Didn't they said that you don't have to send her to redcliff?
Sister Nightingale: Leliana in DA:I Appreciation&Discussion (Nope, still not romanceable)

You don't have to send her on that mission.
But she'll die somewhere else, ofc.

Hardened Leliana is still pretty keen on mercy, from what I recall. It's part of her strong belief in redemption.
Also she did she used to be an assassin of sorts before running off to the Chantry.

What choices are you thinking about?
Choices from the keep, such as if the PC was pro Mage or pro Circle for example. If she was romanced etc. can't think of of one such example from DA, am sure it exists - give me time, but I take a cue from ME3 where companions died if they were not looked after.

It does seem to be a trend in the 2000's to make people fall in love with various characters and kill them off. I'm looking at you, the Walking Dead!

We owe it to Ms. Kempa to hear every single line she has recorded for our beloved Leliana. After all, most of her charm lies in her voice. ![]()
If she does die, it had better be in a blaze of glory! No dying like a chump for our sweet Nightingale!

Sometimes that makes for a better story. The Walking Dead is a great example of that.

So they can sing together again? I guess throwing Cassandra and Sera in the mix too would make a lovely choir.

Sure, the Tome of Koslun is a Qunari song book after all.

Come to think of it, now I'm curious about how she gets caught in the first place... I blame the new boots.

If the Tome of Koslun has a cameo, I hope Cassandra puts a dagger through it.

Also she did she used to be an assassin of sorts before running off to the Chantry.
Hence why she's pretty keen on redemption. Morrigan is actually quite perspective on this point
But yeah, the things in the spoiler could explain it.

Whether or not Leliana finds salvation is a bit vague, though. You can have the Warden either push Leliana towards doubling down on the Chantry nun routine, or embracing her bard past. If you go with the latter, Leliana will say that the life of a Chantry sister bored her. Any DA:I ruthlessness might just be reverting to old form.
It is interesting that she chooses to be an agent of the Divine. Its almost as if after DA:O she is somewhere in the middle between the Orlesian bard and the Lothering nun. She serves the Chantry but her job description is closer to that of a bard's than a Chantry lay sister.

I have to admit, that sounds very good.
For replayability reasons, of course. Plus, consequences.

I think Leliana getting "hardened" happend no matter what in DA: I. Atleast, that's the feeling I'm getting. Its easier to go from that point than to create 2 different versions of Leliana when she is gonna be more ruthless either way.

After being spoiled, I'm going to avoid sending her on that one if I can.
No one except the Warden ties up Leliana!

Even if she was not hardened in Origins, Inquisition takes place at least 10 years after that. In that time, she saw the start of the Mage-Templar war, not to mention the blowing up of a Chantry. That would alter anyone, especially a devout follower of the Chantry.
