Except there is no 'correct way' to do an off-screen death of a protagonist that plenty of people still love.

It'd be **** by default. The idea is horrible.

I don't see them solving it any other way..too manny variables.

They're apparently content to leave them off screen anyway. Why the heck do these variables matter? Why would they kill them? What would the point be other than a massive slap to the face? They weren't going to show up at any point anyway. They wouldn't 'solve' anything.

I suspect most of the people who hope for these things do so just to spite the people who are still attached. Just a suspicion from all the other threads I've seen this sentiment in.

Well they had a pretty correct way of doing a off-screen death of the warden via the calling.

Bringing in the notion of a cure, though means now doing so would seem akin to trolling.

That's why it feels like shooting themselves in the foot. They hinted on a cure and the possibility of the Warden returning, yet now they're saying it probably won't happen.

I'm somehow reminded of their treatment of Thane -_-

Choking to death at age 181, trying to remove a bra with their teeth?

 Ahh yes, I remember that....

But thane was a companion character, and not a protagonist, so...

There's that.. and that you can open more plot just by killing a romanced Alistair. Or having Morri drink from the Well. This just raises more questions on how the Warden would respond.. rather than closing their story. They shouldn't do this if they want to move away.

Yup, and Warden Alistair alive and quicking is just on a pleasure trip to Weisshaupt where everything is all right and it doesn't happen nothing at all that could be of interest for the HoF. And a romanced Divine Leliana will never have any intrigue plot against her...

I already said it in another thread, but I can understand there are very valid reasons for Bioware to never ever bring back the HoF, but saying all possible stories for any HoF out there are tied up and done is something I just don't buy. Do they want to leave the Warden alone? Then leave alone Alistair, Leliana and Morrigan. Even taking DA to the North of Thedas and forgetting about the events in the South, Morrigan's ties to elven gods seem a thing so big that it seems strange the idea to leave her out of any future game.

Same happens with Hawke after Adamant. They go to the Anderfels to report to wardens and then aparently goes missing again, and out of Varric's reach this time around. I honestly believe the only way to tie loose ends for good, is if the final game of the series (or at least the final game set in this particular generation) have both Hawke and the Warden coming back to help the protagonist one last time, and after that we get an epilogue telling their ultimate fate.

Just simply entertaining that idea or any idea, for that matter.. is better than cutting off any chances forever. No reason to slam the door shut yet.

SOMEONE ASKS IF WE'LL BE ABLE TO PLAY THE GREY WARDEN FROM DAO AGAIN: "The honest answer is, I wouldn’t want to go back to the Hero of Ferelden. I think the hero had a freaking awesome story — you had chance to die heroically, or you had chance to survive and ride off into the sunset with their lover.

But remember when you all asked for Hawke to come back, how are you people feeling about that now? So i’d say be careful what you wish for. If we brought the hero back, I'm not sure it would be a happy story.

This, from Reddit... No matter how much we wanted to see or hear from our Warden again, the devs just seem more and more reluctant to bring the Warden back after the Hawke incident in DAI. It felt like the devs bringing Hawke back was to test the water, checking out the fans' reaction about the returning character. Seems like they have their answer in the end. The Warden is a no-go. Happy story or not, a final glance at our favourite hero would suffice. The series is coming to an end anyway. Worrying about wringing fan tears out of us about killing off the Warden at a time like this seems like a moot point.

Who reacted badly to Hawke anyways? This is news to me. It was a nice touch. If anything, I wanted more of Hawke.

And why do they need to take....polls.. or something. Just do whatever is good for a story.

Pleny considering they have turned hawke into blood mage hater despite possibility playing or supporting one.

Also showing by that they can't turn previous pc into npc without turning him/her into something she/he wasn't for great deal of players by not doing that correctly even with far much defined protagonist than the warden.

It's all over Tumblr. I seem to recall seeing some hate about DAI Hawke here and in Reddit too.  :(

According to BW, it looks like it is the fans that decide what's "good" for a story these days. "Good" is simply too subjective for any one person to decide. The fandom is one hard bunch to please it seems.

Maybe Blood Mage Hawke was lying.

It could've been done better though, I'll agree.

I don't see why this is a good reason to cut off other plotlines though. It's always good to keep your options open, at the very least.

Doubtful considering s/he was raging against it.

Simple bioware can't tell who the warden is because bioware have no idea what player have created and it would end on generic grey warden like was with hawke only to much greater degree.

Bioware can tell enough about the Warden just from the Keep.

Who gives a **** about staying true to everyone's random fan fiction. If they keep it to broad strokes, it can still work.. and then the story can be closed properly. This is better than doing nothing at all.

Ok then tell me why my warden killed mages in broken circle quest. ;)

I don't think you know what fan fiction means...

I'm fine talking about the general idea of the Warden here, but I'm not going to play some guessing game about your character's secret motivations.

See you can't tell niether bioware can add that to many choices outside that and then we go into that it leaves them with colossal number of variates for the warden.

No, it's just that your one of the more peculiar posters. I never know where you really stand.. especially on this mage/templar thing. :D

But not everyone is like you. Broad strokes can keep enough people happy.

It doesn't rly matter what i think about mage/templar thing because my personal feeling don't necessarily have to influence way i play certain character i have played dao many times and created many different characters.

Well that is another people call but apparently bioware share my opinion on that matter as they saw how it went with hawke what i have predicted in first place.

I hope to the Maker that Bioware isn't doing it for your sake.

Nope i would say they do that for sake not wasting resources into something that many if not most people would react negatively and they know they can't handle anyway.

I agree. Are they really going to discard the Warden just because some fans (possibly just the most vocal ones) said they didn't like Hawke's return in DAI? This doesn't make much sense to me. I had no problems with DAI!Hawke, and in my first playthrough she was alive and well after Here Lies The Abyss. The only thing I didn't like was finding out that by the end of the game she had disappeared again instead of, you know, riding off into the sunset with her lover-_-
