I loved In Hushed Whispers. It was one of my favourite parts in the game. It made me suffer watching what they had done to Leliana, it made me thrill when ugly Leli sacrificed to save the world, it made my Warden's proud of normal DAI Leliana in the aftermath when she said it was a good bargain sacrifice one's life to save the world. I like AUs and time travel plots, but those are things that must be done with extreme care, more so in a fantasy setting. We don't have a Tardis, or a DeLorean and even magic needs some kind of internal coherence to be well written.

It's funny how the smallest things can have an impact.
Like, not entering Lothering's tavern.
I like to think that, even if the Warden doesn't show up, Leliana beats up Loghain's thugs in the tavern anyway. Just because they were annoying. Maybe she becomes some kind of former Lay Sister vigilante, travelling the world, righting wrongs...this sounds kind of awesome.
My Warden actually turns down her request to join on her first attempt, only relenting after asking around town about her and on Alistair's convincing. Man, AU her where she never accepted her would be a miserable person.

I agree. It was horrible to watch, yet awesome at the same time. I just thought: "that's my girl!" ![]()

Lay Sister by day, hooded vigilante by night, for Thedas evil doers death comes in a giggle. This is the Legend of the Nightingale!

I much prefer doing Champions of the Just in my canon run, but Hushed Whispers definitely was a solid quest.

I've never done Champions of the Just. I don't consider any of my PCs radically pro-mage, but I can never justify siding with the Templars in any of the games for some reason. Especially DA2.

That is hard to watch. I still say she is missing an arm in that last shot of her before the Inquisitor returns to the present. *shudders*

I'd agree in DA2, but in DAI I personally find the Templar faction the better one to have around on the whole. Barris is the man, Fiona is...just there, I guess.
Also, I'm always making sure I don't end up making Leliana Divine because waifu, and Hushed Whispers gives her points. COTJ is just my safer bet.

I prefer Champions of the Just as well. I do think the game makes quite a few compelling arguments to choose the Templars (not that a pro-Templar like me really needed them but w/e).
It provides an eerie glimpse of evil, what would happen if you decided to go down such a dark path or if Envy takes your place. It's a look at a dark future in which the Inquisitor is still around, and reminds you of your morality and all that. All while you as the Inquisitor battle against it.
Not to mention that it features Cole in a great role, as well as Ser Barris, and I really like the fights in the quest.

While I definitely don't like the scrapped Leliana idea for COTJ, I really do wish they had something of that 'The player doesn't realize they're in the Fade until later' concept. That sounded really cool. Would have made a solid quest an amazing one, I've always wanted the Fade to be like it was in the other media. I want it to f*** wit my mind...

Yeah... that's the thing I didn't really like about when Envy tries to take over your mind... you immediately know you're not in the real thing. I'd have loved for it to seem real.

I prefer In Hushed Whispers because of the heroic sacrifice and the more urgent feeling it has. The whole Envy playing games with your mind was another demon tempting you in the Fade sequence for me. I did it with my mage Trevelyan and he had the option to say exactly what I was thinking: "I know what you are and what you are trying to do."

I agree, it would have been much better believing you were not in the Fade. Take out the Leli seduces the Inquisitor part and it would have been great for me.
Anyway I think it's a question of personal likes and preferences, both were great quests imo.

That's probably the only reason I would consider, tbh.
I dunno...massive magical hole in the sky? I though mages were pretty useful tbh.
I dunno, I just felt for the mages. I can see why they did what they did with Alexius. Fiona was a fool, but I wouldn't damn them all for it. Plus I have a consistent trend to keep up, it seems! ![]()

In any event, DAI's Fade is better than the Warden's greatest dream the demon can conjure being Warden related. It was supposed to be the happiest they could be. Couldn't they have cooked up something Origin specific? Pah. I'll just headcanon she saw something else...
That sequence was annoying, but I liked how Leliana said 'You have no power... over... me' as she's falling asleep.
And when she wakes up from her nightmare. 'Holy Maker!'
She was so much more emotive back then. *sad*

I would have tried Champions Of The Just in my second pt if it wasn't for the countdown part, I really hate time limits in quests (yes, Wicked Eyes And Wicked Hearts was a nightmare for me). So I'll stick with the mages.
Also, I'm always making sure I don't end up making Leliana Divine because waifu, and Hushed Whispers gives her points.
Not necessarily. Leliana only gets points if you ally with the mages, if you conscript them the points go to Vivienne.

I think the dramatic arc works best if the Templar Order, the remnant of the former Inquisition whose corruption has become steadily more obvious over the years, finally just joins Corypheus and is crushed by the new Inquisition. The one downside here is that this also works best if the Seekers go permanently extinct as well, but I don't know if I'm comfortable telling Cassandra that she shouldn't try to rebuild them.
Barris... eh, I don't have much regard for him. He's just another competent soldier in a game with plenty.

I heard that last night. Leliana's sleepy voice is sexy as hell. Imagine that first thing in the morning...

I bloody hate the Fade bit with the Islands though. Urgh. I just realised I took Alistair instead of Morrigan this time when Wynne joined. Dammit! I love Morrigan's Fade dream. She ain't buying it, demon. ![]()
Sad thing is, my Warden wasn't sure if Flemeth being a loving mother was actually her worst nightmare or greatest desire. ![]()

I also just realized this playthrough that the Warden has different dialogue in Leliana's dream if the romance has progressed further. The dialogue is worded in a way that makes them sound much more relieved, and they can say to her that they 'know her quite well.'
Huh.
I didn't know this. Huh. I usually do the Circle first to get that Fade crap out of the way.

I've usually done Broken Circle before my Warden and her even kissed each other, so I'm 98% sure rn that this is all new to me. :S
I always do those quests in the same order: Circle, Orzammar and Brecilian Forest. The fact that we get companions from the first two is a big deciding factor in that.
