...

Always wondered how my Warden and Justinia meeting went. This one's probably accurate. :S
More for the road...related to what's being discussed...

Aww.
Yup, probably.
Although she was Dorothea back then. I think my Warden really liked Dorothea. Justinia was just a bit more complicated.
Yeah, I think my Warden would have grown to like Dorothea. Leliana owed her a lot, so she'd probably have nothing but respect for her by default at first.
Once the Justinia/Left Hand business started, though...I think she might have started getting concerned about her. I see a scenario arising where my Warden might have started getting worried about Leliana being dragged down this path again, but is hesitant to address it with her because it might cause friction between them due to Leliana's devotion to her old mentor, and thus Warden finds herself having no clue what to do. Drama and all.
Would still mourn her loss and what it means for Leliana, though.

Exactly. I sometimes toy with headcanoning a blazing row between the Warden and Justinia (unbeknownst to Leliana of course) just before she left on her quest. Possibly the Warden saying something heated like "you're just like Marjolaine!" or something. Given poor Justinia's end, that would be terrible... I bet Nightmare seriously tormented her.
I don't know if it ever would have escalated to any major shots fired between them for me. Probably would have just been a bit of a rift that wasn't there before between the Warden and Leliana at times when Justinia comes up, with the Warden stressing over whether or not she should express her concerns about it to Leliana and risk creating too much contention between them, or if it's possible her fears are completely unfounded and Justinia's intentions are pure and everything will be alright.
Those thoughts would probably be milled over with the assistance of alcohol here and there. Good thing Oghren is around.

I actually really like Oghren. This is rare, seemingly...?
I don't know if a lot of people just dislike Oghren or if his supposed fan favourite status has caused a vocal hatebase to rise up and drown out the people that caused that fan favourite status in the first place. It's all very confusing.
I liked him. I see him, Nathaniel and Sigrun as my Warden's steadiest circle of comrades over the years post-Awakening.
I've been distracted and have Origins on unpaused in the background. I'm at Lake Calenhad docks. Man the music, I'd forgotten how beautiful it is. Inon, come back to us!!
I love that area. Always hit me as a good place for a swim, strangely... ![]()
Josephine is the best new character for me. It took me a while to warm up to her and I'm still not thrilled by her romance, but she's interesting and smart. Her being friends with Leliana is a big plus of course.
Yeah, Josie is definitely the best of the new characters for Inquisition. Definitely better than that wretch Sera, at any rate.
(Seriously, the notion of Leliana/Sera mentioned earlier in this thread is Exterminatus-level heresy. Don't let the contagion spread!)
My Warden and her are going to adopt a griffon tho.
They're griffon people first and foremost.
Griffons would be an awesome pet, though probably a lot of work. Maybe they could get Merrill to chip in? ![]()
Nice artwork, thanks for sharing!

Sure. I've always liked to imagine how my Warden and Merrill's reunion with their awkward amounts of old, one-sided romantic tension they had back in the day would go, anyway. :S

Same here. I'm going to try and have a meeting between Merrill and my City Elf Warden in my ongoing Origins novelization at some point (but only if it makes sense. As much as I love Merrill, I definitely don't want to pigeon-hole her in either). I have a feeling that she and Leliana would get along fairly well, in most contexts. In my Ultimate Party, it would definitely be those two in filling the rogue and mage spots respectively (as much as I do love the Origins trinity).
Sigrun...I feel she was a wasted opportunity in ways. Now to be fair I recruited her last and actually had to postpone endgame for her Joining!
Sigrun was one of my favourite companions in the series. I see her and my Warden as bouncing off each other beautifully; my Warden was a bit taciturn and dry-humoured, while Sigrun had the whole endearingly quirky and sassy thing going on. The amount they weirdly compliment each other would quickly make them the best of friends.
The epilogue I got, where she always acts like she's going on her Calling but comes back every single time because of her friendship with the Warden was weirdly touching actually. :S

