That works. Would have to adapt that AU to something else with a Dalish Warden though. Maybe a relaxing nature trip...

People always say animals don't betray you, but my fat old Leonberger Jorgo devoured an entire filet mignon steak dinner from a table behind my back once, and was half way through the potatoes without any hesitation or regret. Spent a lot of time and money on that. That bastard was plotting against me the whole time.

No. Actually, you see, this AU counts on the fact that Leliana was born in time to be anywhere between 16 and 18 (as she looks in the pictures, I think) about a year after the Fifth Blight. So, born in... 9:15-ish Dragon.
Then, she would meet the Warden at a ball when the Fifth Blight would be over.
Cue awesomeness. Also, in this way, you can still put a Dalish Warden (or a City Elf, I guess) in the story, and it fits.
Pretty much all that happens is moving Leliana's date of birth forward some ten, years.
Bam, she's safe from Marjolaine, and her true love comes before she can be FUBAR'd by that evil backstabbing ....
Anyway. Any idea of an animal Leliana would not like? Probably cows after Marjolaine...
