Funny thing about Leliana, I always thought she had a 'submissive' personality. She seems to change based on who she is connected to. When she was with Marjolaine, she was scheming and fairly ruthless. With the chantry, she became self-effacing and gentle. Then the Warden came along, and she got stuck between the two extremes, having to kill (and enjoying it), while trying to remain a force of good. I think that's what led to her internal conflict in origins. She did not know which one to pick and needed someone else to help find her place. Then she became an agent of the Divine and found a middle ground, but with the death of Justinia, I think she is kind of adrift again.

This is a woman who invests all of her being into the people she is close to: Marjolaine, The Maker, the Warden (even as just a friend) and then the Divine, but now she has lost them all. I can understand her being 'darker' this time around. Everyone she has ever loved has been taken from her. Poor woman.

That's why I'm conflicted about a romance. Of course, as someone who really loves Leliana, and would like a romance, I feel that it could quickly become the same thing as in Origins. Then again, it could be fleshed out more than in that game.

Hey guys, remember those letters in Awakening Leliana sent but you never got them because of a bug?

BioWare has made it up to us. I just got a postcard from Redcliffe!

It's so cheery!

I love the selection of orange for font color.  It radiates feelings of warmth and happiness :)

She probably dies in the beginning of Inquisition while at the peace conference when the veil tear opens up. I've also heard the devs say that most of the Chantry's leadership is wiped out during the beginning of the game.

I didn't know Leliana was supposed to send letters in Awakening.

I heart her even more now.

Dearest,

I hope you are well. Alas, I am unable to come to the keep as I promised. I am so sorry, but the Grand Cleric herself wishes to speak with me. I will tell you all about it once I have had my audience.

Is it true the darkspawn have not retreated? No matter, I'm sure you have it under control. Wish I could be there, killing darkspawn beside you. Perhaps you could save some for me?

(All right, that was a joke. Do not spare them. That would be silly.)

You are always in my thoughts.

Love, Leliana

P.S. Maybe you could consider growing some roses around your keep? That would make it so much prettier, don't you think?

Oh, okay, thanks.  I thought it was in one of the books and I managed to miss it somehow.

*melts*

So this is just another one of those bugs that would have made things 200% better if it had been fixed. ME had a few of those, IIRC.

Well, it shows up in the codex. It doesn't pop up as a piece of paper in your inventory.

I'm actually playing through Awakenings now and the letter is in game.
If I remember correctly they patched it in with the final patch they did for it.

It is well hidden though and there is no pop- up or anything to tell you that you have it, but you can find it in the codex under "notes".

Yes, I just read the note in the article and it does say it was patched eventually. Progress!

That letter is like the perfect mix of violent and sweet Leliana, and I love it.

I've just realised the implication of Allan Schumacher liking my earlier post. Oh god she's gonna die!! :crying: :crying:*commence grieving* :crying: :crying:

The 'new' Leliana isn't really a departure from hardened Leliana in DA:O.

Since Leliana ended up hardened in my playthrough, it works for me.

Hopefully, she'll remain unhardened if you kept her so in Origins.

I am pretty sure she's going to die even though the thought is tearing my heart out.

And then, as is appropriate, I will grieve by reciting Chantry verses, listening to her song from Origins, and killing her killers with neck-snaps and archery. And then I'll try and find the smell of "sugared roses, incense and candy floss".

I'm fairly certain Leliana will only die if we really mess up our choices, so I don't think we have much to worry about.

Maybe she will not die, depending on the choices from previous games.

Oh I don't really like scripted deaths in choice-heavy games like these, but I've got this nagging feeling this game is the last chapter in Leliana's story. :(

What choices are you thinking about?
