Oh, I thought you meant Loghain.

How do you think Leliana would have got along with the DA2 cast, had she been one of Hawke's companions? Isabela (lol) and Varric I guess we know already, but what about the others?
Well, she has no past dealings with Isabela in my canon run, but I imagine they'd get along okay regardless. We know Aveline thought she was a trickster that made her uneasy when she met her in Lothering from her dialogue, so they might give each other space.
In my case, I think Merrill is the one that would make things awkward here. It's implied she was a bit sweet on my Warden while she was growing up with her, to the point where she's still broken up about her being forced to leave for the Wardens seven years after it happens...and now here's her 'one that got away's girlfriend. Awkwardness could arise.
What's your favorite Leliana moment in DA:I?
I personally love how badass she looks during the cutscene in What Pride Had Wrought.
- The "Niceness before knives" line and all her little interactions with Josie, including those at the War Table (did any of you get this one?
)
- That moment during Wicked Eyes And Wicked Hearts when we try to talk with her about the mission but all she can think about are some Lady's shoes; and when you call her out on it she says something like "But it's important! You can gather so much information from shoes!!1! Here, let me give you an example" and goes on another rant ![]()
- Her final cutscene in In Hushed Whispers and the way she shrugs it off when we return to Haven
- The conversation with her about Justinia, right after Here Lies The Abyss. No Leli, you didn't fail anyone ![]()
Thats a hard one, but if I had to choose..its when she speaks about a dead romanced warden. The writers were evil with that line..What's your favorite Leliana moment in DA:I?

this too ^When she sliced Natalie's throat.
I have to say, we don't get to see much of Leliana's violent-physical side of her, other than the generic "notch an arrow then fire" move during gameplay. It is cool to see her kill somebody instead of just hearing about it.
Or rather she lets dudes dabble in her. *runs away*
Never again.
Man, Leliana's butt when wearing the formal wear at the winter palace is fantastic. The Warden must be very happy ![]()

It is fantastic but could use a few flaws. I always find models guy or girl that are perfect a bit boring tbh. I like physical flaws, in characters tbh. It make me feel less like I'm playing with a 90's barbie doll, and I'm way past the age of playing with dolls.

Never heard the dead Warden's line. Not sure I want to.
A perfect story for Divine Leliana though.. if I ever go that route. That seems like the only thing to help a broken heart.

Gonna break your heart here, but the line about the dead warden is: 'I was with the Hero of Feralden when she/he defeated the archdemon. The maker brought us together...and then I watched her/him die.In that instance I felt the makers presence go cold. One moment a cherished child- the next abandoned.'

Maybe not so good as Divine after all. Not sure. After Justinia, it sounds like too much.

Honestly, it fits a hardened Leliana well. It was my first blind play through, though, so I'm a bit biased.

I can see that.
Couldn't do it myself though. Hardened Leliana makes me feel like I was punched in the chest.

That's probably the only playthrough I'd ever consider making Leliana Divine in; if my Warden was dead. Would be kinda bittersweet, I guess. Otherwise, naaah. Don't like killing my Warden off either, so that's gonna be a long ways off. If ever.
Have to say, in the long run, that scenario would kind of make me feel like the main purpose of my Warden narratively, was for her to be part of Sister Nightingale's tragic origin story. Like, she's the Bruce Wayne's parents of Leliana's story, that pushed her to become the Left Hand of the Divine when she died. From what I've seen, that's kind of how it's presented. Fits, I suppose. :S

I don't mind the Warden dying, but the one I have didn't romance anyone. Leliana just says life feels a bit empty and she misses them.
I can see that.

Me too. I started a second playthrough because I hardened her, before finishing the first one. This will be the first time in a Bioware game where my first playthrough is not my canon one.
I don't like the way they implemented the hardening choice, I think it would have been much better a more complex system. Anyway steeled or enlightened, I think Leliana has a very interesting story. It's just steeled Leliana in DA:I is not for me.
I could probably kill the Warden if I just whipped up some irrelevant nobody I don't care about in the Keep and called it a day. Can't kill my Warden, though, and she's the only one I've imported. *shrugs*

I kinda wish the Warden's romanced letter counted as a point against hardening. They expressed their concern about her in their letter to the Inquisitor, I imagine there was something much more heartfelt in their letter to Leliana herself.
I guess some people would stamp and scream "OOC!!!!!" though, so meh.
I guess I'm just having traumatic flashbacks of my first playthrough, where I got that letter, had feels, and then she went hardened Leliana mode anyway because I went in blind and didn't know that thing I did 2 hours in would bite me in the arse. That sucked.
I can see that.

I believe, that regardless of whether she is hardened, or softened, that she remains the same. Because both sides are one in the same, they both form Leliana.

Yup, I think the opinion of a romanced Warden should have mattered in this choice, because Leliana seems deeply touched by a love relationship with a Warden. I already said it in other threads about the matter, but a more complex system, such as having a hidden score it would have been much better for me than just three dialogues. A romanced Warden's opinion could have been part of that score.
Some possible circunstances and interactions with Leliana just don't have sense for me with the hardening system they used. I mean, you could have a romanced Warden who wanted her to accept her bard side, have pick up all possible violent Leli options in the wartable, have told her to spare the traitor because you cannot torture a dead one, have told her she was right retiring the explorers because you appreciate your people, and then tell her not to kill the sister because you think she will be of more use as a messenger and voilà soft Leli. On the other hand your Warden could have asked your Inquisitor to guide her to the light side, you could always look for the most peaceful solutions in the war table, but pick a different choice in those three dialogues and you get steeled Leliana.

I have to disagree.
I mean, I was just thinking how radically different she can be across playthroughs. She can veer from giving me the warm fuzzies to caving in my chest and breaking my heart. lol. Emotionally, at least, they feel different.
I was worried how they'd handle Cass eventually. I feel kind of protective of both of them.. I like them the way I met them. Bioware loves to break characters, but I'll scramble to keep them in shape.

In my book this is a very valid way of interpret her story. A woman with ideals and morality but able to do nasty things to fight for her cause. But, for me, her story feels better as a woman who has a dark side and nevertheless is able to overcome it. It's the mechanics they used this time I don't agree, not the stories.
Guest_StreetMagic_*
Yeah, i agree they're both valid.. it's just that the difference is enough that I clearly have preferences. I don't see them as the same Leliana.

I read again your post and had a comic book scene in my mind with a hooded Leliana in a dark Frank Miller comic book. Now Thedas will have the protector it deserves: the Nightingale!

She's more like the Huntress that way.
Batman was always trying to keep her from going too far and killing.
But that's just a nitpick. ![]()

Don't like the prejudicial 'guide her back to the light' line of the letter as it is but it would have annoyed me immensely if it was a forced softening device. Hardened Leliana is the person my Warden is in love with.
