me and I'd rather put the Archdemon than Vivienne on the throne so Leliana is really the only choice for me. The fact that she doesn't break up with the Warden is a plus, and she frees the mages and disbands the templars, something I was hoping to always do. Thus, no matter what you people think, I got the ending I wanted and nothing is going to convince me otherwise.

Wonder what would happen if the Warden did appear again and they were a large Warden supporter who supported Leliana as Divine.

Oh, my Warden will support Leliana...with her free hand as she props her up on the nice, sturdy table in their home somewhere in Antiva and uses the other to-

...what?

Warmth.

Maybe Rivain as well. I'm undecided.

Ahh. I'm fine with staying in Ferelden's chill, to be honest.

Bah, my Warden's been in that her whole life. And she's Dalish, she was outdoors for the winters.

Relocating to the sunnier north with Leliana would be mighty appealing, I reckon.

Assuming the Warden doesn't get kidnapped or killed by nameless creatures from the unknown lands. What foul monstrosities live there? Beastmen?

Who the deuce is going to kill the guddamn Hero of Ferelden tho? An Archdemon couldn't do it.

I don't think we have much to worry about.

Also, regarding Keep default choices, just remember,

Default =/= Canon

Especially after Gaider's lengthy post regarding that statement, I'm still surprised people are having this debate.

I doubt the devs actually had a part in choosing the default world states for the Keep. Not to mention all the default world states for all three games seem rather bland, and the fact there's no proof that the writers even use those choices in novels/comics/ other DA media shows how much its not worth it to be taken seriously...

Hell, even the devs own playthroughs of Dragon Age vary from the choices in the Keep.

There's also the possibility that whatever next installment we get doesn't necessarily follow the Keep in terms of the default path. They can just code in a default world state entirely independent of that of the Keep.

At a glance, my canon has always weirdly matched up with BioWare's default. In terms of the characters, anyway. Default Warden is a female Dalish who did the ultimate sacrifice, mine is a female Dalish...who didn't do the ultimate sacrifice, though. BioWare default is a male mage Hawke, my canon is a male mage Hawke. BioWare's got good taste tbh.

If the default Inquisitor was a Dalish mage, it would have been three times in a row I've more or less been close to the default. :S

Just look at Hawke. Plot armor stops working when you aren't the protagonist anymore. Hope the Warden doesn't get Nerevarined.
