Depends if you think crushing dissent is a valuable asset in a religious leader.

Maybe something more like Hardened Leliana stops the rebellion from the inside out while softened Leliana refuses to stoop to their level.
It's kind of weird, main-line Inquisiton ending slides has Softened Leliana managing to talk the leaders of the rebellion down while if you didn't do her quest she does nothing about it, which would match up with the Trespasser slides. Maybe it's a bug and there's supposed to be one for softened Leliana?
I prefer Softened Leliana and her optimistic vision of the Chantry more than "they will see, I will make them see" but now I'm worried getting her elected as Divine is going to be for nothing. Guess it's more a reason to keep the Inquisition around.

Another banter i missed, after Cole's personal quest:

Messenger: Sister Leliana says “thank you”.
Cole: But she didn’t like the bee.
Messenger: It was a little…weird.
http://everythinginh...-thank-you-cole
So that was Varric's great idea... lol

Yeah, I prefer with Leliana as Divine the Inquisition should still continue. Especially if she's softened.
Tbh, I'm happy both of her slides if Divine are very well written and aren't simply black and white. I like how they fleshed out both sides of her personality more and basically proved that if you harden Leliana she is still the Leliana we know and love and that she's a far cry from Marjolaine.
Softened Leliana still embraces those skills she learned as a bard. Being a Left Hand meant she had to resolve to assassination first and foremost, when you soften her she still doesn't shy away from killing but doesn't view assassinating people as the first solution for everything. Niceness before knives.
Hardened Leliana is simply more brutal and ruthless, she tends to resolve to assassination more but she still embraces her faith and devotion to the Maker, she still wants to help people, she still wants to do good in the world.
And most importantly, hardened or not she still deeply loves her Warden. As Divine she is devoted to the Maker but unlike Andraste she chose her earthly spouse and stuck to earthly matters. Instead of praying all day for the Maker to save the weak and oppressed, Leliana takes matters into her own hands and would rather be out there in the field helping people herself even though she could be in danger of being attacked or assassinated.

That's spot-on, and a very beautiful breakdown of a fascinating character. I really love her justification of staying in a romantic relationship with the Warden, and how she extends it to everyone in the Chantry.

People always resist change, even if it's gonna benefit them in the long term. I like Leliana as Divine the most, she's gonna modernize the Chantry, dispose of outdated dogmas and make it appealing for all races...if she survives of course. Other Divine choices don't seem to have the guts to do something that radical, so nothing major will actually change.

I think Leliana would be the only Divine who would try to meet with the Black Divine and heal the rift between the two faiths.

Actually are there other parts of Trespasser where characters comment on softened or hardened Divine Leliana?
Like I've seen videos where you talk to Vivienne on Divine Leliana she either says the Chantry is hanging by a thread and Leliana is out of her depth or that she's just barely keeping the Chantry together.

Agreeing with some of you here...I do not feel like this is the last of Leli we will see. It may not be major but she will be around in some form or another.
Personally I don't think we'll be seeing much more from Leliana in the next game, aside from a cameo as Divine Victoria or a representative of the (unofficial?) Inquisition.
That being said, obviously I'd welcome said cameo ![]()

Here's a video with hardened Leliana as Divine. There is going to be one with softened Leliana posted soon.
And, imo, it's totally in-character for Vivienne to disapprove of Leliana's reforms as Divine. Those two never got along. Not even a little bit.

Thanks for the video. It's interesting that a softened Leliana looks at the Winter Palace and thinks about intrigues and conspiracies, while a hardened Leliana is more focused on people suffering. But mostly I'm glad to see that not even her "ruthless" version is remotely comparable to Marjolaine. ![]()

Yet I don't remember Leliana ever saying a word against (or even about) her. I almost wish Vivienne had called her "a well meaning fool" to her face, an actual argument between the two of them would have been fun to watch.

Actually, I have softened Divine Leliana and she talks about people suffering. Maybe if she isn't Divine then she'll talk about the intrigues and conspiracies?
Also when you first talk to Mother Gisele, she apparently has different lines about how Divine Leliana is doing: for my play-through Gisele says Leliana is adept at making allies thanks to her intelligence and faith and I saw in another video where Gisele will say Leliana is struggling to have strong voice against people rejecting her reforms (I'm assuming this happens if you didn't do her personal quest but got her elected).
Does Gisele say something different for hardened Leliana?

Yes, a softened spymaster!Leliana will talk about "knives in the shadows and poison in jeweled goblets". I didn't know about this difference, I guess it makes sense. ![]()

At the end of Origins, I wouldn't say she and Morrigan are besties but they seem to have come to some type of...mutual respect but in DAI, it's like canon or something that they despise each other. That doesn't seem realistic to me. Especially if Kieran is in the picture. Idk...just some random things I noticed.

I think mutual respect is the best way to describe Morrigan and Leliana's relationship. They're far from besties, but I think they both secretly look out for one another. A perfect example is when Kieran and Morrigan vanish in the Eluvian and Leliana can't move away from the mirror and literally begs the Inquisitor to go after them. And after the What Pride Had Wrought mission the other advisers comment how Leliana seems so worried about Morrigan's well being.
Another example is if you play a male Warden who fathered Kieran but romanced Leliana and instead of hating Morrigan, Leliana says she will always be grateful to Morrigan for saving her Warden's life and comments how such a polite and sweet boy Kieran is.
They might act annoyed with one another, like when Morrigan enters the War Room and Leliana all of a sudden changes her expression, but secretly they both have each other's back. Morrigan even says she was pleasantly surprised/astounded at Leliana's widespread reputation as a Spymaster.

Leliana had always been fascinated by Morrigan and even had a crush on her. The dialogue about her suggesting a dress to Morrigan is quite telling.

Either way, Morrigan really needs to consider new clothing options by this point in time.
Thedas requires a Hugo Boss.
