*snipped everything because o-o*

Look, all I'm saying is that everything can be taken the wrong way. Literally everything. But I don't think the amount of people who would take the washing of feet the wrong way would be large enough to have any financial impact on the franchise if BioWare decided to include such a scene.

Also, if you take a lot of that stuff the wrong way, life loses some of its joy. But that's just me.

Do you know how many companies have lost billions of dollars/brand credibility/franchises  by thinking ' I don't think the amount of people', so I'm going to do this anyway.

A breif general example Starbucks: 'australians are the same as americans, we  don't need to think about this or that. just set up our franchises there and they will sell' You know what happened to Starbucks in australia because they disregarded seemingly insignificant things? The company crashed and burned in the australian market to embarrassing levels...costing them billion/trillions of dollars.

Considering Bioware evoked the last supper when promoting the game

I don't see that they'd be too fussed.

Yes, but I don't think it was because they drew pictures of people washing other people's feet on the cups, now was it?

Your example is kind of useless anyway if you don't provide those "seemingly insignificant things" with it, and the fact that we're talking about a videogame here and not a coffeehouse chain.

Anyway. This is a discussion for another place and another time. It's not suited for the Leliana thread here so I'm going to stop talking about it now.

Not to mention this:

tumblr_inline_nbl5ydFndL1rowcjl.jpg

The game has a religious theme already and their made up religion borrows from a several real ones. So what? Selling coffee and selling stories doesn't work on the same level. They'd have to make a different game for every area they intend to sell it in. And if they strip it down of anything that could offend anyone anywhere there would be nothing left.

The amount of work required to make a game would not make it profitable to make such changes either. DAI was banned in India because of the homosexual content. Should they have removed that? They'd have pissed off the buyers in other countries.

Some people are really fanatic about things like symbolism

Clearly. Xena obviously did fine without you, though.

That scene is dreamy. <3 Personally I think she should narrate everything in the entire universe. Claudia Black can take over when she needs a break. :D

The voice acting in Bioware games is outstanding. I love the voices of the female cast in DA:I. I could listen Corinne Kempa, Claudia Black, Miranda Raison, Allegra Clark or Alli Hillis talking about paint getting dry. But yeah, Corinne is my favourite hands down

They've always had an eye for good acting talent, and cast their protagonists and companions very well. NPCs can sometimes be dodgy though...I think my least favourite was Marjolaine, but that could have been bias.

Claudia Black is probably the Jennifer Hale of Dragon Age for me. She has a wonderful story-telling voice. Corinne Kempa is just dreamy...

The game is called Inquisition, and you play as the alleged prophet of lady Jesus / Joan of Arc. If someone's going to get hung up on Christian symbolism, they can start with the box.

Not to mention they use white ice cream and those blank pages are likely white too. Where's race equality, huh?

You're almost certainly right that someone will always be offended, but the particular group who might be most offended to allusions to Jesus already has Andraste and the Chatry to be upset about, not to mention Homosexual content within the game. Fundamentalists in the media have already tried to chew Bioware out for those content issues as early as ME1.

To me, a little feet washing seems to pale in comparison.

Also, if they did take issue with the representation of a catholicism expy in Dragon Age, I feel like someone might be able to wave Dante's Inferno in their faces to distract them.

I do wish the Chantry was a bit less catholic, though.  Not because I'm offended, it's just a bit of a boring choice for a fantasy religion.

And it doesn't always really fit.  Like how the Divines all get stuck with Latin names for no reason.

I hereby declare it canon that, if they're both romanced by their respective protagonists, Leliana and Josephine have a 'my hero is better than your hero' flexing match.

Leliana gets kind of scary when you're romancing Josephine. "I hope you don't hurt her. For her sake. AND YOURS."

I'd sort of enjoy it if they went on a double date.
