No.

Yes.

In DA:O Marjolaine mocks Leliana for having cut her short to look like a nun, implying that she used to wear her hair long before she ran off to the Chantry.

Giving Leliana long hair I think would have been a nod to that, and would have made her character design better reflect her dual role in DA:I of both bard and Chantry sister.

Of course that would have also required Bioware master long hair in DA:I, something they were unable to do.

Hair ragged and messy like a boy, not a nun.   :)

In the DLC Leliana's Song, you will see her with "long hair" (done up in a ponytail, of course)

In all seriousness:

Leliana is a spymaster in DAI. She's not a frontline spy. Even if she engages in active missions, why does a bard need long hair? Short hair facilitates the use of disguises, for one.

She had long hair in Leliana's Song. Just in a pony tail.

I don't know if that's already been mentioned but...I'm actually playing Origins (after Inquisition...yeah shame on me) and I was wondering if I were the only one who couldn't picture Leliana with a male Warden ? (and urgh...didn't know about that threesome, I just missed it...so disappointed  )

My main warden is a male, who romances Leliana, so I very much picture her with a male warden.

While I romance her with a male Warden most of the time, Leliana has always struck me as being bisexual with a clear preference for women.

She seems far more comfortable conversing with a female Warden in Origins and it shows in that conversation about hair, where the subtext has her clearly expressing her attraction to them and attempt to initiate a romance.

Compare that to the male Warden who has to be the one to (awkwardly) flirt with her to really start the romance arc between them, I think it's safe to say that while she's attracted to men as well, she tends to look to women for romantic partners or friendships.

Looking at her history, we do see a lot of the important people who have shaped her during her life have nearly always been women.

There's no doubt Leliana has a bigger preference towards women rather than men. I thing one important factor is that up until Origins the most influential people in her life have been women: her mother Oisine, Cecile, Marjolaine, Dorothea, Josephine. The only male friends she had were presumably Tug and Sketch. She never knew her father either.

I think the reason Leliana isn't the first to initiate the romance with m!Warden like with f!Warden is because it's pretty obvious that m!Warden is the first man in her life that she's ever truly felt affection for. It's safe to assume she's never been in a relationship with a man, Being an avid reader of folk and romance tales about chivalrous knights rescuing young women and confessing their love for them, Leliana expects m!Warden to do the same, e.g. lay out his feelings in front of her.

When she enters a relationship with m!Warden Leliana even scowls him for making her spill her guts like that and not being chivalrous enough.

Dat Spymaster.

I have to replay Origins sometimes, finally romance her. Seriously. Have done two PTs so far. One with my CE, the other with a Queen Cousland.

Great pics, particularly that screenshot. Not 100% convinced that transitioning over to Frostbite 3 was a good design choice, but every shot of Leliana in the game is certainly strong evidence in support.

It's totally worth it. Hell, all of the Origins romances are pretty good.

Oh well, I suppose if I'd choosen a male warden I would have felt the same!

Interesting, I haven't thought about that! I mean, I noticed she's always been surrounded by women, but...Well, that's kinda cute I must say.

Ugh, I had so many ideas when I first started Origins (so before I got really attached to the characters) "do the ultimate sacriface, make Alistair rule with Anora, etc., etc." ... And now that I almost finished the game, I'm not sure about what I want anymore. Well done Bioware.

(oh and, sorry for the bad english)

What, started to actually care about what happens to the characters? I know the feelings.

Also, where's that bad english? I'm not seeing any.

I know right! I started the Dragon Age serie few months ago with Inquisition...I really enjoyed it (and I still do) but I did not feel completly involved until I played Origins. Now I can't wait to get my hands on DA II.

Well I spent my day trying to write my bachelor thesis in...french. and I'm kinda tired, so I may be a little paranoid

Does anyone else find it odd that Leliana and Cullen haven't aged a single day since the Blight, 10 years ago?

In my opinion, Leliana has indeed aged but she even looks prettier than DAO so there is that.

Cullen hasn't aged though, that is right.

Cullen and Alistair looks younger in DA:I than DA:O

Morrigan and Leliana have some mature facial traits that didn't have in Origins.

Enjoy DA2. But beware, some consider it the weakest link in the series.

It was surprising for me how many people claimed DA2 was great after Inquisition came out. Must've been the fact they found a new thing to hate.
