Well he said that he woke up in the bushes after you ask him how the heck he is alive.

Ah, yes. I guess they could've found a better explanation <_<.

I'm not sure I follow. Did her Brosca do the Ultimate Sacrifice?

No matter what the ending, the Warden is missing.

*sigh* Octobre 7th cannot come fast enough. I need to know what happens to Leliana!

*Random thought* Most people nickname her Leli. What is your nickname for her? I like Liloo.

I dislike nicknames. I'm boring like that. I used to call my ex Katherine instead of 'Katie' and it infuriated her.

Well... I call my cat poopybutt sometimes. But that's longer than her real name.

As a person who loves nicknames (hence my signature), I'm now quite tempted to give you a nickname based on your dislike for nicknames. I won't, though ;)

Thank you.  B)

Still, others talk of tying her up, but you start to talk needles and suddenly you've gone too far.

There's something about the actual penetration of skin that makes the mental image of using needles on Leliana much worse than the image of her being tied up.

There's also that sense of amazement when you realize that I'd never have imagined myself typing out that sentence about a videogame character. Wow.

Good Queen Aimo has kindly informed me that there is a happy sequel to the previous comic.

Y'know, I really do hope Leliana mentions the Warden a decent amount. Especially considering she seemed to have made it her job to look for them in DAII.

That was beautiful. The previous comic was heart-wrenching.

You know, now that I stop to think about it, it's no wonder Leliana looked so bitter in the last trailer. Life has been harsh for her:

-Leliana's Song: her mentor Marjolaine betrays her. Thank the Maker Dorothea was there to help her.

-Before DA:O: During her retirement, Leliana was mocked by her religious ideas.

-DA:O: If she joins the Warden's group, there are several possible scenarios. Worst case scenario: the Warden defiles Andraste's ashes and Leliana is "killed". Best case scenario: the Warden becomes her best friend or even lover. Good, isn't it? Keep reading.

-After DA:O: Following the best case scenario, the Warden can either sacrifice himself or herself, breaking Leliana's heart... or they will keep a long-distance relationship until his or her mysterious disappearance. More drama.

-Books: Leliana is seen as the Divine's (Dorothea's) right hand and personal spy, doing her dirty work. But it's all good because it's for a good cause, isn't it?

-DA:I: The most popular guess so far is that the explosion will wipe out several Chantry high-ranking members, including the Divine herself. Poor Leliana. And now we know that she may end up being tortured by those crazy Tevinters. She just can't catch a break.

That's bad enough just for her personally, but look at the state of the world around her too: first the blight, then the mage-templar war and now the humongous tear in the veil. This is not a good time to be alive in Thedas (is it ever?).

It makes those AU fics where the DA characters get sucked into another world more bearable: anywhere is better than Thedas! (I'm trying to think of a darker setting...mmmh...)

I sometimes want to hold Leliana and give her a big hug. As I cannot do that, I want to write stupidly fluffy, lovey-dovey porn with Leliana and the Warden.

I wonder what combination of traits Leliana has that me vulnerable to that level of emotional manipulation. I can't see me reacting to Merrill or Isabela that way.

For some reason I associate this song with Leliana even though part of me is saying it's all wrong to do so.

Yes, Thedas is a horrible place to live. Maybe Warhammer 40.000 is worse?

Truth be told, I welcome it. It's like Game of Thrones: a hard slap to those who idealize fantasy settings. The Middle Ages were unpleasant at best, downright brutal in war times, and if you add magic, demons, monsters and a plague hellbent on destroying the world, things are likely to be even worse, not better.

However, people are normally used to the status quo, no matter what it is. Thedas could be even bearable during a nice age, but this is the Dragon Age. No decade can pass without at least a couple of wars.

WH40K is a pretty good contender.

Interesting that you say 'idealize fantasy settings'. There's plenty of nasty stuff that can happen in any setting, it can be just as brutal if not more so. I'm thinking of Bioshock, for one. What goes on in Rapture and Columbia is grisly. Thedas is interesting in that it's like a mad science experiment: medieval fantasy mixed with supernatural horror and topped with a zombie apocalypse. It tastes like tears and lost childhood.

Dante's Inferno doesn't top that for fictional hells.

Welp, here's a comprehensive list: http://tvtropes.org/.../CrapsackWorld

Back on topic: Which would be worse?

A romanced Leliana not acknowledging her relationship with the Warden? Or a romanced Leliana who resents him\her for disappearing?

The first one. I can understand both, and to be honest I would expect the second one, but the third one would just hit me in the feels too hard.

Interesting it's actually mentioned

Whereas the city of Haven in Simon R. Green's Hawk And Fisher series is the Wretched Hive version, where even the "gods" aren't above greed, mayhem, sociopathy and a host of other antisocial tendencies, but still attract worshippers. His later Nightside series draws heavily on Haven to create a similar setting as part of a hidden version of London.

Back on topic:

Not acknowledging it is worse, a strained relationship can be fixed.

Virtually any Zombie Apocalypse setting is worse off than Thedas. The world is pretty bleak, but you can make things slightly better.

The strange thing about post-apocalyptic stories that many of them idealize that post-apocalyptic world. There seems to be a 'returning to a simpler time' fantasy at work that involves 90% of the human population dying and civilization collapsing.

Definitely the first one. As players, I think we want our choices (or the choices of our characters, whatever you pick) being reflected in the game. Of course, there's also room for disappointment if the consequences of said choices aren't what we expected them to be, or if the change is as apparently meaningless as a different line of dialogue. But that's still better than no acknowledgement at all.

I can see Leliana being a bit resentful. Ok, very resentful, her world is breaking down and the Warden isn't there to support her. Of course, if the Warden's disappearance was forced by the big bad, as many suspect, I don't think Leliana will be angry at them. I mean, she was working with Cassandra at the end of DA2 and it was she who implied that the Warden's disappearance couldn't be a coincidence. That makes me think that Leliana is a yandere in charge of looking for the Warden while Cassandra's objective is Hawke. So definitely a mention, at least.

Mmh... This kinda makes me hope that the Keep will allow for subtleties like infidelity in DAO. Just to add to the pile of misery: she fell in love with the Warden and he\she cheated on her. He, I'm a cruel and vile person, as someone pointed out. (I'm a black cat! What do you expect?)

How about, never wanting to talk to/about the Warden ever again b/c they are a mage  :crying:

Though it seems most around here don't play mage Wardens.

Sorry.

On topic? Leliana trash talking the Warden would be hilarious.
