Mine actually really likes being a Grey Warden and doesn't mind fighting darkspawn. You're allowed to kill as many as you want without feeling guilty.

My Warden is the same, though for different reasons.

Same here. My Warden realized long ago that he could either ****** and moan about his fate as a Warden like a spoiled teenager being asked to help with the dishes or an Objectivist faced with tax season (same difference, really), or he could buck up, grab his sword, and represent the elves as best he could on the field of battle. The choice was an obvious one.

next thing we know Coryphiana will be a thing

Weekes said they have their similarities

BETTER SHIP THEM

Yeah, well, that's how most stupid pairings develop. Either that, or two characters who hate each others' guts are suddenly thrown together because people like to read about hatesex (Merrill/Fenris is a key offender here).

I think my Warden has long since stopped hating her job. She's accepted her fate, as she expressed to Arianne in Witch Hunt. Good things have happened to her as a result. She still just doesn't like darkspawn or the Wardens much. Especially after learning about broodmothers. I think, after that moment, a part of her never wanted anything to do with the Deep Roads, darkspawn, or the taint ever again.

Guess that inkling thought made it's way to the forefront of her mind by DA:I.

My Warden was resigned to her life being awful after the wedding incident and being recruited into the Wardens. Then after she met and fell in love with Leliana she started to rebel at the thought of being robbed of a chance at being happy again.

On another note, we were discussing resistance to the Blight and Darkspawn weakness against silverite. Perhaps silverite is one of the keys to curing the taint. Wearing armor made of the stuff might slow down the taint in Wardens. *grasping at straws* I do have to wonder what it is about silverite that makes it especially effective against Darkspawn.

About the same story for me, yeah. Minus the wedding and replaced with the mirror, anyway.

One of my favourite moments was in Witch Hunt, where Arianne asks a Mahariel Warden if she would change everything that happened to her, while standing in the ruins where their life was changed forever, and you can respond with "No. Everything happens for a reason."

Probably the best bit of that DLC to me, actually. Character development.

Drink a nice silverite smoothie every morning for a prescribed period perhaps? :S

As for why it's effective...it's really shiny, and darkspawn don't like light very much. Perhaps it has some magical property related to light, that proves especially potent against the 'dark' in darkspawn. There are silverite runes you could apply in DA:O after all.

But being a Grey Warden means that you're forever safe from becoming a broodmother.

I also find it interesting that Larius shows that the Calling doesn't ever truly kill you. It doesn't even truly drive you insane; Larius was confused and erratic, but still basically lucid. And once you bottom out, the darkspawn stop noticing you. I wonder if there are any other such Wardens down in the Deep Roads, living on the fringes of the darkspawn, not at risk of being poisoned by eating the darkspawn dead, so being able to exist down there almost indefinitely.

Quite possibly. This is the prior screengrab that I have...

It's a shame she isn't romancable for someone who didn't romance her in Origins. She's the only female in the group that I find attractive. I fond her attractive in Origins as well, but that game also had Morrigan.

That's not really confirmed. Hell, Gaider seemed to imply they hadn't even considered the implications of it.

Spoiler

Still basically makes you wither away as a blighted zombie. Not an idea my Warden is entirely fond of after seeing what it did to Tamlen.

...and on another note...

My Warden would be quite pleased if she never had to see another darkspawn again.

AND THEN SUDDENLY

OUT OF NOWHERE

Then it saddens me that Gaider didn't seem to remember that Wardens are immune to darkspawn taint and true ghouldom.

Well, it's not good, to be sure. I'm totally fine with finding a way to cure the Calling... but if it strips Lilith of the status of being a Warden period, I think she'd really prefer Avernus' method.

Ehh, they do become ghouls. Isn't that the main reason they go on the calling?

Pretty much, yeah. The whole point is to die taking out as many darkspawn as you can with you before you wither away.

There totally should have been a scene where Leliana's icy demeanour breaks due to a particularly nice pair of shoes...we all know the soft spot is still under there somewhere. :S

We kinda did. At the Winter Palace she's being pretty distracted by shoes. ''So many crimes against fashion''. :D

According to dialogue, the Warden is already trying to find a way to cure their taint. It is, in fact, why they're missing in DAI. They were busy finding a cure when the breach happened, and kept it up since someone (Morrigan or Leliana or SOMEONE) told them that the situation was in hand... Literally, as in it was in someone's literal actual hand. That's the thing about a Warden who did the dark ritual, they are a determinator of determinators. They're told they're going to die young and be really infertile, and our Warden decides "f*** that" and starts finding a way to circumvent it. And our Warden will succeed, we all know it. So our Warden is going to live long and prosper and possibly even have children without any rituals, which is especially good for a king Alistair and queen Warden since it will avert the succession crisis that was sure to happen since they weren't going to have an heir together while both tainted.

So don't worry, they're fine. If Fiona could get cured, so can our Warden. They just need to find how she did it and replicate it... Easy-peasy.

*gasp*

I just realized something... Still, not sure how that ties in with Leli thread, but you got me onto something by referencing Fiona.

She only got cured because of Architects influence in the whole thing. Maybe the cure is dependent on him.

Hope not, I never let him live. So a lot of my Warden's are sh!t out of luck if that's the case.

I meant from a story standpoint. Those Warden's are no longer around anyway, I always delete a character when I'm fully done with their playthrough. Too many saves slow down how long saving and reloading works, so it's best to keep the number of save files light.

Having a rare chat with Blackwall yesterday (mostly ignored by me after his little deception) and when talking about the advisors mentions he thinks all Leliana has is her work and thinks she is lonely

ughh...THE FEELS

I just wanted to go and give her a hug there and then.  Thinking of the contrast between unhardened, warm, hopeful Leliana in DAO and her state now  regardless of hardened or not made me :(

You know what sucks if you romanced Leliana and your Warden is still alive in DAI and you soften her? Leliana is changed without them if you soften her. Either they're the one who pushed her to be as hardened as she is in DAI in which case you're changing her in a way the Warden didn't want if you softened her, or they didn't like the kind of person she was becoming but couldn't soften her which means that someone who is merely a friend managed to soften her even when her soul mate failed to do so. So either you change her personality in a way the Warden won't like, or you managed to soften her again when even the Warden couldn't and thus they're going to be pretty upset that some random inquisitor did what they couldn't... Might cause some jealousy on that one.

Either way, it just feels wrong to be the one to soften her. The Warden should be the one to do that. But not-softened Leliana is so damned cruel that I can't NOT soften her.

The inspiration/steeling thing in DAI is completely different from the hardening or not in DAO. And it could only happen either way with Justinia releasing her.

I didn't meant the DAO hardening. If 10 years later she is is as hard as she is in DAI, the Warden either wanted her that way or didn't but failed to keep her from going bad... And then your little inquisitor comes along and easily softens her. Not right.
