A way to get Leliana's messenger to trigger is to save the game outside of her tower. There is a door that leads to the rampart there. Save and reload, then go back inside. I got a few messenger convos with Leliana that way.

Started another playthrough of Origins today with all DLCs included so I replayed Leliana's Song first and it's amazing how much Leliana's changed over the years.
Seeing her so naive and innocent, even after Marjolaine betrays her and then remembering how cold and merciless she is in Inquisition, gotta say, that's one dramatic change. Even a little bit frightening and heartbreaking.
Replaying Leliana's Song, I'm just glad I softened her in Inquisition, especially after hearing Marjolaine's we are the same speech.

I like how Dagna, Leliana and the Inquisitior's relationship develops during the Calpernia quest.
Leliana is M, Dagna is Q and the Inquisitor is James Bond. ![]()

I noticed that Leliana's spies all have profession oriented code names. Butler, Painter, Charter, Butcher, Farrier, etc. We also get to recruit Tanner for her in the Hinterlands. I wonder if she has a Baker and Candlestick Maker in the lot...
On another note, I really liked the recording crystal bit we saw in the Calpernia quest. Too often in games magic is limited to 'different flavors of death'. It was nice to see magic applied to spying (Dwarves can't do magic? Yeah right.). And of course the Eluvians are travel magic. Even if we don't get to use it a lot, it's a nice little touch.
I haven't tried the multiplayer (don't plan to), but I did watch a few let's plays. I did hear a few other Leliana lines, but I don't think anyone has made a compilation of multiplayer advisor lines (it's just at the beginning/end/failure anyway). *sigh* Working as an agent could have made a good single player line too.

Dat stare...
I loved Leliana's role in Inquisition, but she would've made an awesome morally gray antagonist as well, something similar to Calpernia.
The pictures are not working for me, but I agree that Leliana has all the potential needed to be an antagonist. Someone who is prepared to do anything for what they believe is right, but lose perspective in the process. Oh Leliana. Kidnapping children is not okay, no matter what higher purpose you serve. Hardened Leliana is well and truly on the slippery slope. Road to Hell and all that.

I edited my post, the picture should be showing. :3
But, yeah, hardened Leliana sure is pushing it, makes sense with Weekes' comment about her being Corypheus' dark mirror. Both of them were betrayed by what they believed in, the difference is that Leliana had the Warden/Josephine/Inquisitor to steer them on the right path.
I wonder what kind of person she would've been if Dorothea never helped her out of that prison or she never joined Marjolaine...

Or if her mother had lived longer. Leliana is such a malleable person, it's impossible to tell who or what she might have become with different influences.

Ehh, I'm not a big fan of Leliana turning evil; there's been far too much of that happening as it is in the franchise without adding one of its best characters to the pile. Solas I could see in an antagonistic role, he's ruthless enough, and he kicked off the catastrophe at the Conclave to begin with. Vivienne as well, she's basically the Token Evil Teammate anyways, but Leliana? Not so much.

Oh, I don't like ruthless Leliana either. I want her to be as soft as a lamb and as optimistic as Mother Theresa. ![]()

True. It's also important to note that even at her most ruthless, her goals and aims are pretty commendable; to reform the Chantry and undo the centuries of persecution it has committed against mages and non-humans.

Yes, her goals are admirable, but it's so easy to become a monster when one forgets how one reaches those goals. I mean, kidnapping an innocent young man? (possible child?) Bad form, Leliana. Bad form.

If Leliana is hardened, she brings Victoire to heel by kidnapping a young cousin of hers. He could be an adult, teen or child. Still, it crosses a line with me.

Oh, right, thanks for clearing that up, I had forgotten about that. Yeah, bit of a dick move there, isn't it? Admittedly, keeping hostages was a fairly common thing in the Medieval period, but that was more by mutual agreement when making treaties rather than kidnapping someone for leverage. Still, Varel was right: it is a terribly Orlesian thing to do.

Yeah, I recently though about an AU where the Fifth Blight/Battle of Ostagar happened in 9:40 Dragon instead of 9:30 and the Origins characters had the same roles they have in Inquisition.
Alistair, an older, more mature Grey Warden, maybe even a Warden-Constable under the command of Duncan, who joins the Warden after Ostagar.
Morrigan, arcane advisor of Celene who joins the Warden with the intent of getting the Archedemon's soul for her own agenda against Flemeth.
And then Leliana, Left Hand of the Divine, secretly sent by Justinia as a lay sister/spy to aid the Wardens and stop the Blight from spreading to Orlais.
I can imagine the romance would be vastly different with an older, hardened assassin/spymaster Leliana. She would be more secretive/less playful and communicative with the Warden, but Justinia would still be alive so Leliana would still show off a brighter side once she befriends the Warden, maybe even tell them a story. And I have a feeling 9:40 Alistair, Morrigan and Leliana would get along with one another much more than their younger, Origin-selves.

Chronologically, yes it makes the most sense. That DLC was actually the first thing I played from Origins so I didn't know Lels was gonna get betrayed, so yeah, that dungeon scene and what it implied got me really fast.
The DLC went from fun to really dark in a second. I was like, Biowr, wtf, I didn't ask for this... for the rest of the DLC. Got me pumped to romance her in the main game though, ![]()

Yeah, Leliana's Song is a great DLC, and it's a pity World of Thedas vol. 2 sorta rendered it non-canon. Admittedly, I'm a bit biased in that respect, since the Red Iron will be playing a role in my fanfiction, but still, it was a good story. Also, on the subject of that DLC, anyone else get the impression that Silas really had a thing for our favourite bard?

I didn't exactly have him around long enough to make a judgement. He kind of struck me as someone going through life changes, like Leliana. Like maybe he'd become religious, like her.
I haven't read WoT 2. So it de-canonizes it? How so?

I believe in WoT 2, it has Leliana's backstory much closer to how she explains it in the core Origins experience; Marjorline betrayed her in Orlais itself, she didn't really step in Ferelden beforehand, and the Red Iron weren't really involved. That said, I'm going by the preview information that was posted on this thread a while back; despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to find a copy of WoT 2 at any bookstore I go into (even the big ones), so if I'm confused any details, please feel free to correct me/slap me upside the head.
