The one on the left looks a wee bit like Korra, without the face paint.

Alright... Sugar overdose moments aside, there's this thing that's been bugging my mind now.

If Leliana was Justinia's most trusted advisor up until the events in DAI, why isn't she present at the Conclave? Same goes for Cass too. I don't buy that "She's not important enough" theory since both of them have the authority to carry out the Divine's will. Looks kind of reckless of the Divine not bringing anybody to safeguard her.

Then again, there'll be no Inquisition without the Left and Right Hands of the Divine...  :?

I suspect that for the Conclave to work, there had to be some agreement of non-aggression between the mages and templars in attendance. Thus, security would have been fairly light, aside from a few neutral mercenaries. Leliana and Cassandra were likely waiting nearby with the forces of the proto-Inquisition, ready to rush in if there was a problem.

Given that Fiona and Lord Seeker Lucius were also no-shows, it appears the only person of authority actually at the Conclave was the Divine. It doesn't speak well for its potential success. Ironically, by blowing up the Conclave, Corypheus probably did more to end the conflict than the actual peace talks.

I'm betting just plot holes on Bioware's part. Wouldn't be the first time.

Leliana being kept a distance away as part of the agreement for the conclave makes some sense to me. The reputation of what the left hand represents probably would be disadvantageous to negotiations. Cassandra's absence I find stranger. I guess Justinian may have ordered her away to dust off inquisition plans.

Cassandra's presence is even more of a shocker. She's the military might of the Divine. Kinda threatens the success of the peace talk.

I don't see that as a bad thing really. I like how Leliana, Morrigan, Alistair have their own storyline post-Origins, fully independent from the Warden's. The devs wanted them to contribute more to the DA world instead of just being the Warden's best friend/lover and staying like that. *coughGarruscough* *nohateintended*

I feel like I'm the only one who didn't mind the Warden/Leliana's separation after Origins, despite the Warden's story was over. It was obvious Leliana's story wasn't done, and I think Inquisition made her character even better and much, much more interesting and believable (not that she wasn't in Origins).   :)

Ok, I understand that point of view, but mine is very different. I did miss some of the companions from Origins in DAA, and Leliana was my main grief here. Yeah, now we know that she was being called by Divine Justinia because she needed someone to help her in the kind of matters Leli is well trained, but I remember wondering all the time if she was going to make a cameo. In DA2 I had mixed feelings. I haven't got Sebastian DLC, so I didn't see her till the very end. On one hand it was nice to see her again and she seemed a woman with interesting responsibilities, on the other hand it was somehow bitter to hear Leliana talking about the Warden's vanishing. I wanted to know where my Warden was and if those two were going to be together.

Yeah, it's very interesting having Leliana, Morrigan and Alistair back in DAI. It's nice to see old friends back here and know more about their lives. I loved Morrigan and Leliana's development in DAI. It was awesome for both of them. But if your lover is doing very dangerous and important things, like saving the world, why are you not there? Ok, the Warden wants to have a live to share with his/her loved one and therefore is trying to cure the Calling. Ok, Bioware, I'll take that. But that one cannot be the excuse forever.

I have said it before and I will repeat it now, if Warden Alistair is in a dangerous position in future games (lost in the fade or involved in a possible civil war for the Wardens in Weisshaupt or something like that), if Morrigan becomes involved with elven gods, if Divine Leliana needs help because her revolution finds dangerous opponents, then there are Warden's out there whose story is far from over. I'm not asking for Leli, Morri and Alistair to become a Garrus like figure, but maybe, just maybe, it's time for the Warden to become part of someone else's story, be the Garrus and not the Shepard.

Yeah, there are other very nasty possibilities. The Warden and his/her lover could break up or the Warden could die. I wouldn't like it at all, but I'm not honestly sure if it would make more sense instead to keep the Warden out there in mysterious whereabouts forever while some of his/her potential significant others are being very important for Thedas. I think they could leave Leliana or Alistair alone or limit their spotlight to a very small cameo or code reference, even Divine Leli, and let us think the Warden and Alistair or Leli are together. But Morrigan? She seems more important than ever.

Maybe I'm wrong and I just headcanoned it, but I think Cass mentioned they were going to the Conclave from Kirkwall after their missions in DA2, but they were delayed and arrived too late. Divine Justinia couldn't ask for the mages and the templars to wait for the Right and the Left hand.

Possibly. Did a little research and found out that Cass interrogated Varric in 9:40. The explosion at the Conclave occurred in 9:41. A one-year delay? Phew...

Still, with the meeting at the Conclave approaching soon, sending your all advisors off at a time like this seems most unwise.

Maybe cass had to hunt down the latest copy of swords and shields?

Before the announced Cass as straight, I imagined 'other things'. *cough*

Cass did bring Varric along remember? Probably annoying him for details of the next book all the way from Kirkwall to the Temple.

Yeah, sending off her most trusted counselor was a painful mistake, one to die for. And one year is too much time. Maybe they were delayed because of something cool, like a high dragon terrifying some poor people, a templar rogue army, a band of dangerous blood mages, or a meeting with the Warden, and that would justify why it seems Leliana could know the Warden's whereabouts and Cass wasn't angry with her as she was with Varric... The Adventures of the Right and the Left Hand of the Divine guest starring Varric Tethras and the Hero of Ferelden.

Or maybe something less thrilling:

Maybe cass had to hunt down the latest copy of swords and shields?

Before the announced Cass as straight, I imagined 'other things'. *cough*

-Why were you searching through my books in that book shop, Seeker? Do you want to replace the book you stabbed?

-Just shut up, dwarf!

Meanwhile the Left Hand had some tough choices. She wanted a new look and she wasn't sure if the new hood would be fitting. And that shoes shop was too tempting, she wanted to buy the whole shop. Oh, the drama!

Varric, didin't know until the Inquisitor told him though :/

Yep, I used to ship those two until they confirmed cass as straight. Now I don't ship them..sort of how people were shipping IB and Sera before they found out she was gay.

This.

If they're not going to bring the Warden back, don't bring Leliana back. I really hate the idea that again and again my Warden would just happen to be busy somewhere else when Leliana needs her. I'd want her to be, as you say, that steady figure in Leliana's life, not necessarily only the other way around. (From a purely narrative perspective, I mean.) But if they keep separating them...bah. Enough of that.   <_<

Actually, it was an opinion with a lot of cultural traction for over a thousand years.

It actually didn't. The tension was already there well before even WWI. But that's another story altogether.
