Going to be very boring if 'respecting our choices' means 'not touching anybody related to our past characters or doing anything bad ever.'
Don't want it to happen to her, but I hope there's at least some risk factor.

Well, with big risks come big rewards...

I like the way you think.
But I agree with Snook, I do want there to be some risk in the game. But I want a death to be avoidable, to add to the tension and keep that tension in every playthrough after the first.
When we got the concept art a while ago of our inquisition pals standing around the war table I actually didn't believe the red-haired woman standing in the background was Lelianna. Simply because she had that serious somewhat grumpy expression. Now in the demo she had a good reason to be pissed, presumably having been tortured an all, but will this be her game-long state of mind. I look forward to seeing the context surrounding her aggression but I hope we see some of our old nug-loving, shoe-squeeing Orlesian minstrel now and again.

Oh I do think we'll see some old Leliana mixed in with the new her. It just makes a lot of sense, from a writer's perspective. I mean, to have character development you need to have some parts of the old Leliana in there. That's why people never thought Anders in DA2 had had some good character development when compared to Awakening, because he was so radically different. But to be fair, even he had a little of his old self in there sometimes, especially in party banter.
She sees Morrigan in that new dress of hers and immediately reverts to giggly Leliana.
Count on it.

Wonder how she'll react to Cassandra in a dress.
Leliana: "Teehee *gigglesquee*"
I'm still curious if Leliana and Cassandra even got along while they worked together. Hard to gauge from the two someodd lines they said to eachother.
I'll have a sad if they can't get along. For some reason they feel like sisters.
Sisters in spirit.
...I wonder if Cassandra had a Sister ______ codename to match.
Sister Swallow.
I had a WTF moment then realised it was the name of a bird.
Sister Swallow.
Sounds like a Blooming Rose stage name. :S
Ofcourse I meant the bird. ![]()
Good thing that she realized how dangerous and destructive mages are i hope that she will be morrigan opposite for pro-templar or anti-mages. Perhaps i will even forgive her stupidity in asunder and that she caused world war.
Well, what does that make Leliana?
I'm one of those that tend to headcanon and believe that "Old Leliana" was actually partially playing the Warden. Espionage is what she is, secrets and murder are always in her shadow. So seeing this Leliana, the more aggressive and "cold" assassinating/ruthless killing kind doesn't make me think she's changed at all, I think this is just a real part of her and always has been. In this way, I don't think Leliana's changed so much as we just are seeing the real Spymaster/"Bard" in her more natural state. But that's just me.

For me, she seems to be the natural result of being a bard, a Sister of the Chantry, and the Hand of the Divine.
Leliana was just playing my warden???
My feels; you're hurting them.
The 'new' Leliana isn't really a departure from hardened Leliana in DA:O.
Since Leliana ended up hardened in my playthrough, it works for me.
Leliana is not romanceable by the inquisitor.Good thing it's right in the OP. But who said that? I don't see any links to the original source to that. I just wanna be 100% sure on that.

Well, when hardened she does admit to you that she was forcing the whole Chantry sister thing, and found the sheltered cloister life boring. So that may be a lie - but I don't think the little facets of her personality were. She still retained those.

Yes, it's why I say partially playing the Warden. I think she showed genuine pieces of who she is to the Warden, more than perhaps any other. I do not doubt the love/romance arc, I think that is one of the genuine pieces and truths to her. I'm sure she loves nugs, and I'm sure she loves fashion, pampering and shoes. But yes, ultimately, to a fair degree, I like to think she was in the espionage game and the Warden was one thread in it that was going to help lead her to her own goals.
Hardened Leliana is still pretty keen on mercy, from what I recall. It's part of her strong belief in redemption.
