More than a CGI trailer, some gameplay during the Conclave would have been a perfect opportunity to build up a bit of the Inquisitor different backgrounds.
Granted, we knew from marketing that we were going to be the sole survivor of the explosion. But there are ways to involve us in that kind of prologue even while knowing the outcome.
Any family/co-worker/employer we would have interact with beforehand could have been a few miles from the explosion (like Cullen and Leliana). The game making it unclear who would survive.
Eh, missed opportunity.

It's Orlais though xd
This...while Marjolaine has an obnoxious accent while speaking the basic trade language of Thedas (what's it called?!), in Orlais people would typically be speaking Orlesian to each other. She wouldn't have an accent in Orlais, except for maybe some small regional differences.
Yeah, I actually hoped we'd get to play as our Quizzy right before the explosion. Meeting with the residents there, talking to Justinia, Regalyan, basically anyone that was confirmed to be there.
Having a friend/relative with you would've mad things much more interesting and emotional.
The opening scene could have been the Inquisitor walking toward Haven, meeting up with people, the last scene being where you settle in for the night and then fade-to black, the next scene you have the Inquisitor waking in the Fade with spiders chasing after them. (basically the first scene in the game) And then you are left wondering until Here Lies the Abyss what transpired between you going to sleep and having to wake up in the Fade with a mark on your hand and a Divine-like spirit helping you escape.

I thought it's called the King's Tongue. Everyone but Fereldans are bilingual
Well, the Free Marches seems to use it exclusively. So does Tevinter when they aren't swearing, and the Anderfels doesn't seem to have another language. I'm not even sure that Nevarra or Antiva do.
Zevran says some Spanish phrases in passing here and there, so I'm assuming just like French apparently equals Orlesian, Spanish apparently equals Antivan.
Which is a bit confusing now that they've made them Italian.
That still Corinne's voice? Almost sounds like it.
Nah. Would be cool if it was, though. Don't think it's often a VA does the voicework across multiple languages.
That still Corinne's voice? Almost sounds like it.
EDIT: Seems like it isn't her, which is a shame...since Leliana's VA is from France. She does speaks some French with a character she voices for The Secret World:
Corinne does a lot of French commercials.
Unfortunately, the only French Leliana has ever spoken in the series as far as I remember is her 'Merde!' in some of the adviser chatter.
...kinda wish she called the Warden 'mon amour' at one point...I'd probably get diabetes...
I have an extremely cheese mental image of Leliana and my Warden exchanging 'mon amour' and 'ma vhenan's...
*drowning in diabeetus*
Mmh, this video is interesting on so many levels:
1. The part about people seeking approval and that being exploitable? She sounds oblivious to how much this applies to her.
2. 'I don't want to be a person others think of as dangerous'. Ooh boy. She didn't get that wish.
3. There's that dichotomy of character. One minute all sugar and roses, the next matter-of-factly discussing means to extract information. *shudder*
Oh Leliana. The dramatic irony of your life flies right over your head.
There are a lot of conversations with Leliana in DA:O that are interesting/gutwrenchingly sad/a little bit of both in retrospect now, as I've become well aware of this playthrough. :S
I've actually never seen the bit where she gets angry with you there, though.
Oh and talking about that playthrough of mine...
*mischievous face*
Her and Ms. Mahariel did the thing.
Stiff as DA:O's facial animations were, there were some good smirks here and there. Did she ever once have her old mischievous look in DA:I at any point? Probably not, she smiled rarely. Oh well. :3

Not that I recall, but she does have this adorable expression during Josephine's personal quest that is a mix of fondness and exasperation.
See it here at 9:18.
If the Inquisitor sides with her in that argument as I usually did, I always saw it as a smug 'neener neener s/he chose meeee.' :S
While cleaning my folder I found a few cute ones:
*OMG drop this sword you're ruining yur back* (unless you're a Qunari)
Let's nip at my Sith cloak, 'cause why not?
And a weird smirk?
^And yeah the part with Josephine.
But yeah she frowns a lot, I don't really mind, she has a lot of responsabilities and all. I think advisors were well done in that regard in Inquisition. Would have been weirder if they acted like your buddies imo.
Another, you have to flycam to really see it well unfortunately, but:

Nostalgia at Valence.
I really wish the conversations about the Warden were cinematic conversations instead of boring old generic freecamera ones. I reckon we'd get a few decent nostalgia/longing smiles and the like. ![]()

The skull behind her makes me laugh for some reason. We just need a nug on the other side to set up a 'shoulder devil and angel' routine. ![]()
Yeah, my Inquisitor's staff back there doesn't really fit with the smirk, does it. ![]()

Nice shot.
Yeah but I can see why it wasn't a priority. Not everyone romanced Leliana in Origins afterall. The dialogue we got with her about a romanced Warden was satisfactory enough for me. The only remaining question is the Warden fate if alive and what Leliana will do wether she is Divine or not? We know what she intends to do (reunite with them).

Makes me think about that XD
I think all of the companions & advisers should have had fully cinematic conversations. The lack of them made DA:I the least immersive game in the series.
