Unhardened Leliana doesn't give a foursome so Leliana gets hardened in DAO. Foursomes FTW!!
That's more reason for me not to harden her, myself. >.>

Not killing Natalie actually ends up being the right choice, though. She throws her lot in with the Inquisition if she's spared and gets more Chantry support.
Heh! Who needs support when you have can have FEAR instead?

I got the impression she was still not pleased, but her bard reasoning took over.Unhardened Leliana doesn't give a foursome so Leliana gets hardened in DAO. Foursomes FTW!!

Well, well, look what else Weekes says about Divine Leliana:

Marriage confirmed for romanced Divine Leliana.
if Leliana romanced hero of Ferelden, I could see her changing the rules to say the Divine can be married

I thought he said that once (with Sheryl) in a tweet too.
Seems consistent with her though. I never even viewed her as a Chantry type in DAO either. Her beliefs have always been a bit different.

SOMEONE ASKS IF WE'LL BE ABLE TO PLAY THE GREY WARDEN FROM DAO AGAIN: "The honest answer is, I wouldn’t want to go back to the Hero of Ferelden. I think the hero had a freaking awesome story — you had chance to die heroically, or you had chance to survive and ride off into the sunset with their lover.
That right there is lies. Said lover came back in a big role while the Warden went away on some quest in the middle of nowhere with an uncertain fate ahead of them, indefinitely separated.
Which seems to me like it's never going to get a decent conclusion. Bleh.

And consider what can potentially happen to Warden Alistair...

I'm happier headcanoning a good Warden/Leli story.
Less happy about any jerk Wardens. They need their asses kicked. Kind of wish they came to blows with either Inquisitor or Hawke.

Looks like it will be left to headcanon.
So...Warden finds cure, moves to Val Royeaux to be near her Divine gf is my headcanon.
Not very exciting when condensed to a line of text. ![]()
I still think curing the damned Calling is a ridiculous thing to leave to our imaginations. I also think it's pretty ridiculous to bring up this big plot point here, and then not do anything with it. Making the Warden's last hurrah...a few lines of text.
If BioWare is so content to leave the Warden's fate entirely to headcanon, they better not keep bringing back characters that are important to many people's Wardens for cameos while leaving the Warden themself in the dust until the end of time. So this "awesome story, rode off into the sunset" thing can actually be true. And so Leliana's romanced dialogue in DA:I won't be completely forgotten.
For now, I'll give Weekes the benefit of the doubt and assume he's not going to do that, and continue believing my Warden will return to Thedas, she'll leave the Wardens for good, Leliana will quit the Inquisition for good, and the two of them will run off adventuring until the end of their days. Somewhere sunny, usually. Build a cottage for the occasional much-needed downtime. Yeah.
I'm trusting you to not **** it up, BioWare.

Yeah, using the companions but not the hero does muddy things up for this kind of fan interpretation.
It also just ends up making the companions actually more important to the world in the long run. Which is just... kind of odd. Narratively speaking. Leliana is a far more interesting character than the Warden ever was. More storyarcs and development at least.
It's like turning Xander or Faith into more important characters than Buffy.
Hopefully going north means the Warden and everyone close to them can be kept off-screen.
Insisting we leave the Warden to headcanon is completely worthless otherwise.

That works, I guess.
I think my main underlying issue is that Bioware writes worse protagonists than they do companions. This is unlike any other medium.. or other (non choice based) games. There isn't a lot to work with.
With the exception of Hawke, maybe.. but even then, they trashed that idea too.

Well, this is an RPG, that's pretty much always going to be the case. BioWare's still better at it than most RPG devs, IMO; in most other games, I found the protagonist felt like nothing more than a tool for interacting with these other characters or the world, no character of their own whatsoever. Look at the Dragonborn, basically the only characterization you could ever give them was in a DLC. At least BW gives a little bit more to them than that.
Doesn't bother me though, my Warden is still among my favourite characters in the series, even if she doesn't really count because the Warden is so very player-defined...

Yeah, I understand. I might fundamentally just dislike RPGs when it comes down to it.
I've been playing them all my life.. don't get me wrong. There's all kinds of fun things about it. And I love the lore and characters. But in the end, it still isn't better than what I get out of other stories. Still a bigger novel and film fan at the end of the day. It kind of makes me chuckle.. all of this technology and production value, and I still just prefer words on paper.
My Warden romanced both Morrigan and Leliana and eventually choose the former with great reluctance (poor Leli) but I still adored Leli and find myself more interested in her character, journey and future than Morrigan now after 3 games.
part of me hopes for the next game that they just go off to Tevinter for the next game and start afresh. Maybe a cameo from Dorian and Varric and whomever your Divine is. And Solas to pop up twirling his moustache and cackling.
I can't be doing with all this uncertainty over the Warden and loved ones/friends being prolonged/uncertain. Best for me to just let it go

There's a lot of things that don't sit well.
For example, my main Inquisitor let a romanced Morrigan drink from the well... and we don't know what happens from that. What if it has dire consequences? Wouldn't the Warden be angry?
A dark part of me hopes that it fails..Sigh, this makes it sound like curing the calling was just an excuse to keep the Warden away from the DAI plot. Hopefully it won't get shrugged off as a failure.
Yeah, that was a bit iffy, but it still better than: the weak friendship reference u get for a female warden. There's a lot of things that don't sit well.

It'd be funny if it was based on previous choices. I had this idea built up that you had to have both the Architect alive.. and let Avernus commit his freakish experiments.. and then you could cure the Calling by adding their research with whatever the Warden is doing.
But then, just for doing that, you'd have terrible consequences too.
Eh.. oh well.
A dark part of me hopes that it fails.
Seeing how they've apparently decided this whole plotline isn't worth actually doing anything with for whatever reason, making it fail at this point would really feel like nothing more than a pointless "**** you" to people who are attached to their Wardens. They'd dangle that little bit of hope in front of us in an underwhelming off-screen fashion, and then take it away in an underwhelming off-screen fashion.
Yeah, no.
