Everyone wants to impress Leliana. Harding has a fangirl moment when she thinks Leliana might have waved at her. :D

Really? In my playthrough she said "Sister Nightingale glared at me. I think she wants to have me killed"

Dang! Maybe it was Vivienne who waved at her? I can't remember... Or it depends on story choices...

Sister Nightingale glanced at Harding. "I think she's going to have me killed."

Vivienne waved at Harding ... or maybe someone else.

Leliana is Harding's most immediate superior, isn't she? Maybe it was a boss stare. You know, that kind of boss stare that makes you want to be living in another planet.

Harding's "I think she's going to have me killed." always makes me laugh. She sounds so completely nonchalant when she says it, like it'd be a minor inconvenience. :S

Leliana wouldn't be the Leliana i love without her past.

This.

I think without crossing paths with Marjolaine and becoming a bard, Leliana would have led an unremarkable and 'normal' life. While that would mean a lot less tragedy in her life, she also probably wouldn't have any combat skills, wouldn't be involved with stopping the 5th Blight, and wouldn't go on to become one of the founding members of the Inquisition.

In a weird way Marjolaine might have been good for Thedas.

Maybe it does. I hadn't completed Leli's personal quest at the time, so she was still in her "I am the danger!!!11!" phase.

I think it was more just about how Leliana scares a lot of the Inquisition staff.

Or bad depending on if Leliana becomes Divine and if she's hardened. Positive reforms or not, she still unleashes an ocean of blood.

I'm guessing she would have just been your everyday minstrel. She had the musical skill from her lessons with Cecile, but not really the status or other skill to go anywhere else when she died.

Maybe she'd have taken up shoemaking.

I'm not so sure. She still has the basic personality type that acts like a magnet for manipulators like Marjolaine and Dorothea. Even if Marjolaine had never entered her life, someone else of the same ilk would have eventually. Those people know how to spot someone they can use.

Marjolaine said that she and Leliana were the same, but she was wrong. She and Dorothea are much more similar, and Leliana was used by both.

That's true, it could very well be like the old "Well, ****" Hitler/time travel conundrum. Go back and remove Hitler, and someone even worse takes his place that actually wins. Maybe Leliana would end up even worse off. :S

There are many variables. That's the thing with AUs and what if scenarios. Consider In Hushed Whispers. The Inquisition could have a good spymaster instead of Leliana, but said spymaster should be able to be as bad ass as Sister Nightingale or else there is no one to get time to end Dorian's spell. Venatori and demons overrun and slay Dorian and the Inqusiitor during the dark future. End of story.

What we should take away from this is that you just don't mess with the past :P

That, it is.

But immensely fascinating. I do hope we get to see a bit more of it.

If Duncan delayed for, like, one hour at a tavern while doing whatever he was doing, my Warden would have deteriorated into Blight sickness and died in the middle of nowhere. Cue Darkspawn Chronicles.

Well, ****.

It's funny how the smallest things can have an impact.
Like, not entering Lothering's tavern.

For want of a nail, you will lose a shoe. (horseshoe, that is)

Strangely appropriate in this context. Hee. :D

If it stays away from Leliana-mutilation next time then I'd be fine with it.
