I think that maybe what flycam actually reveals is that you're not supposed to use flycam or you break the story.... ;)

Yeah.  I was curious to see what Sera was doing while Inky was explaining that she didn't know what gift to give her because I could see her moving around, so I flycammed it.  Sera goes through the "climb on top of the Inquisitor and roll over on the bed" animation, by herself.     :)

Some more details about Leliana's pre-bard life from World of Thedas, pages 84-85.

Leliana's mother was named Oisine, a name of Irish origin which means little deer. In legend, it was said that Oisine was the greatest poet in Ireland and also a warrior. Oisine died shortly after Leliana turned 4.  :(

Cecile's surname was Vasseur.

Leliana used to practice dancing on Cecile's stone terrace at her villa on the Waking Sea, the same terrace where she used to sit with her mother, smelling the flowers Andraste's Grace.

Leliana first visited Val Royeaux when she was 16.

Hmm, that name meaning almost makes me think her mother was more than just a servant at some point...

Still nothing on her father though, wonder if there'll be any little hints at that.

Yeah, her mother's name meaning sure got me thinking, and we never know how Leliana's mother died. Or who her father was. Something tells me her parents were more than simple peasants/servants. I mean, she has to inherit her adventurous spirit from someone.

For some reason amazon isn't letting me browse inside again, if anyone can open Leliana's pages 84/85, and see if there's anything else about her birth, father, etc. it would be appreciated. :3 Those are probably the things I'm most curious about.

I still kinda prefer the idea of Leliana being lowborn, but being lowborn doesn't mean her mother couldn't have been more than a servant.

Hmm..I wonder if Cecile adopted her to the point where Leliana might call herself Leliana Vasseur if she needs a surname.

Errrr, Oisine... Warrior and greatest poet of Ireland.

Hmm...

My warning lights are lit. I smell that Leliana is following a tradition. Does the book mention HOW Oisine/Leli's mother died?

Maybe she was a Bard, too?

Leliana's mother was Ferelden so I'm not sure she was a bard. The warrior/poet thing makes me think of the Dalish, actually. Leliana had a fascination with Elves from a young age. Possibly she inherited the trait from her mother? The name Oisinne meaning 'small deer' also brings to mind the Dalish and their Halla rather than bards.

So Leliana's mother was probably Dalish? Maybe a warrior/hunter. I wouldn't mind this. Or maybe Leliana's grandparents were Dalish, who knows. There's a probability Leliana has elven roots after all.

Next thing you know,  Leliana has a half-brother/sister who lived in the same clan with Mahariel. :P

Fereldan names are often Irish. Like Cailan and Loghain.

(The guy who Jeremy Clarkson punched was called Oisin)

I'm pretty sure her mother was human. I'm just thinking that she might have been friends with some Dalish folk. I think Leliana would remember if her mom had been an Elf. Or maybe she was just close with some fellow servants who were Elves.

The name could just have no special meaning and they picked it because it sounded nice.

Eh, if she was Dalish I imagine she would have recalled that around my Warden. :S

It does sound like it's Dalish in inspiration. Hell, maybe Leliana's not a half elf, but a quarter elf. Her mother is half-elven.

/baseless speculation

The Queen of the Basement Felines wins again. I find your theory superior.

25% Elf, 25% Ferelden human, 50% Orlesian human, 100% hot.

If the above equation is correct, Loghain was right. She's more Orlesian than Ferelden.

Hmm, though redheadedness is apparently a distinctly Ferelden trait. Perhaps her father had some Ferelden blood too? Needed to have the trait anyway. Who knows. :S

But yeah, no matter what the case is, she got the good genes out of it.

I'm not sure if it's a distinct trait or just a more common trait among Fereldens. And I wouldn't look too hard at genetics in a universe where Elf-human hybrids look completely human.

Hm, I'm mostly going off Masked Empire, where Celene describes Leliana's features as distinctly Ferelden, which I'm assuming meant the hair. Unless distinctly Fereldan cheekbones and noses is a thing, I guess.

And I wouldn't look too hard at genetics in a universe where Elf-human hybrids look completely human.

I believe it's been said the reason for that is a magical one rather than a genetic one.

Yeah... That was a very weird decision. White teeth were apparently distracting, but just about everyone found the brown teeth jarring.

And ooh!
