I managed to get it in the vanilla game.

The sweetest dialogue might be the eyelashes in jars comment. It's so bizarre you know it's sincere.

Though her getting angry at you for making her declare her love is also pretty good.

It was really sweet, but it also creeped me out the first time I played through it. I hardened her, and after hearing her humblebrag about how good she was at seducing people into falling for her even when they knew she was a master of seducing people into falling for her even after they were aware of her...

Paranoia recursion loop gave me a fright, and I had a conspiratorial wondering about how I (the character in the role play) could think I was somehow different or above her influence- especially as she was being very endearing as it was. Was I already in her trap? How could I possibly know I wasn't, when both her seduction and her sincere love might both be running off the same playbook?

Ultimately I realized that if I was already worried if I could trust her, then I already didn't trust her, and it wasn't going to work. Amicable-ish breakup soon followed, using the M!Couseland on the throne route to take a breakup instead of an affair.

I learned and grew to trust her sincerity after a few more playthroughs, but I've no regrets about that playthrough. My first and favorite use of a romance breakup as a deliberate role playing narrative.

I'm sure it'll be possible to become friends with Leliana. It's been said that there's a fair amount of dialogue between the Inquisitor and each advisor and a good deal of that is one on one conversations.

I certainly hope we can be friends with her! I'll be a very sad kitty if we don't get at least a smile from her. If she laughs I'll be in heaven.

*Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighh*. That song is so pretty. On another note, whenever I watch the Sacred Ashes trailer I can't help but think that Leliana must be cold in that armor. Her thighs and arms are exposed to the elements! Not to mention her hands must be numb from the cold. How could she even shoot that bow? Oh well, suspensionof disbelief and all that.

It was.

Justinia has always been less traditional in her ways...   Her secret investment into finding a way to reverse tranquility in Asunder showed that she wanted to make things better for mages but couldn't outright do it thanks to years of tradition blocking the way. Stupid Templars....

That and something known as the "peripheral route to persuasion" being applied to this particular advertisement for the game, based on the common misconception that most gamers are male and heterosexual, and using something sexy to get their attention.

Since she is a bard I'm hoping they have Leliana sing again. Give her a medieval French (a.k.a. Orlesian) ballad this time around though!

Spoiler

In any case, I hope she does something related to the artistic side of being a bard. Not that the spycraft and assassination isn't interesting.  B)

Does the French language even exist in Thedas? All Orlesians seem to speak English, even among themselves.

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure this is what's going on here. Bioware has a pretty good idea of their demographic. They knew very well that the fanservice would hit straight/bi males and gay/bi females equally. :D

I think the culprit here is more likely to be the 'rule of cool' and 'acceptable breaks from reality'. Not many people want to deal with environment in a game. :)

Maybe she could sing at a party.... I just want to see her at a party... and a real one. Not that Mota type of stuff. (Not that Mota was bad it just could have been better)

Is that how she survived her death?

Oh yeah I do know BioWare is a little different, but even then BioWare's marketing team has "fallen into the traps" that come with selling a game to people. Mass Effect is a big example, in which Shepard has been as a white male so much, to the point that people never even realized it was anything else than your standard third person-shooter.

But it can very well have been a little bit of everything.

So Leliana's eyes aren't supposed to be brown says Mike Laidlaw.

Singing in any form would be nice.

Leliana should sing around the Keep.  Like, when she thinks no one is looking but the Inquisitor is around the corner and can hear her.  It's kinda like the 'singing in the shower' thing.

Do they speak English? I would certainly prefer they just say Thedosians speak English, as opposed to "the common tongue," because that always drives me nuts in fantasy settings. And if they speak English, does that mean they just call their planet "Earth"? I don't see why not! Perhaps they do just call it "Wot" or "Wothedas" or some other awful thing. Perhaps they speak Thectothedas - the common tongue of the Dragon Age setting.

Anyway, if Orlesians speak French, I don't know why they would speak medieval French as opposed to contemporary French, when people seem to be speaking contemporary English in Ferelden.

I hope Leliana and other Orlesians speak French in this game, I do.

There is an Orlesian (presumably based on French) language, but most people also speak the trade language. It gets mentioned in The Calling, iirc.

"the trade language"? Goddammit.

They should just call it "the lingua franca."

It's not Orlesian. It's dwarven.
