I didn't meant the DAO hardening. If 10 years later she is is as hard as she is in DAI, the Warden either wanted her that way or didn't but failed to keep her from going bad... And then your little inquisitor comes along and easily softens her. Not right.

Justinia was twisting Leliana as well, and Leliana only became worse after Justinia's death, when the Hero of Ferelden was already gone.

So Justinia was corrupting her while the Warden was off finding the taint cure? I just wonder if the Warden is going to show up again and be like "whoa what the hell happened to your personality" or not even see a change.

The Warden is tied up in Bioware's car boot so I don't think it will be an issue

The warden isn't the only person who is important to Leliana. Justinia clearly had a huge influence. Neither of them are around during Inquisition, and she just suffered the massive trauma of losing one. Who but the inquisitor could influence her at that time? Cassandra or Josephine maybe, but the Warden is in no position to react to her day-to-day actions.

My Warden right now if that ends up being the case:

Don't worry. My canon Warden actually let him live to get help with the Mother. She wanted to nail him right when she's done killing her.

Turns out the little bosh'tet disappeared meanwhile, never to be seen again.

It'd be hilarious if this would save my Warden's life.

So, yeah. Don't worry. Had the Architect not packed his bags and RAN the moment Kallian was nailing the Mother, she'd be equally FUBAR as your Warden (what'shernamebtw?)

Precisely why the Inquisitor should be able to console her and give her a hug....so many times i wanted to do that.

The Warden literally begged the Inquisitor to help Leliana find the light again in their letter, seeing as they're not around to help her themselves, so I don't see why they would have a problem with the Inquisitor softening her.

Mine certainly wouldnt. She'd have to give my Inquisitor a hug.

I think that their relationship is a little too professional for that sort of thing, at least early on. The inquisition isn't quite like the Warden's merry band of wanderers and they don't really seem to get close until later in the game...

yeah I don't think the BANTER is quite at the level the Warden and his crazy gang had.  I think both DAO and DA 2 bants is so much more fun than DAI

Yeah. I never felt like my Inquisitor was Leliana's friend, really. Certainly not to the extent of the Warden. Maybe after she's softened, but never to the point where I felt as if the Inquisitor could be counted among Leliana's closest people like the Warden, Josephine, Justinia...which, goes without saying for the Warden if she was romanced.

I like it, actually. Same with the difference between Varric/Hawke and Varric/Inquisitor. We're playing different people, they shouldn't interact with us in the same way.

It also just occured to me...the Inquisitor basically knows absolutely nothing about Leliana on a personal level. They don't know about her mother, her Fereldan heritage, Cecile, Marjolaine betraying her, only the vaguest details of her finding faith, only catch glimpses of her enthusiasm for shoes, songs, nugs...pretty much all they know about her is that she used to be a bard, became a big shot in the Blight, potentially fell in love with the Hero of Ferelden, and was very devoted to Justinia who she served as left hand. Only one of those is really personal information.

Heh, imagine your Lavellan's fangirl moment if your Mahariel hugged her.

... considering how you claim the former is the latter's big fan.

Same for Morrigan. Same for Varric. It's easy for us to forget as players that unlike in the ME games the Inquisitor doesn't have the same history with returning characters as we do...

Heh, yeah. You would need to fetch her a fainting couch. :S

Honestly, that's one of the reasons why I've found bringing back all these returning characters in big roles with the multiple protagonist formula is a bit flawed. Really, they should have needed to introduce them all over again, which would get redundant from a returning player's perspective, but the Inquisitor's perspective it makes sense.

I feel like BioWare forgot the Inquisitor really knew nothing about these people sometimes, to boot. Take Leliana's personal quest. When she realizes that Justinia was using her, she says 'But Marjolaines schemes were trifles...Justinia gambled with the fates of nations.'

Meanwhile, Inquisitor really would have been all "That's interesting, but...who the heck is Marjolaine?" Really, she never came up in any conversation with her before that.

I look forward to going north in the next games, because it seems like it could be time for a relatively clean slate, with only a bit of baggage here and there. Hopefully not Leliana's baggage though, she's supposed to be with the Warden...

I can just imagine DAI Leliana's answer.

"Another bard who I had a bad experience with. Let us leave it at that."

The Inquisitor presumably had conversations with people that we didn't actually see.

Well i dislike the seeming inherent bias of that line. Personally my warden loves hardened Leliana & wouldn't see softening her as the best way for her to deal with her current crisis. Both hardened & softened emerge with their faith.

Hardened Leliana in Origins still has a conscience. Steeled Leliana in Inquisition really doesn't anymore.

Both are very much view that the ends justify the means.

Hardened Leliana isn't nearly as much so as steeled Leliana.
