NOTHING can ever top Schmooples! Oh, Schmooples. :(

Well, now she has Schmooples II and Boulette. And let's not forget one of her messenger birds: Baron Plucky. If both the Warden and her are rogue rangers they could travel the world with a whole collection of critters! I can see it: The Griffon and Nightingale Amazing Menagerie! Wondrous creatures from all over Thedas!

Of course it's a cover to smuggle refugees/apostates/goods and fight crime!

I also like the hardened convo where she tells him to drop trou and show her the merchandise.

I wonder if any elven male Wardens romancing her got offended when she brought up rumors of elven men not being very well endowed though

Easily remedied if the Warden has the speech and/or lockpick skill maxed out. A silver tongue and deft fingers serve just as well.

My Warden couldn't lockpick to save her life. Admittedly, I didn't spec into it at all just because I liked Leliana being my designated lockpicker. "Allow me. I could do that for you..."

"Just like you wanted."

Warden was good with her hands though...had a dexterity stat of like 60-something by the end I think...I'm sure she did fine in certain areas...

One thing I thought was interesting about DA:O is how each of the potential female LIs is almost the opposite of what you might expect.

Leliana is by far the more worldly and experienced of the two. She's lived an adventurous and somewhat scandalous life, hob-nobbed with the Orlesian aristocracy, has seen more of the world, and is no n00b in the romance department. She's had plenty of lovers in the past.

Meanwhile Morrigan led a relatively sheltered life in a swamp and is not that experienced in dealing with people not named Flemeth. If she found time for romance in her travels it couldn't have been often, given her relative seclusion from civilization. It's doubtful she even crossed paths with other people all that often.

Yet it's Morrigan who is the far more aggressive of the two, and the one (at least initially) who has a much more casual attitude towards sharing a bedroll with the Warden. Leliana will only get involved in the Warden if there is some emotional attachment first.

I wonder if any elven male Wardens romancing her got offended when she brought up rumors of elven men not being very well endowed though

Wait..she actually says that?

That's hilarious.

I wonder if the Zevran banter still triggers, or alters, if he gets the Pearl invite.

That's one of the reasons I've always found Leliana clumsily stumbling and struggling with her words and feelings in the romance so very endearing. For someone like her, who's been a professional silver-tongue wordsmith the majority of her life, that means she cares. For all her experience wooing targets, trying to express her feelings with someone she actually legitimately cares for is a new thing for her; I doubt she did any of the work in the initial days of her relationship with Marjolaine. That was Marjolaine doing the seducing, Leliana being the clueless receiver.

For the Warden, with her actually falling for the person and clumsily trying to let them know...it was a whole new thing for her, something she probably wasn't entirely certain how to approach at first, and someone she most definitely did not want to treat like one of her past experiences, hence why she doesn't sleep with them until she's completely in love. She sees the Warden entirely differently, not as a 'target' to be wooed into bed.

D'aww.

Spot on.

I also love that Leliana comments on it. "Maker look at me stumbling over my words like an ill educated peasant girl, some bard I am."

So much this. <3 It's why I love the romance, too. She's just adorable - and once you find out about her troubled past, it makes it so much more poignant. I hated Marjolaine almost more than Howe. >_<

Leliana was uncertain of how to approach a relationship with someone she actually loved dearly. My Warden just had no idea what she was doing with relationships in general.

What a pairing they were.

Do we have the same Warden? :D Mine reflected myself in regards sense of humour and "charm", and also being useless at relationships in general. The clip superdarkone2 shared always makes me smile, because I'm actually that clueless with girls! :D Hopefully my Leli is out there somewhere... :)

Personally I found Morrigan was so out of character when she's invited to do the deed with Isabella at the Pearl. I know she's canonically only swing one way, but considering that her banter(s) with Leliana about the importance of sex and making love and the wonders of flesh, she's surprisingly possessive.

Hardened!Lel's reaction is kinda what I expected, whereas Alistair is also tend to be out of character when hardened.

Heh. Mine was a bit of a hardass who was actually a clueless dork. Like, you crack through the stony, sometimes cynical dry-humoured exterior and get into her soft gooey center and she's all 'what are you doing in here I can't' *warden.exe has stopped working*

I'm sure there's an innuendo in 'soft goeey center' somewhere. I can hear your mind working Basement Cat. :P

She was a Mahariel and evidently had something for Tamlen before DAO started but they were both dorks, I imagine they both were clueless. :S

I know this is not a Morrigan thread but I really found her reaction there to be totally in-character. Morrigan talks one way but thinks another. There's a very emotional person behind the facade with her.

Yeah, I don't think Morrigan is the sharing sort. Leliana really isn't either, we could see how possessive she was of Marjolaine in Leliana's Song, which was during her bard days. Even with hardened Leliana, I don't think the Pearl situation is something she herself would ever suggest. She's just willing to go along with it there.

Never really hardened her or done anything at the Pearl though, so that question never even arises for me tbh.

Somewhere?

Oh, love. Such a weird yet fascinating subject. Yeah, sex is one thing, but that emotional connection is... it's the most private thing Leliana will ever have.

I agree about Leliana being late 20s in DA:O. There is also dialogue with Wynne where it is said that Leliana is older than she looks. I'd guess she is somewhere between 26 and 28 in DA:O, putting her in her late 30s in DA:I.

The Warden's age I think varies depending on origin. Cousland is in his/her early 20s I think, but the City elf might be younger.

Yeah, I'm basically writing my City Elf Warden as 19 and Leliana as 28 at the start of Origins.

Still.

Though, I'm not sure I could see Leliana spilling out her feelings for the Warden. Depends on when it would occur, of course, but to me it seems more like she'd just be there. Nothing more, nothing less. Praying.
