Mommy!Leliana sure is an enigma.

 

Too bad we'll probably never see that side of her. But she sure seems to feel good around children.

 

I think it's probably because she either never loved anyone that much (no Romance) or her lover is either another woman, or a pretty much sterile man - because we all know that Wardens can't really have kids.

 

Maybe adoption... Would be sweet to see a biological kid, but to this day, Morrigan remains the only Origins romance to produce a kid.

I just don't think she has any interest in raising children. Period.

 

Alistair is a Warden, so the likelihood of him fathering children was slim to begin with (and non-existent with a Warden lover). Zevran's kind of busy with the Crows.

I don't think it's a lack of interest but more like the fear that she could bring harm to her children with her position as Left Hand/Spymaster. She does say she has enemies of her own and regardless whether she remains Spymaster or becomes Divine she is still a dangerous person with many enemies.

 

Leliana is already with a shattered psyche in Inquisition (though I think she has been emotionally frail ever since Marjolaine's betrayal), she has lost all those she has cared for, except the Warden and imagine how devastated she would be if any harm came to her child or she lost him/her as well. I don't think Leli would be able to bear it. Hell, she seems deeply concerned even when Kieran gets lost in the Fade.

 

In a way, Leliana becoming a mother can bring both good and harm to her. She can be a caring and loving mother but also very paranoid and protective, perhaps even too much. It's a good thing the Warden might be there to balance all that.

Not sure about mommy Leliana raising little kiddos but I'd like to imagine the Warden and Leliana raising nug babies and mabari puppies for starters before moving on to those little wailing and squealing nightmares. A family of nugs and furkids. What can possibly go wrong?

Weekes mentioned something about Leliana as the Divine changing those celibacy rules right? Mommy Leliana is possible, I guess, assuming the Warden succeeded in curing himself of the Taint. If not, think she'll adopt her agents' kids if they died on the field?

Aaaand? A Divine with kids? The scandal! Try adding that to a list of drastic reforms she's made. A Blight, a corrupt magister, wars, sweeping Chantry reforms? Dragon Age has got to be the most interesting era in Thedas.

A Warden who slept with Morrigan and did not undergo the DR gets a normal "old-god free" Kieran. Sorcery? Sheer luck?

I mean, Leliana is all for mage freedom and since magic in Thedas is known to help with conceiving children I'm not surprised if Leliana asks them for help. The mages do owe her their freedom so I doubt they'd hesitate with helping her and the Warden have a child, with Leliana being late 30s by the time she is Divine and the Warden having low fertility.

 

Either way, the writers are leaving the part of reproduction in romances entirely to headcanon/fanfiction.

figures that the few things they opt to leave for headcanon are the ones that don't matter to me personally at all

My own great grand mother had my grandmother at 45. Of course it wasn't the norm, but women having children past their forties happened far more often in the past than people might think. Given my own elders account of how women "wearing the black", aka when women were suddenly considered too "old" (sometimes as soon as late 30s) to wear bright colors could found themselves pregnant.

It was even more common after major conflicts, because there were lots of widows who remarried (speaking from a western-european perspective here).

 

 

But all these children headcanons don't really interest me anyway.

 

Leliana will still be decent with the murder-knife as a granny though. Of that I'm certain.

That's too old to be having children in a setting that doesn't have modern medicine, and where probably some percentage of women die in childbirth.

 

Also the Warden is practically sterile. While Grey Wardens can occasionally have children, it is exceedingly rare.

I think the version of that story she told to the Warden is the correct one.

The loss of Tug made it difficult for Leliana and Sketch to carry on as they had been. They parted ways, Leliana fleeing into Ferelden to keep away from Marjolaine. Leliana would continue to tell stories of the trio, often embellishing the details, and admits rather freedly that it is her way of reliving a happier time. Sketch, on the other hand, is rather less fond of Leliana taking liberties with the truth, as evidenced from his letters to her.

Something I just realized: if you ally with the mages, you get a letter from sketch who is part of the Mage rebellion. Does that mean sketch dies if you side with the Templars???

My Cousland when pushed by both beauties in DAO chose Morrigan over Leliana but there are times that my Warden while sitting on a nice Antivan beach thinks of Leliana and thinks 'what if I chose her....'

 

 (my headcanon is he found the Calling Cure and is living it up in Antiva....Morrigan is going to hit the roof when she finds out )

Not only that. Who'd knew she was once a sheltered and cheerful girl? Also, the hunting part confirms my theory that she's not always the ruthless princess stabbity people make her out to be. To see her dramatic personality change after Marjolaine's betrayal is quite something, I'll give you that.

The DLC came out way after DAO. Figured the devs embellished it a little to make it more interesting for the players. Either that or Leliana is making it up as she goes.

Nobody confirmed it yet. Going into hiding for so long, I daresay Sketch is pretty skilled avoiding the Templars. I doubt he'd die just like that if we support the Templars. But then, he's coordinating closely with Fiona during the events of DAI so I'm not sure whether he followed Fiona in joining forces with Corypheus. Sketch strikes me as the pacifist kind and would rather run than fight. So there's that. It's just my opinion anyway.
