I think it was written by Lukas too... I like him, but I kind of wonder what Sheryl Chee's part in it was. Was it originally her idea.. was it intentionally meant to contradict? 

 

I know all the DA writers work together closely, but she's still kind of the authority on Leliana to me.

 

If it was meant to imply that Leliana was lying to Warden when they talked about it, I'm not sure what the purpose would be. The basic gist of the story is the same. She just would have ended up lying about the various details and made the story sound less dramatic than it was.

I think the fact that her tale to the Warden matches perfectly with what's written in her biography in World of Thedas Vol.2, it's pretty obvious which story is the real one. 

 

Leliana's Song was nothing more than an embellishment of the truth to make ti more suitable to an audience.

That also fits right in with Leliana being a bard as well. The stories bards tell are first and foremost about entertainment, not necessarily historical accuracy. Also given that the story is about a traumatic period of her own life it makes a lot of sense that she would change some details in the retelling.

I don't think they ever do, actually.

 

There's no mention of it, at least. Not outside that one codex entry in Darkspawn Chronicles.

No. That situation likely only occured in the Darkspawn Chronicles because the relationship dynamic was totally different. In TDC, Leliana was Alistair's only friend besides the Dog; he rejected everyone else besides Morrigan as a party member.

Sort of how I headcanon my own ending for Warden/Leliana, but I wonder if Leliana will burden anyone with the role of Left Hand after what she went through...

 

She didn't even let Cassandra join her as Right Hand.