I reckon they would, in my case she's the Warden's life-long friend, I imagine Leliana would take to her well enough. I'm just wondering if the romantic feelings Merrill had for Mahariel that were made abundantly clear in DA2 are still there after all this time...that could cause some awkwardness... ![]()
Inon Zur music is great but I also love Trevor Morris soundtrack for DAI. I think it was not a good idea using it so sparely.I actually really like Oghren. This is rare, seemingly...? Yeah, Sigrun is the best. All of the Awakening companions were really good, actually, especially when you consider how little time we actually spent with them, all things considered. Even Velanna had her own little character arc, which is more than a lot of the Inquisition characters get.
As for awkward unresolved sexual tension between Merrill and the Warden? Well, that's when you turn your OTP into an OT3. ![]()
I loved Trevor Morris' soundtrack too.
My favourite part of it isn't even on the official soundtrack though.
And I'm pretty much 99.9% sure it's actually 'I Am the One' slowed down.
Did anyone else catch this similarity? I'm still trying to work it out and it's blowing my sleep-deprived mind. Wooooooooooaaah.
Hi, it seems I arrived too late for the 500 party.

And the bard songs are more than great. It was a very special moment for me the first one I heard. First time I was at Val Royeaux, I saw the tavern, I got close to have a look an then I heard the French version of the NIghtingale song. My French is quite rusty and is much worse than my poor English, but I understood clearly the melody and the words Gentil Russignol. I forgot what I was doing.

Wait, is that actually a thing??
Never played anything other than Cousland, see. I got reference to someone called Tamlen...? If so, poor Merrill. My FemHawke was smitten for the pirate queen. I always feel bad clicking that broken heart dialogue icon.
Yeah, it mostly shows up with a world state featuring a Dalish Warden.
(Sorry, don't know how to embed video).

Naaah I'm pretty sure I went on about my feelings regarding that kinda thing a few pages ago. :S
It was one-sided anyway. Warden saw her as a sister, while Merrill evidently had a thing for her. Both are awkward socially, so...I imagine that explains the hostility in the origin story. It was romantic tension all along. ![]()

Yeah. In the Dalish origin, Merrill and the Warden seem to have a bit of a tense relationship, but then in DA2, chatter among the clan and Merrill's dialogue indicates Merrill had feelings for them all along, and is still pretty heavily broken up about their departure seven years later. She's even seeing illusions of the Warden in Lowtown at one point, asking Anders about her...there are a lot of mentions of Mahariel if you import one.
...it was hinted at in DA:O too.
The Warden had the most drawn out goodbye with her. My headcanon detectors go crazy right there. :S

Pls. Be nice. I can barely stand all the hate threads, i don't want to see Sera bashing in a thread i occasionaly follow too. ![]()
Also, it's friendship. Not romantic relationship. Calm down. ![]()

I'm no Sera hater, but I agree that ship is a big 'nope' though. Nope nope.
Interressant! Man, there's so much to be gained by varying your playthroughs! Yet I don't.
Some day I may do just the Origin stories for achievements.
Eh don't worry, I'm the exact same way. My canon Mahariel is the only Warden I can play. :S
Actually, do Wardens other than Cousland get any special reason to hate Howe, or just because he's one of Loghain's supporters? Always wondered how that works in Awakening with Nathaniel.
Nah, the personal problem with Howe is a Cousland thing. For everyone else it's just because he's a despicable person, while the tension with Nathaniel is mostly because you killed his father and are kind of living in his house.
Just noticed this! Yeah King, c'mon. Sera ain't so bad. Replace "SERA IS THE WORST OMG" with "LELIANA IS SUCH A WRITER'S PET OMG" and how does it feel.
Not saying you can't not like her, mind. But each to their own, yo.
This, thank you.

Snook pls, none ships Sera with Leliana. Not even me, c'mon. ![]()

Sorry, I'm just not a fan of Sera and her goat-licking agenda.
And yes, only a Nextwave reference is sufficent to convey my unbridled disgust for her.

Leliana never gives you a bull%@#* ultimatium to choose between your lover and your culture. That's because she's a decent, open-minded and warm-hearted human being instead of some bigoted, know-nothing, Tea Partier chav. The comparison is invalid on that basis alone.
Sorry, I'll try and stay even remotely on topic, but I just really don't like Sera... ![]()

Well, Howe does purge the Denerim Alienage, which certainly gives the City Elf Warden adequate motivation to kill him, but that hatred isn't really front and centre like with the Human Noble; I don't think it even gets a mention in Awakening.
